I would be livid if the Flames did offer sheet Byram, even if I think he is a great addition to the team. Flames would be INSANE to give up their 2026 first in a McKenna draft.
I don't think Andersson is against going to LA for the rest of this contract, but he is unwilling to go there via sign and trade for 8 years. That is what most teams want in this Andersson trade. I don't think you can do trades anymore that offer extra picks if they re-sign with the team.
He has a 6 team no trade list. Doubt LA was on it.
1 – I think LA had an offer IF he was interested in re-signing no questions asked. He may resign w/ a bunch of teams but was only interested in re-signing w/ Vegas. Assuming this is apparently only team allowed to illegally tamper w/ players under contract w/ other teams.
2 – I wonder if LA is actually interested. IF Cgy just signed him to some number, say $9M x 8 yrs & turned around & traded him to LA would they actually give up same offer? If so, I like Barn Burners idea of taking control back from players. Just sign him to "stay" in Cgy and then "change your mind" in a day & flip him to LA (or any number of teams not on his limited 6 team no trade).
Why would Cgy offer sheet anyone? Doesn't make any sense at all. Maybe offer sheet Cole Swindt back at a 0 compensation level (<$1.5M) to get him back from Vegas or stick it to there cap. Everyone knows Stone will be "injured" through the season & he & Petriangelo will magically be back in the lineup for playoffs. That said, at least can pretend Vegas plays by same cap rules as everyone else & stick it to them for grabbing your player off waivers to be a 13th forward for 1/2 the season.

Pierre LeBrun reported that Andersson only wants to resign in Vegas currently. He is usually very accurate in his rumors. Andersson may want to re-sign elsewhere after he has had time to review the options but if asked today and put on the spot, apparently Vegas is the only one currently for him. Andersson nixed the LA trade by refusing to re-sign there. LA was not willing to back the truck up if Andersson wouldn't re-sign.
