  1. Nurse and kane being gone would also potentially mean none or FAR Less of those senseless penalties that screwed them multiple games

  2. All I heard from Leafcentric media was that all the Leafs had to do was make an offer…..obviously struck out on that one….and he knew Treliving from past dealings…..that says a lot

  3. I like the signing, but to replace Arvidsson with Mangiapane doesn`t move the needle, especially when you lost Perry and Brown too.
The Oilers loosing their young players like Holloway, Broberg and McLeod last summer does hurt them today.
They didn`t pick a 1st in a while, and with the extensions kicking in the window is closed.
Next year they need a new D and goalies. Ekholm, Walman, Kulak, Stecher, Skinner, Pickard are all UFA.
They might go into a similar situation as the Hawks with Kane, Toews and Keith or the Pens with Crosby, Malkin, Letang. Just that they didn`t win yet.

  4. The "extra bit" that the Oilers need to get over the hump is Zachary Delecroix Hyman, but don't sleep on Alex Regula and Matthew Savoie. And if StanBow ever manages to trade Darnell Nurse I will start carving the statue myself. The likely trade is Henrique ++ for a 50% retained top6 shooter, probably RH. And despite optics they'll sign Carter Hart and try to stash Pickard in the minors.

  5. I love this signing. I was in Calgary and became a big Andrew Mangiapane fan. He reminds me of Gelinas. A fiesty quick player who doesn't score a lot but scores timely goals. I want him on the ice down 2-1 in the 3rd.

  6. Leafs projected lineup 2026:

    1st Line: Maccelli, Matthews, Knies
    2nd line: Domi, JT, Nylander
    3rd line: McMann, Roy, Robertson
    4th line: Lorentz, Laughton, Pezzetta

Extras: Kampf, Jarnkrok if they get traded????? Pacioretty????

    1st pairing: Rielly, Carlo
    2nd pairing: McCabe, Tanev
    3rd pairing: OEL, Benoit

    Goalie: Stolarz, Woll

  7. My take is that offense is never bad but the oilers already had a great offense. The most consecutive comeback wins in playoff history and ridiculous amount of goals scored. The big issue is defense and goaltending. It doesn’t matter how many goals you score if you can’t stop the other team from scoring. But who knows this could take them to the next level.

  8. TLDR:

The Oilers lost four 30 pt players (Brown, Arvidsson, Perry, Skinner). You have to assume that Mangiapane, Matt Savoie, and Frederic are going to at least be 30+ pt guys. Rumors are they are after Issac Howard in TB to be the fourth 30 pt guy

Goaliewise, every goalie out there was a sidegrade that you'd have to pay more for. Skinner is 26, still growing, and hopefully the new goalie coach being brought in can help his development. Otherwise, don't waste money on sidegrades and wait to see if Sorokin, Swayman, Saros become available.

Oilers have around 2 mil in cap space, and that's if they aren't using the Hyman money. I think they look at Florida and their deadline additions last season as a blueprint to leave cap space open for the deadline. Their current team makes the playoffs in a weak pacific division. No need to panic, wait for a better offer to open up.

  9. The real Wild Card is Tomasek, a very skilled guy who won the scoring title in Sweden last year, the year before he had most goals in the Swedish league and won the world championship with the Czech Republic. Very skilled, if he can adjust to the NHL he has the skills to be very good.

  10. Yeah, that’s what you need to win. Another Connor Brown. Please. He’ll have solid numbers in reg season, and he’ll go crickets in playoffs. Edmonton needs a guy like Kane, that doesn’t take dumb penalties and doesn’t lose his cool. Looks like Edmonton looked in the mirror, and decided to do more of the same.

  11. I love this for the oilers. Mange with Drai is exciting! I think we should move Nurse, although the only problem with him is is contract vs production. If the blues are not in the playoff mix, we trade him, Rico, and a 1st to STL for Binner and Parayko (dreaming I know).

  12. if im the gm of the oilers im going out getting a young guy in issac howard might be able to jump into the lineup game conserding he was the best ncaa player this year and them im going to try and get bryan rust a 30 goal winger to slot beside dri give him that scoring forward the he needs then you get hyman back in like december and thats another big win for us im also trading ekholm plus some picls to get a younger dman that can fill his role then im dumping the nurse contract to a rebuilding team and trying to make a smaller trade for like a 10 -15 goal 4th liner to play with kapi and pods so my ideal line is nuge davo hymam
    rust dri savoie or howard
    mango trent savoie or howard
kapi pods 4th liner via trade
this forward core i believe can beat
Florida's HARD forechecking style with the speed on these lines i dont see how we dont win the cup next year

  13. People have been bitching at some of the picks, like Lazar, Frederic and others in other clubs. Listening to the GMs and VPs of those teams, its making perfect sense. Every team out there looking for guys that can play multiple positions, big guys and tough guys to compete with the Panthers.

  14. Wasn't Arvidsson last year's Mangiapane…? Arvidsson put up some solid numbers in his two most recent seasons with the Kings and got $4mil/season times 2yrs with the Oilers…
