Note- we had 2, seven game winning streaks with Copp as the 2nd line center. Copp was a very nice player with this coavh. Much like Kane. Open your eyes,. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. This is what he was supposed to be when we got him and Todd Mc. seems to be able to get it out of him ! The past bad coaches..,
along with bad play, does not necessarily equal the future play. A case in point : Larionov Was once traded to Florida by the Wngs. He sucked there. Then they traded him back to the R 0:58 ed wings 4-5 months later. He immediately began to play exactly the same way he always had for us , under Scotty Bowman. When Larry Murphy got traded to the detroit red wings people were pissed ! They hated him like Hall. He played
for us awesomely;
and was voted into the hall of fame. Coaching styles + systems, make players great or lousy ! We would have made the playoffs last year if Todd would have coached from day ONE , even with ALLLLL of our short comings. Do the math. OUR roster is no where near as bad as all the doom and gloom would indicate. Just need a viable guy on defence. Maybe ASP can force his way in early 🙏🫰!
Talbot is a very good goalie.If he's not shelled game in game out. So is Gibson . When they have an average week, they need to trust the other guy can come and do it THEN. That way they can get a mental rest …reboot…and step it up again. I think this tandum is strong . 45-35 split. Steve might wait 4 weeks into the season and make a trade or try a rookie. We will see. He MUST address this problem quick or we will sacrifice another season. I think he'll do something. People are thinking a very offensive Swede from the Penguins on defence, with salary retained.
My dark horse is MBN making this team, sooner than later. I don't think he's going to spend much time in GR.
I think Mazur will be a bottom 6 winger for majority of the season.

Could William Wallinder push for the 3rd pairing? Sandin Pelikka could push for the roster by mid season too, he’d slot in the top 4 which would really help the 3rd pairing.
We are very slightly improved from last year. Hopefully, the dark horse candidate Nathan Danielson had a great off-season and is ready to crack the lineup. Ideally Yzerman can pull off a trade to help the defense, but that's probably unlikely.

Berggren or Solderblom top line wing. Copp only scores in empty nets. Would move Kane to 3rd line and give someone with speed on 2nd. Kane is a pp specialist but a liability 5 on 5.

Hear me out. I know some sens fans that were pretty high on JBD and most of them think he has top 4 in him. What if Mo and Simon pair 1 and aljo and JBC pair 2 Aljo is a LD anyway. Then gus and Charot pair 3

All this talk about how well Copp played under McLellan…what are you really talking about? I don't remember him putting up points or doing anything remarkably different. He was fine. We do not need to watch him struggle to finish on the chances Raymond and Larkin create.
Berggren didn't get a pay raise to sit in the press box. I was as disappointed with his production as the rest of this fanbase, but I think it would still be a crime to stable him to the fourth line where his opportunities are extremely limited.
DeBrincat does not have to play with Kane for the rest of his career. Stop crying about Chiarot if you're still willing to tolerate him on the top pair…and why is it only top or bottom pair? You're so convinced Johansson can't hang on the second pair, as if he won't improve on his rookie performance. You're assuming Mazur will earn a spot after being injured on his second NHL shift.

They did try Cat off the line with Kane, and he did fine, but not as well as he did when with Kane.
Kasper started on the top line wing after they moved him up, before moving him to 2c when Copp was hurt. Having him on wing was part of breaking him in to play center. So having Danielson up on 1LW makes sense to start. If Danielson doesn't come up, it would be interesting whether Kasper or Copp plays 1LW. I look at speed vs. faceoff% being a notable difference between the 2. What do Kane & Cat need vs. Larkin and Raymond? Kasper has been asked to work on his faceoffs, so that could be a difference maker since Copp has a better faceoff%.
Soderblom and Mazur being together could be good, since they have better knowledge of each other from GR. I don't love Rasmussen at center. I'd prefer to see Compher on 4c, Copp 3c… But without someone for that 1LW, it's likely not going to happen.
