I don't think we should sugar coat Marner! Anyone who watched as he slowly skated to the bench for a change while the puck has turned over and the other team was on a rush up ice knows this guy is not putting out 100%!! Sittler,Clark ,Slaming, always put out a 100% Marner is not in the same class period! I don't feel sorry for him at all, it's more disappointed than anything.
Leafs drove a 100+ points player out and got almost nothing for him. They needed changes so I guess we will soon know if that was the right change…

Mitch had potential the greatest goal scorer in history. He needs great players to be great. He failed when needed. Against Montreal, his quote " you can't say it wasn't an exciting series." They were up 3 to 1 and he grew up leaf fan?
I bet this exact same team in a different city would have had multiple finals and probably a cup or two.
Atlantic division itself has been so broken for 7-8 years (legit almost any of the 4 that make it every year are cup favourites), but I mean moreso without the pressure of the city.

One person in particular to blame..Shanahan…got schooled during contract negotiations, thought he was smarter than everyone else by paying 50% to 4 players..and didn't trade Marner when he could have gotten a substantial return when it was obvious he was going to free agency…instead he walked for almost nothing

Like disecting certain games, mitch gave his team mates prime scoring opportunities in the playoffs especially mathews but they fumbled every time.
