Amazing work gentlemen! Keep it up….
Thanks! 🙏
Gorts
Where can we find the full episode?
Amazing work !
Just gaining that interview in itself is such a major win. Congrats to both of you, and thank you so much for also sharing a very interesting chunk of it here. I absolutely loved that question on the role of the analytics department in such major moves.
Don’t even have to listen let me guess more media spin that they believe in Dach and are expecting big things …😂
The full interview was fantastic guys. Excellent stuff.
Bravo les gars, de vrais professionnels ! Content de vous voir sur youtube ! ( je viens de découvrir que vous aviez une chaîne ! )
Here because of hockey junkie 👀
Beau travail les boys 💪🏼 great questions 👌🏼😉
Dobson equal to Chris Chelios at 25 ?
Great podcast
Nice of Arpon to put on his best shirt for this big interview…
I fully enjoyed this
You should feel better, Marc-Antoine. Arpun also interrupts Gorton.
Gorton & Kent
What a hockey building duo
And architect and a sales manager
Montreal is becoming a team that players want to go to
Dobson chose Montreal
Kyrou would waive to come to Montreal
This and the transparency from the the team to the fans is a much welcomed change
From Geoff Molson, to management, the coaching staff, the players and not to forget Chantal who is the spear of the communication just good stuff.
#GoHabsGo
Just heard of you guys from @HockeyJunkie. Nice work.
Excellente entrevue. Bravo.
très intéressant; très bonnes questions, pertinentes
Your the freakin man polor bear
This is…
You guys, I mean… right?
I knew it before but bro, but with this new B&G's ENTIRE line of questionings and/or wording plus what Jeff "The Gord" Gorton answered/Said here??!
So many "under the radar" commonalities; it's definitely to a point that some stuff can be predicted with good accuracy (I like math and stuff, but not gambling,.. But man, especially with the US betting stuff going on, one could absolutely make a bunch of precise predictions that would beat the preponderance of probabilities more often than not, like right now lol).
so…
I"m…
… gonna have to "privately acquire" (aka download "this here interweb video my good sir") this one. For… Research 😉
I REALLY never do that for the record usually, but recently I had to have access to basic stuff offline while being without internet ( i.e. no private cell data/wifi/hotspot guarantied, and the thing is with public "free" wifi spots : even if there's one 2 blocks away, if for any reason you physically can't get there, and if like me it's also one outside for a public park, with the winter/rain we get here… Yeah…)…
Like, I've listen to all (or so) public interviews/media stuff involving Jeff since 2022 (not much data but definitely enough, so kind of perfect).
What he's been saying and what he specifically doesn't say until… Saying it.
I can't be the only one here, who's technically just an outside observator, who's understanding how the current stable ownership and with executive VP (Gorton) meaning something again (under Bergevin there were more Canadiens "VPs" than the province could provide uncles to fill said role lol; we ALL knew someone who's dad or uncle played weekly golf or something with a Bergevin's era "VP" lol; insane how many couldn't keep their mouth shut bro, goddamn!), you can trace back the same type of previous moves using the same "method" and thus have a good idea of who/what will be attempted/done in the future.
Right now, they NEED to trade Carey's last contractual year, to avoid having to us LTIR again (with all the bonuses at play here), LTIR used for Carey would leave us with a frozen 8M or so under the cap for the 26-27 season; cap ceiling potential will go up significantly, but it's a league wide thing, we'll get that cap increase like any team sure, but still minus that 8M or so for summer 26/season 26-27. LTIR has other issues too…
I really thought a trade would have been doneby now.
The Shark is the obvious one that would be interested. You give a 5th + 3rd + last year's of Price's contract (99% of which is FREE for the team since it's all insurance at this point baby), you get back a 4th (or you just trade a 4th+the contract if needed) and thus don't have to use LTIR to be cap compliant and to have cap leeway during the coming up season/when the season starts
The Sharks have a TON of space under the cap floor, and unlike the Ducks, they won't spend much of it this summer. Carey's contract would be a perfect fit for them. Only one year, they pay nothing, get a free late pick or 2 out of it, reach the cap floor and it's only ONE YEAR for a rebuilding team. Like, perfect timing.
Maybe the Sharks know that the Habs cannot find another dance partner, and thus hold most of the cards here… IDK.
So something is blocking something somewhere you guys.
The habs are cap compliant because it's not more than 10% over the cap limit right now, but that will change the second the season start.
They don't HAVE to trade the contract nor use LTIR to have a cap wiz guy making it work on paper, but in reality you want to start the season with SOME cap leeway, like 4-6M in free cap day one would be perfect. Can't happen without said contract being traded (wtf is going on; or is it part of a bigger trade in the work?), or we're forced to again damned ourselves with LTIR on it and tank it for 26-27, or (most unlikely scenario here imho), they trade an active team contributor for cap relief (not the Habs mindset as of today).
– Sharks is the most obvious target;
– Next is Chicago but on a lower tier in this context;
– Ducks, well, anyone who gets a glimpse at their cap situation might assume it could be a good match, but not really; management there are known to…. "take their time" to sign players or not, and for that you need cap availability so nah. They plan to use their cap;
– There was ONE East Coast team that I think could work, but again, Sharks are the obvious ones BY FAR (or isn't an option anymore I didn't check for a while);
– Do WE owe one to Philly this year or it's the other way around? They did force us to pay a heavy price so that a certain player wouldn't be available at the 38th pick… So maybe they do…? Weird dynamic; but both teams are getting preferential access to draft eligible phenoms from a certain country/area, under the rule of a certain "bottlenecking and infamous" agent that control stuff there for now, so MTL and Philly need to pick what they can before it potentially ends or gets "too crowded"… You guys know what I mean?
What's holding stuff up in you guys' opinion regarding Price's last contract year?
SOMETHING regarding that WILL happen before day 1 of the season, you don't need anything else than logics to know that. It's obvious. But I'm curious as to why it isn't "done" already so that they at least know what they'll have to work with. this season (and the next if LTIR instead of a cap dump trade).
GEEz to pay for podcast media? No thanks.
I don't think there's any rush to get that 2C when you have 2 options in Dach and Newhook. Newhook would be a filler (and a good one), but there's no doubt that Dach has the potential to fill that seat for good if he gets going. As the season advances, some teams will suddenly become sellers and if the need is still there, then they can pull it off at that point.
I know we want to get everything done quickly, but patience goes a long way when you have the right cards.
As a broke student in debt this got me soooo close to subscribing. Have loved your content for a while now and you guys provide real value! It's not in the cards for now but you will have a future contributor soon!
