  1. Genuine question. Been watching hockey forever but one thing i don't understand. Can someone help me understand this whole thing I hear over and over about the 8th year and the AAV?? Lets say a player signs a 7 year deal at 10million a year, so a 70million dollar deal. So the player and team agree that 10mil a year is a good value, why would it matter making it 8 years? Would it not then be $80million, still 10million a year? So the player and cap are the same, 10mil a year?? Is the contention that they are gonna still pay the 70million but add the extra year? Which I wouldn't understand why a player would fo that. So are they saying they still pay the player 70million, but for 8 years? That would be 8.75 a year, but if the player and team are happy at 8.75mil a year, couldn't they just pay 61.25 and it be 7 years at 8.75? Whats the difference? How are teams benefiting by adding the 8th year, how is that year lowering the AAV? Sincerely trying to understand. Thanks for the help.

  2. Do your homework… he has been ideal in the dressing room and around the city of Edmonton… other teams were interested in him, not just Vancouver…. call Bob Stauffer in Edmonton and see what he says about him…. 4th rounder, 1 year left… great risk/reward trade.

  3. If Vancouver actually think Kane is some kind of answer to their problems, then they are in even worse shape than I thought.

  4. Does Vancouver think they’re making the playoffs, keeping Hughes? I think they’re full rebuild, how much is Kane worth at the deadline if he’s pacing 20-24 goals?

  5. Dazzle us with your….mail/male….bag 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Only Kyper could deliver that one.

  6. He was traded to the Oilers, then he put up some numbers and the Oilers signed him to an extension. If he was unbearable in the locker room, then the Oilers wouldn't even have signed him to an extension…

  7. The Oilers dumped kane for a FOURTH round pick. He.s is a POS, the biggest cheap shot artist, will never fight and can divide any locker room faster than any player in the league. What a LOSER

  8. Kane might have been a good fit in Montreal… size and lets be honest when healthy good player… st louis might have been able to keep him rained in…

  9. Kane played most of his time in Edmonton with few issues on the ice. A couple bad penalties in the playoffs before this year, and 3 great rounds this year, plus a poor final series. I get it, those careless penalties were stupid and really sunk the team, but is it a given he'll do that again? It's hard to find a guy like that. 3/4 of the playoffs he's positive and now you're down a top 6 guy when you actually need to add one – now two. It's a close call, but I might have kept him. bear in mind, it's possible a firm reframing of what not to do, might avoid these penalties next year…

  10. Sweetening should not have been needed. He's a unicorn and Van got him for no assets in their system. Good deal for them if anything. Come on.

  11. Got to say, there is a bit of shades of PK Subban here with how they are talking about Kane. Not saying these hosts are racists, but there does seem to be a way of talking about him that seems a little different than how they talk of others, am I the only one getting this feeling?

  12. This is the stupidest move Rutherford and the other clown have made. Vancouver will never win the cup as long as you have these two running the show and the owners interference. Get rid of them all. Kane is not the answer

  13. I like Jason Bukala although not always agree on his views. He knows the players market very well.

Bu I agree with him on Evander Kane. His bad sides overcome his hood sides. Still I hope he finds his game in Vanvouver and brings value added to the team.

If he doesn' t , it will be one year visit only. So the risk is for Canuks very slight.

What comes to goalies, they better sell Demko , for Oilers, and Lankinen- Silas tandem will be good enouh to take care of goalie biz.

Silas had a great post season in AHL , and Lankinen will be this year better and more consistent this year. He was already very good in some matches, but lacked some consistency.

  14. Sammy nailed it. You can't bail out anybody and not get anything back. Kyper missed the point that the issue is Vancouver helped out Edmonton and paid them to do it. Trading Kane in division is irrelevant. Vancouver had all the leverage and should have done better in the deal.

  15. "Mitch Marner has been home for 8 years and he can't get out fast enough." Right, that's because the fanbase and media drove him out of town because he had the audacity to be paid what he's worth. And because of that you're looking at a paper thin 2nd line because now the org is paranoid and squeezing every contract they can with JT and Knies.

  16. I am in LA and the HOTEL is decorated with NHL stuff all over the place! I don’t know what he’s talking about in that regards

  17. Leafs will lose marner thats it TAVARES will sign 100 percent . This team will still be very good and top of the division easy

  18. The Canucks have had no plan for the past ten years. A core of Hughes, Pettersson, Horvat, Boeser, and Demko turning into this dumpster fire is a joke. Now they bail out Edmonton? Horrible management.

  19. Vancouver seems to want the Drama for some reason. Lets trade one of our best Centers because he was causing drama and lets bring in a guy with a history of causing drama. I'm sure it won't sit very well if we loose Pius Suter over this.

  20. The concerns about trading to Kane to a division rival is a letting “EDM off the hook” is unnecessary. Oilers had multiple teams interested. He was moving no matter what. So VAN had grit & size needs. He’s a great fit. He’s coming home.

  21. Calgary sports media was quick to throw shade on Kane but Kane was exemplary as an Oiler. Kids with cancer, Ben Stelter Foundation, Christmas shopping with under privileged kids. Kane did more for the community than people in the Calgary sports media like Logan Gordon, Pat Steinberg. Vickers, Gilbertson, or Pinder have ever done. Only guy in Calgary that has done a lot for the city is Eric Francis. The other guys have no right to be dumping on Kane because he did a heck of a lot more than they have. Vancouver made a good deal bringing him into the organization.

  22. Evander Kane is our protector along with a jack of all trades…If we can get another skilled tough player I would feel a lot better knowing that our star players are going to be well protected.
