  1. And you forgot to mention also in the ncaa university’s can also pay players to play at there school as well so he will get a scholarship probably for education and get paid

  2. Cost of living in New York is crazy! Cost of everything in California is crazy! Taxes in California is also very high. These are lame excuses if any player is saying this…

  3. EA sports needs to secure the rights to make a college hockey game now!! Or at least get the rights to include the teams in NHL 26 because McKenna going to Penn State sucks in the sense that now the projected #1 pick for 2026 will not be in the game.

  4. vancouver seems to always be a place that athletes are hesitant to go to, but most players, whether they played for the canucks, whitecaps, or lions tend to love the city once they come. its a very weird situation for vancouver

  5. drama in Vancouver, the guys who left including the coach realized with Edmonton, Vegas and Colorado in the west there is no cup chance in the foreseeable future!

  6. Big league athletes worrying about cost of living. As you say often at this time of year $775,000 is league minimum. Just do not live above your means guys and you will be fine. Meanwhile families in CA struggle to pay their bills.

  7. "a bust and all that fun stuff."
I know you refuse to criticize players Shan, but Puljaarvi was a bust. No way around it.
Or else with any "bust" we could say "said player would have done better with another team/circumstances".

  8. Tax rate for Dvorak in Vancouver would be 53.5% on all home games. In Philly it's only 40% (3.5% state + 36.5 Federal) And while Dvorak is taking a risk if he is injured, the cap will climb to 113.5 in 2027, and maybe he wants to wait a year before signing for term. He might squeeze an extra 500k a year out by waiting. And vancouver was only offering 3 years at 12 million, so less for this season significantly!

  9. When Multi-millionaires are saying the cost of living is a reason for not coming to Vancouver imagine how it is for the rest of us. A lot of the fault for this goes to Christy Clark’s liberals for what happened at the River Rock Casino which drove housing prices waaaaaaaay up. Which is why personally I will NEVER again vote for the provincial liberals/United. (SAME PARTY DIFFERENT NAME. SO STUPID HOW THEY THINK THAT EVERYTHING CHANGES JUST BECAUSE THEY CHANGED THEIR NAME.)

  10. With the NCAA going to have more and more top tier prospects joining their league, I'm predicting that's going to grow the game in the US over the long term more than anything else that's happened in the last decade.

  11. Sub 200 goals from Tyler Johnson doesn't feel right (obviously I believe you). Half of those goals must have been against Peter mrazek 😂. All those series against detroit, Great memories!

  12. And today in hockey news the Vancouver Canucks organization is a complete dumpster fire. Nothing else to report.

  13. So IMO its smart of Mckenna to go to college. One Critque I have of the CHL is it prevents players from doing both hockey and working on a backup plan through uni/college. I don't know if it would be fair to now allow CHL players into the Canadian uni/college hockey teams due to many uni/college teams arent people who are pro hockey players but U never know if u get an injury young and then can't play anymore so imo its smart for Mckenna to go to school and have that degree to fall back on and hey some people will do school and pro athelete at the same time for example Marcus Strowman was doing school while playing for the Jays because he wanted to have that school degree to fall back on if MLB didnt work out.

  14. Imagine choosing Philadelphia over Vancouver.

That's actually insane. Having lived in Philly for years, its actually the dumbest thing I've heard lol.

  15. THG! No 20-30yr old making $800,000 gives a crap about cost of living. You’re thinking about people at regular wage/lifestyle

  16. Thanks THG for all things hockey 🏒!!
Truly, “The Dog Days of Summer” here in Tokyo. Getting any hockey, anytime of year is great!! 🐻🏒🏒🏒

  17. McKenna got $700k to sign w/ Penn State, choosing that over a rumored $2-300k from Mich. St. With those kinds of numbers, a player following what McKenna did will go from a trickle to a tidal wave for front line juniors.

  18. Well… I must say, as a Canucks fan… I'm glad Dvorak didn't get signed for more than Philly gave, wow! 😬😬😬 Thank you for keeping Boeser.

  19. My one thing about the cost of living complaint… cities like St Louis, Detroit, Columbus, and even Pittsburgh would be near the top of the FA list if most players actually thought about cost of living. And the Rangers and Kings would never be able to sign anyone. That’s actually my argument against the whining about the states without income taxes. States generally make that up elsewhere, property tax, cost of living, insurance rates when your home is prone to hurricanes, random stuff like that. But players are like most people, would rather regurgitate a headline than think about stuff logically

  20. Pool party was loved here in Edmonton but he was mismanaged so badly, he never had a chance to develop or find his game and it was a real shame we couldn't give him the consistency to be a good middle 6 player for us.
