Lane Hutson Just Proved the Entire NHL Wrong!

Lane Hutson Just Proved the Entire NHL Wrong!

Lane Hutson was doubted at every level. Too small. Too risky. Passed over 61 times in the 2022 NHL Draft. But now, the Canadiens rookie has taken the league by storm—breaking records and proving that size doesn’t define greatness.

In this video, we dive into Hutson’s journey from draft day to NHL stardom, how he’s changing the game, and why the hockey world may never overlook players like him again.

  1. He hasn't been really targeted yet. And when they have taken a run,he quickly coffs up the puck. But he will adapt and team mates will recognize to get open before he gets hit to give him the opportunity to dish them the puck. If he plays in a playoff against a Paul Maurice team there will be a real attempt to eliminate him from the series.

  2. Thats a typical REAL hockey player .. tell them they can't do something.
Put a chip on their shoulder and see how they handle it.

There's a lot more skilled hockey players out in the world that never make the NHL.
Because they can't handle the pressure and adversity.

To be fair, every player is given a honeymoon period in the NHL – we'll see if he can truly handle being squished in the boards like a bug!

He will be a Target this season. Honeymoon period is over.

But if he can skate and hold a stick, he'll be out there!
Don't undervalue his teammates that open up lanes for him. Give him space to work.
They may not show up on the scoreboard, but they will be essential to Hutson's game.

    Stay healthy!

    You too coach!

  3. With 32 teams, the competition is vicious, literally, and with a rink thats too small IMO, players are vulnerable. I don't understand why the NHL doesn't take steps to protect their product, injuries always happen, but players now wear helmets and soon neck protection, but they allow hits when there is no play for the puck. Teams do this purposely, thats why they don't draft small players, injuring skill is in the plan to win.

  4. Teams don't draft small players because the NHL is vicious and intent to injure part of winning, call it like it is, Bennett hit 3 goalies in the playoffs, knocked one out, but there wasn't a suspension, cheating is equated with a desire to win, kids are learning that, so much for sport teaching character.

  5. The kid can play good.. No, his size is not a concern. I can't believe he was pick 62. Maybe they were trying to be too careful when it comes to Hutson. Sam Pollock, may be the best of them knew how to pick the right players. Pollock and Scotty behind the bench. Couldn't ask for better. No, size is not the issue. The kid is good. I say Hutson will contribute the team tremendously!

  6. For the most part, so far, Hutson has been able to get around these larger players with skill and skating ability , and not making them look bad in the process. This draws a lot of respect from most of these players as none of them want to look bad being 'out played' by a smaller size player. Will that last, who knows? There will always be that one player wanting to add another notch (to his hockey stick) by taking out some other team's star player. This I feel will be the biggest determining factor as to whether Lane can follow through with an even more impressive sophomore season than his rookie season. Just saying.
