  1. That is crazy cap hit. Allen is one of the Ultra high cap goalies that has proven he can carry a series. This deal makes literally no snese.

  2. Allen was great but got zero goal support last year. He stayed where he’s comfy instead of getting a bunch of money to get shelled elsewhere

  3. Jersey did well today, but they'll have to either extend or replace Markstrom. Extending him is risky considering his age, and replacing him is going to be a tough task. #1 goalies never hit the open market, as we've seen with this FA class.

  4. Nico Daws is signed to one way contract. Daws will now have to be traded from NJ because there is no way he clears waivers without being claimed.

  5. Devils do not make the playoffs without Markstrom/Allen — especially given how wrecked the team was with injuries. Just ask Edmonton how important goaltending is.
