No team arrives in Finals not playing with injuries.
Losing Perry and Brown hurts.
They still don't have Cup level Goaltending and Defense.

What a dumb question, we lost Perry, Kane, Klingberg, Skinner, Brown and Arvidson from our starting line up and replaced them with Mangiapane and Lazar…….of course we are worse, our depth is non existent now
i don't believe the Oilers are improved overall compared to last season's team! The goal tending is the same! The Defence is the same minus Klingberg! The goal tending and the defence ,against Florida ,were not good enough! The Oilers in the bottom six are not as good as last season in my opinion! Bowman still has a few months till training camp so things can change!
I don't think the Oilers have done much to add to their scoring depth, find a top level talent to play with Leon on the second line or do much with the defense except to pay 2 of them 20 million a season. The goal tending is what it is. There isn't any cap space to improve it so 2.6 million for a starting goalie seems like a steal in this league. If the other 2 areas had been greatly improved then we wouldn't need goalie heroics when the team in front only plays 20 of 60 minutes.
We're going to find out how much McDavid actually wants to win when we see how much he signs for. If he doesn't take a pay cut, he isn't really serious about winning. You can get that bag, or you can get that cup. His lacklustre play in the finals proved that he cant have both.
I don't care what justification you have for Bowen. He just hack the team in half. The guy is betting on nobodies.
You lost J.skinner 16G , Arvidsson 15G, Perry 19G and Brown 13G. And what did we get ? We just look way way worse than last year.
Lost; Kane,Brown,Perry,Arvidsson, jSkinner,Klingberg,Ryan.. & Holloway,Broberg prior yr.
Added; Mangiopane is 3rd line (15g), Lazar 4th, & Savoie & Philp AHL… so can't expect them to replace what is lost. RNH is often a poor scorer & short 2 top6 wingers.
The low pay helps offset the jCampbell fiasco.. & what appears to be the Frederic $32m fiasco… Better?? Coach will have to teach/ enforce improved position & effort.
