Stan Bowman made his first major move of the offseason today by offloading the final year of controversial forward Evander Kane to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for a fourth round draft pick in this year’s upcoming NHL draft. The Oilers now have more cap flexibility to re-sign Connor McDavid, Evan Bouchard, and potentially upgrade goaltending as they look to remain a Stanley Cup Contender for the 2025-26 season. Kind of a shockingly small return for Edmonton with a healthy proven goal scorer. He must really have messed up with teammates and/or coaches during his time here, which is not hard to imagine.

Cats fan since day 1 in 1993 here…. we exist. Kane was a nothingburger anyway. You won't miss him. Overhyped and average at best.
No serious Oiler fan should fool themselves. Losing Kane is a big deal, he's way too solid a player for Oilers to partway with with years in his contract. For an unproven draft pick. Ken Holland was better as a GM. Oilers need big games, discipline to win titles, they're still only an exiting team like Rangers were, but no final killer instincts to get the Trophy. Still no faith Oilers can win next year, after I had strong beliefs they could for the past 3 seasons in a row. The conclusion remains the same.
Less penalties is a good thing. Especially after how our PK performed in the post season

I assume Evander Kane will be pleased with this trade. He is from Vancouver. Wish they had traded him for Artur Silovs, loved him against Edmonton in the playoffs last year.

I was at Amalie Arena the night Kane took that skate to the wrist and saw it happen – it was Pat Maroon. I immediately knew it was bad – just didn't realize how bad it would be for him.

In the finals, for whatever reason, Kane was clearly targeted by the on ice officials. Kane was called for any little thing he did, while Florida players were doing far worse and oh, look no official saw anything. Example is that high stick (two of them) on Stetcher by Verhaegge, as well as Barkov literally pulling down Klingberg, both plays resulted in turnovers that resulted in goals, but gee, lets pretend we didn't see that but oh look, Kane behind the play just 'grazed' a Panther with a high stick – penalty. Total joke the NHL officiating is (not why the Oilers lost but c'mon man)

I miss Kane but we traded him for a good reason
