The HARSH Truth About Noah Dobson

The HARSH Truth About Noah Dobson
Two seasons ago, Noah Dobson looked like the NHL’s next breakout blueline superstar—70 dazzling points and a swagger that had Islanders fans talking Norris.

Fast-forward to last year and the tune changed fast: a steep drop to just 39 points, mounting turnovers, and frustrated whispers of “he’s not meeting expectations.” So why would the Canadiens gamble big on a defender whose stock seemed to crater overnight?

Tonight we’ll dig into the friction that pushed New York to sell low, the upside (and risks) Montreal just bought, and how two first-round picks could turn this deal on its head. Stick around—because by the end you’ll know whether that drop-off was a one-season blip or the harsh truth hiding in plain sight.

  1. Nah. Bad takes here. Isles had a rough season top to bottom. Just some facts for you: Over the past 4 seasons combined, Dobson has played to a 56pt per 82 pace. Over those four seasons the Isles average as the 8th worst in terms of offensive output. Dobson missed 11 games last year and played others hurt, leading to the 39 points, which was still 34th-best points per 60 amongst D. Guy has above-average defensive metrics and elite O. His contract expires when he's 33, younger than Josi and Hedman are now. This is all W for montreal.

  2. He literally had the same goals and a good + -. You can't blame him for lack of assists with such a garbage lineup

  3. Caufield Suzuki Slafkovsky Demidov Bolduc Dach Laine Newhook Hutson Ghule Carrier Evans Anderson Gallagher. Dobson has options
Blais , Xhekaj , Struble are the question Marks in my opinion

    1×80+ point player , 1×70+ point player 1×60+ point player , 3×50+ point players , 7×30+ point players . Those are his options …

    My guess top 10 :
    Suzuki : 93-31-62
    Caufield : 84-44-40
    Hutson : 78-10-68 ( 8 goals likely)
    Dobson:68-13-55
    Slafkovsky : 67-25-42
    Demidov : 63-23-40
    Bolduc : 57-29-28
    Dach : 52-12-40 ( hot take )
    Laine : 49-31-18 (2nd PP machine )
Ghule : 42-11-31 ( if he finally plays à full Season with Dobson I could see it )

  4. The harsh truth is Montreal gave up nothing. 2 picks in a crappy draft that would do them no good. Sent a defenseman that will never be a good NHL player. Just wait till you see him play. Dobson was playing on a injury riddled team that was not good. He will play with a good defensive partner and be great in Montreal.
