It sucks to let a London Knights player go (I'm from London ❤). But Howard looks to be really really good.
We signed both mutual players one prospect for another both teams win .
seems just like a fair hockey trade..thing is I would trust Julien Brisebois anyday over Stan Bowman..but who knows
Hope Howard works out, sad to see Peanut 🥜 leave 😢
It’s the cost of keeping Conor, it’s a trade for the next 3 yr run. Just like all the moves it’s money and Conor’s contract that dictates the future.
Does losing Sam O'Reilly impact edmontons ability to get William Nichols signed
I feel like O'Reilly is like a Sam Gagner. He was rated a B prospect. Howard is being compared to Caufield. He was the top point getter on the US World Championship team. They rate Howard as a mid A prospect. We need a finisher.
O'Reilly is a center as well. He would have been behind McDavid and Drai for years.
Was looking forward to see O’Reilly in an Oiler jersey. I can see Howard being ready now where Sam was not NHL ready but time will tell. Hopefully it doesn’t bite the butt later. Tampa doesn’t have the dynamic duo the oilers do. Great opportunity for Howard to play with world class generational players. Thanks for the update
o reilly that good or a little London bias? HaHa ———— any more on new goalie coach?
The one thing I like about the trade most is the oilers still have their first for next year, meaning they can flip that at the deadline for a big piece. Sad to see Sam go, excited we have Isaac and a first still
Second line left wing with Leon and Mangiapane?
I am with you Patrick. Feeling sad to see Sam go. I am also glad that we picked up Howard. I am wondering where he will fit in though. Any thoughts on that? See him being top line with Draisaitl and Savoie?
Ugh! Is he ready to play against the NHL big boys? Better hope so. Otherwise, Bowman got fleeced again.
Seen some clips of him tonight looks like a good one for sure
That "some scouts" comment is such b.s. It is a clickbait comment. Howard is rated as a better prospect by a heavy majority of scouts. Oilers got the better player because Tampa couldn't sign him and actually did a good job in getting a player like O'Reilly in return.
It'll be very interesting to see who draws into the first game's lineup outside the "core". Especially how the 3rd and 4th line will look, who will center, and who will also be on 29s wing.
Oil can’t wait on O’Reilly to contribute at the NHL for 3-4 years, Howard is ready to go now and will be a major contributor at NHL level before O’Rielly plays his first game in the NHL big win for the Oil
It would appear that the primary reason why Tampa reluctantly traded Isaac Howard to Edmonton was because the Lightning were unable to sign Howard to an extended contract and with that being the case he could have become a free agent following this upcoming season. Moreover, the Lightning must have known that Howard wanted to come to Edmonton (the proof being that immediately following the trade, Howard signed a 3 year entry-level contract with the Oilers) and by receiving Sam O'Reilly in return, then at the very least, Tampa was able to acquire a high end prospect instead of being hung out to dry. In any case, IMHO, while O'Reilly definitely has potential, the Oilers would appear to have won in this trade and by a considerable margin as well.
The trade makes sense. unfortunately these are the types of trades the Oilers will need to make to get better in the 97 window
Finally. Someone who picks Canada icer florida
Thanks for the updates Patrick. As always you're doing a great job! I love your channel.
Well , when Sam O'Reilly proves to be a dominant player in the NHL , you can thank Darnell Nurse on his protection clause, Im sure he was factored in on a deal to get Isaac Howard. So the defensive pylon stays another year.
As a Tbl fan thank you for your insight, a lot of people aren't giving Sam O'Reilly his flowers. I do think Howard will absolutely light it up in Edmonton though… Just hope somebody stops the cats at this point.
