The Edmonton Oilers made a late-night move, acquiring forward prospect Isaac Howard from the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for Sam O’Reilly. The 2022 first-round pick signed his three-year entry-level contract shortly after the deal was finalized. Is this a fair swap? For marketing purposes really good to be called Ike
If the guy wants to be called Ike that's his prerogative. I've cool with it. Lliam seems a little overly bothered by it.
Lets set our expectations on these new guys trying to make the team. THEY ARE TRYING TO MAKE THE TEAM. None of them has a track record of NHL success. When it comes to a professional until they have 200+ games you don't know what you got. In other words it will be 2-4 years before we know anything about what Savoie, Howard, Hutson, Philp, Tomasek, Akey or any of the other guys in their system. We can all hope they are going to pan out. Reality is that if 2 of 6 of them pan out to be regular NHL contributors the organization has done well. The principle of the Howard trade is that the organization is taking chances to get both better and younger in the here and now. And that is good because its the direction the team needed to move after being the oldest team in the league the year before and running out of gas in games 5 and 6 of the finals last year.
Absolutely no reasons to rush Hyman back to the Oil at this point. If he misses half the seasons and if other guys do as well that is FINE by me. Lets have a healthy team that plays our system well in game 83. Who cares about game 20 Nov. 10th.

I usually hate the off season banter and sports content….especially for team-centric media, but you guys are so good haha, I’m hooked on ONE and I’ll be sad when ur gone for the summer lol. Kudos to Tyler and Liam for an awesome program as per usual
