And you know this how exactly? Have they ever played on a line together? No. Maccelli might even be on the third line. You don't know who else they may acquire before camp.

I actually think Maccelli will take Marner's spot next to Matthews and Knies. Brad Treliving said he is trying to acquire a top 6 forward and IMO it should be a left winger to play with Tavares and Nylander or a center that would play with Tavares and Nylander as wingers

there are so many naysayers commenting. it's july, go sleep on your yacht and calm down. Trembling obviously was unwilling to overpay UFAs in a minnow market. marner was only fwrd who played 1st line last year, no d-man was 1st pairing. every player I would have offered, re-signed. Leafs have 3 elite finishers that Maccelli can feed. Matty isn't the 'leader' type, any more than Kessel was, with marner gone, team will have no pecking order, no clubhouse, even players on the 4th line (Lotty?, OEL) ) will be able to speak up and be heard, and feel free to lead by example on the ice – you know, 'culture'.
I would like yo see a nylander, macceli, tavares line. I think they really compliment each other well.
