Funny how many people didn’t watch the slow mo angle and believe the shin guards extend to cover the top of the foot under the laces. Double handed slash with the heel of the stick blade too. That would take any player out for a time and longer depending on severity of the injury. Not saying the location of the slash was intentional, but it looks like it hit the right spot for maximum effect.

Not much of an answer because there is none. It wasn't vicious. Maybe a bit firm, but with all the hockey I've played over the years and knowing what can cause a lot of pain, through a lot of injuries. Some bad, mostly minor, but still painful. If it were on the top of the skate, yes, it could smart for a bit. There are some pains that are intense but don't last that long and are really no big deal. That didn't look like it was bad at all. A slash, sure. The normal situation, you do something to someone and that just gets the ref's attention, but he really didn't see it all so, no call, but now you're pissed and you retaliate and guess who's still watching. Don't retaliate. You get the number. There's always later. Just part of the game.
Then please watch P.K. Subban Slash on Mark Stone Canadiens/Senators Game 1 on YouTube… That's exactly how Nurse should have been punished. By the way, Subban was also suspended for a few more games back then!
It's hockey justice, that's the beauty of the game, as a Florida fan I know my team doesn't let things like this go, let's see if the Stars have a backbone or if they will let McDavid skate off the ice without help, or do the right thing. Go Panthers!

Rule 61 clearly states in the last sentence that if injury occurs it MUST be a major! No judgement the injury supercedes the rest of the rule!
