  1. Interesting how the “holding patterns” seem to correspond with lawsuit concerns or settlements. It’s almost like ownership is more interested in saving money than trying to be competitive and calling it “rebuilding.” Danny is more Dollar Bill than Rocky, for sure.

  2. What a ridiculous take that Bedard has to get better before they can surround him with better players. The Hawks need better players, period. Their signings from the garbage heap of players nobody wanted last year did not work. Need to step up now and stop moving the promised improvement timeline otherwise you are just in a perpetual build.

  3. Bedard had 38 different linemates last season. He wasn't the disappointment, the linemates were. Nobody wanted Teuvo and Kurashev is a joke.

  4. Excited to see the Hawks finally at a point where we can see their talent pool in the NHL. Reminds me of 2005 thru 2007. Right before Quenneville came on board. Just remember Duncan Keith was drafted 2002 and the Hawks didn’t bring him (and Seabrook) up until 2005 and they didn’t have a winning season until both Kane and Toews were brought up to the Hawks club in 2007-8. Once a team decides to tank it takes about 5-6 years for it to come together. This will be my personal 4th rebuild I’ve seen. Patience is a virtue.

  5. I believe the Blackhawks got a compensatory pick when Kevin Hayes didn’t sign with them after being a first round pick. He definitely signed an NHL contract though. I believe with the Rangers.

  6. I think this rebuild is just not progressing the way the hawks thought. The cap going up this year does not help the hawks land anyone. The only Ace they had was more cap space… now basically every team has cap flexibility. We’re on our own here.

  7. Typical Hawks type draft. Home run with the first two picks, exactly what they need. Then they puke all over themselves. This is what the Hawks could have had if they didn’t move up for West. All heavy players that like to hit and play with an edge, oh yeah, and can score too:

    3. Frondell C 6’2” 204lbs
    25. Nestresil RW 6’6” 185lbs
    34. Prokhorov RW 6’6” 219lbs
    62. Epperson LW 6’0” 180lbs
