Even getting the 2nd overall pick next year could be the best possible outcome, Keaton verheoff is a right handed defenseman who might be better then Schaffer and that can be our future top pair, another great draft and a big free agent signing next season with the extra cap space, we should without a doubt start becoming a top contender for many years. They should still try to get Issac Howard as well.

Some of last years games missed due to injury: Holmstrom- 7, Pulock – 8, Pelech – 22, Barzal- 52, Romanov- 18, Duclair- 35, Varly- 15. Then there is the long-needed coaching upgrades for special teams. Losing Nelson and Dobson isn't going to tank us. The Isles will make the playoffs next year IF Darche doesn't trade away any more vets and tank to make those 2 first round picks in a stacked 2026 draft return more. I think it's obvious ownership want's fans in the seats faster than those picks will arrive in Elmont.
I’m just thrilled the islanders made improvements throughout their whole system. Next season will be awesome just because we know what’s in the pipeline.

Yeah, I would be surprised if the Islanders finished below 24th in the league. If we're a lottery team, we're probably drafting 10th-16th.

The Islanders had the 10th pick overall coming into the lottery. So who knows. I doubt a miracle can happen two years in a row.
imo they will make playoffs barring crazy injuries like last year
