With the cap increasing 27% the next three years I don’t think it’s really rich. Maybe it is year one or 2 but after that it’s fine.
Prob have to move one of McBain/Hayton when Desnoyers is ready in 2-3 years. Not sure they'd like being demoted to the 4th & 3rd lines.
He will be a solid player for a long time!
Cole Beaudoin will be ready soon…maybe this year. McBain will eventually move down to 4C
We need to get both Cooley and Hayton signed now. Both are going to improve this upcoming season.

I’m a McBain fan. He’s my kind of player. But I still think the contract seems a bit too much. I agree you need a player like him on every team. But this contract sets a tone and expectation for other contracts . I can see what the holdup was. what should we expect for the Cooley contract 8 1/2 , maybe nine? Or more?
BigJack is excellent, a solid soldier for the team. He did the enforcer thing, when required, when O'B injured and it matters a lot in the man's game that NHL hockey is. Am still anticipating N Scmaltz to be dealt in a pkg for a high-enf, Rshot center.
Barrett Hayton should get 5 yrs/6.5M AAV. I think we will see him take a big step this season now that he'll have a set duo of productive wingers on either side of him. He is a 2C, IMO.
The only issue with McBain's contract is when the agents of Cooley and Hayton see the contract details, the asking price will go up by 1-2M more than it would have been.
All of McBain's numbers will likely go down (including hits) when he becomes our 4C because he will have less ice time. The contract will still likely be considered too much at that point. I am happy to have him stay with the team, though. BAINER!!!!
