Josh Jacobs On Being Told To LEAVE Alabama + Mentality Of Not Being The Main Guy | Bussin’

In this clip from episode 327, Josh Jacobs talks about his time at Alabama with Nick Saban. Josh was never the main guy at Bama as he was with Najee Harris and Damien Harris in the running back room. Yet somehow, his coaches were telling him that he needed to leave early for the NFL draft. Tune in to see why his coaches were telling him to leave.

Get on the bus with NFL players Will Compton & Taylor Lewan! The Boys are letting you in on their hilarious, high-energy (and often heartfelt) conversations. Topics range from exclusive stories to active player perspectives to out-of-left-field hot takes on things you and your friends only discuss behind closed doors. Sometimes they chat with a guest, sometimes it’s just the two of them, but it’s always a good time when you’re Bussin’ With The Boys.

And yes, this is the podcast where Mike Vrabel said he’d cut his piece off for a Super Bowl.

  1. lots of NFL teams trust the bama coaches evaluations of their players. Saban has tons of NFL contacts he's honest with. so when they're telling you to leave, they're basically saying that theyre gonna put out a glowing endorsement of you to the NFL teams and thatll get you drafted high. at least, that's one of many aspects at play here

  2. A great player and a great young man. He has made Alabama fans like me proud. I'll never forget him trucking that OU DB in the CFB playoffs and scoring a TD. Such a great RB.

  3. Would have loved to have seen JJ at Bama another year…these coaches should have kept their mouth shut

  4. Josh just shined on tape. Something about seeing him carry the ball you just knew something electric was gonna happen.

  5. I ran for 500 yards in a game, led the state in rushing two years in a row, I had 1200 yards in four games and still didn't get offers. That is unreal. The Tom Brady of high school overlooked running backs. Glad Bama knew talent when they saw it although looking back he should have started day 1 at Bama but glad he got enough tape to go first round and get to a second big contract. RTR

  6. It would be a better interview if you two wouldn't talk over him. Hard to watch and listen. I love JJ, he's from my hometown.

  7. Not playing full time in college football actually was good for his long term NFL career. Since he's a RB he took less damage in college football. So that should help to keep him productive in the NFL past age 30.

  8. I seriously respect Saban for looking out for the best interest of the player and not just the team. Would have been easy for him to try and convince Josh to stay, but he’s been a textbook pro baller since day 1.

  9. Not many programs truly put the player first above everything else. That’s Nick Saban and the Alabama football program. That’s why so many elite players continue coming to Alabama because they know they can trust the program to always put them first. Nick Saban built an empire that will continue to be the place to be.

  10. Josh was one of my favorites because everytime he touched the ball he put forth 110% effort to advance that football. You could see how hard he was working. Nothing but RESPECT for this young man, ROLL TIDE!

  11. One of the many things that Saban excelled in was gaining his players trust that he would do what was best for them, even if it hurt the team, when it came to telling them to join the draft or go play somewhere else. When Tua took the job from Jalen Hurts, Hurts stayed one more year and ended up winning the SEC championship game after Tua got hurt. Hurts tells the story of talking with Saban about where he was going to go play his senior year. I think Hurts was planning on going to Miami and Saban convinced him to go play for Oklahoma under Lincoln Riley as Saban felt they had the best Offense in the country, best O line, and NFL bound receivers (CeeDee Lamb.).

  12. Lmao being from tuscaloosa… Lmao girls get everyone…. Even in trouble lmao… I keep my eyes to myself and conversation to myself. Do my work and get the hell on

  13. I’ll be a Lions fan for life. But I’ll always cheer for Jacobs now after seeing what a cool/great guy he is in this interview.

  14. The most amazing thing about Josh Jacobs was how lightly recruited he was coming out of high school. I still can't believe the lack of offers he got, and he could have been playing for Oklahoma or Oklahoma St. He was basically right in their backyard.

  15. Already one of my favorite former players for Bama, but I really like his attitude. He was always good for a first down on third and a yard or two.

  16. When you are a genuinely good person, good things will happen for you. Josh seems like a humble, nice guy. Congratulations to him on his success.

  17. Missouri fans thatbsee this are going to cry jnowing they almost had jacobs. No doubtbwould have been festured back there and done great. But as bama fan glad we got him kid was a gamer
