  1. They might be better than Boston and Buffalo. I don't think they've done enough to keep pace with the rest of the Atlantic. This division is brutal, and I don't see how we're a top 5 team in the division. I think we're a marginally better team on the ice than we were last season, but not enough to be better than the top 5 teams in the division. I hate being a downer about the season before it even starts, but on paper, we didn't make much improvement. The biggest improvement should be in net, but there are still questions about Gibson. He should be an upgrade from Lyon or Mrazek, but his injury history is not nothing. I think a lot is riding on the development of the youth. They could flourish, struggle, or anything in between. I feel like an awful lot has to go right for the Wings to make the playoffs. Personally, I'd rather them be terrible than mediocre and just miss the playoffs with the reported stacked draft of '26.

  2. The bottom six forwards is marginally better. The defense is pretty much the same unless Docker surprises us. And goaltending potentially better if Gibson stays healthy.
Montreal is becoming a juggernaut, and Ottawa will be improved.
Wings – 6th place in tha Atlantic.

  3. Detroit is good enough to grab the wild card but at the same time bad enough to miss completely. I think the season depends on the rookies. If mazur/ Danielson come up and have an impact. It changes the dynamic. As for the defense. Best case scenario johannson takes enough of a leap forward that they can have edvisson play with seider.

  4. Call me crazy but; I look back and see how bad wings were in Dec, "something" happened and they were starting to challenge. So far the bottom 6 has been improved and an upgrade in net was needed. If last years team didn't have a terrible 3month start and could fix the pk an argument could be made they would be close if not in the playoffs. We got a loaded pipeline, tones of cap, and our top players on great contracts. Yes I want a top 4d and a top 6 forward, but I want to see these guys step up as is and show the haters.

  5. I hope the Wings commit to one direction or another, either tank for a lottery pick or be aggressive in the trade market and be all in to make a wildcard spot. Being middle of the pack is one of the worst spots to be in.

  6. Don't know why Bentley is almost always agreeable w/ Fisher…… These 2 guys, especially Fisher, continues to say that Detroit may be slightly better than last year, but for the last couple of seasons he'd rave about how great Seider and Raymond are, like they're the franchise greats, each getting at least $8 mil a piece, yet the Canadiens young players have put the Wings, as a team, in their place, outside of qualifying for the playoffs. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, maybe not having it in for Raymond as much, but Seider has yet to show himself to be the almost $9 mil a year man. As a defenseman, I'm waiting to see if he can dominate the ice like some of the former great defensemen of the past. Seider does not do it for me. He's got that big contract. The Wings are stuck with this guy. Let's not forget that Seider was the part of the highlight footage last season when the Wings were up 1-0 with a minute to go, and he allowed one of the Blues' players to score right the tying goal within feet of where he stood. Then Seider lost the puck to another Blues' player during OT, allowing the Blues to win in OT. Why are the Wings paying this guy $9 mil a year making mistakes like those? And when do you ever hear these 2 podcasters ever criticize Seider for mistakes like that? Plus, that was a pivotal game which could've catapulted the Wings close enough to qualify for the playoffs. When are we going to get to see Seider play like he's worth almost $9 mil a year? These 2 podcasters cried and cried about some of the other defensemen like Gustafson, Chiarot, Petry, etc, none of whom make nowhere near what Seider makes a year.
