BRUINS’ HEAD-SCRATCHER! Tanner Jeannot “Disaster” Signing for 5 Years, WHAT is Don Sweeney Doing? ๐จ๐ป
[Music] We are hours into free agency and I’m already asking what are the Bruins doing? What the hell are the Bruins doing? Tanner Jano five years by almost $3.5 million. For what? For what? They make the Victor Arvdson deal this morning, which I don’t like to begin with. You’re taking a $4 million cap hit for a fourthline guy. Truly. And I’m thinking, okay, that gets them out of the Brock Besser sweep stakes. Yeah, no Because an hour later, they get Tanner Jano. You’ve got to sign him up for a five-year deal. When there is a guy out there who racked up an impressive 13 points in 67 games last year, when there is a 13point scorer out there on the market, you better get him locked down for five years. What the actual is Don Sweeney doing? How does that make any sense? Now the Bruins shrink their cap space down to under$5.5 million dollars for this year. And for what? For Tanner Jano. Oh, he brings a little bit of grit to that bottom six. You want to give him that for five years, man. What are we doing? He’s had one year over 40 points. He’s had one year over 30 points. He’s had one year over 20 points and the Bruins just locked him down for five years. For what? Cuz he’ll get in a couple of scrums. Like, what was the point of getting rid of Trent Frederick when you brought in someone who was somehow even worse? This This deal just makes no sense. What direction are the Bruins going in here? They want to perpetually be the Buffalo Sabres. They’re spending money for for what? You’re giving a $7.5 million cap hit this year for Tanner Jano and Victor Arvidson. You’re not getting any better and you’re not and you’re actually making yourself worse for the future because you bring in Tanner Jano. Next year’s free agent class is absolutely loaded and the Bruins are going to be out of luck because they’re spending up to the cap for guys like Taylor Jano this year when they’re not going anywhere. Don Sweeney had a good couple of months here. Good couple of months. Good trade deadline, good first round draft pick and then this and then Victor Arvdson and Tanner Jano because the only thing that was bad in these last couple of months for Don Sweeney was the coaching search. You got a lame duck minor league coach after like six weeks and this is it. Do do you like the Marco Sturm deal now people? Because you just brought in two Marco Sturm guys for seven and a half million that give you nothing. How do you like it now? You like having Marco Sturm now because now you get Victor Arbertson and Tanner Jano. Brock Besser goes back to a place he didn’t even want to play in. Goes back there for seven and a quarter million when everyone thought he was going to go for eight or nine million. and the Bruins pivot to Tanner Jano. There’s no way. There is no way that was your second choice. It can’t be. And Tanner Jano, by the way, whoever his agent is needs an absolute raise. Like a couple years ago, Tampa gave up like an entire draft for him. And now he got a fiveyear deal. A five-year deal. Like you actually can’t be serious with that You got two guys, two guys who combined for 40 points and you’re paying him 7 a.5 million. Vancouver got a guy that you let walk after last season for 7.75 million who gets over 40 points by himself every year. And the Bruins make it up in the aggregate like they’re Brad Pitt and Moneyball for a couple of guys with some grit who cannot put the puck in the net. Oh yeah, we want to evolve offensively. That’s what this team needs. So let’s get Victor Arvdson and Tanner Jano. This is a brain deadad organization, man. I can’t with this You look at the 2026 free agent class, and I understand a lot of these guys I’m about to name are not going to make it to the market, but let’s take a look. This is the 2026 free agency class. Conor McDavid, Art Tammy Paneran, Jack Eel, Kil Capri off, Kale Mar, Shay Weber, just kidding, Jason Robertson, Kyle Connor, Andre Kopitar, Marty Nes, and the Bruins aren’t going to have that money available even if they wanted these guys, even if they had a shot at these guys because they’re spending it on Victor Arvdson and five years of Tanner Jano. Why don’t they want a future? Why don’t they want to have a future? Like, I know three and a half million is not a huge deal in this new cap space, but why are you locking down Tanner Jano for five years? Was that the first offer? Like, hey, uh, we love Tanner five years and and Tanner Jano’s agent is probably crashing his car saying yes. Yes. like this. This is a dude who should be getting one year 950,000 in his prime and you’re giving him 5 years 3.4 per year. You are bidding against nobody and there’s a great reason why. He sucks. Oh, but damned if he’s not going to push some guys around after the whistle, huh? Yeah, that’s the grit you need. Boy, I can’t wait to see him on a line with John Beecher. I I just I can’t Nobody can explain the philosophy to me and make it make sense. Nobody can. This is what you get. This is what you get when you say that Don Sweeney is going into a prove it year. You give him an extension before he does anything in that prove it year. And since then he has brought in Marco Sturm, Victor Arvdson, and Tanner Jano. You get what you pay for. The Bruins are paying for one of the most brain deadad front offices in the entirety of the National Hockey League. And this is what you get. Retool, not a rebuild. How about you do us all a favor and rebuild and stop with this Stop with the Tanner Janose. I can’t believe we’re doing this again. I genuinely can’t believe we’re doing this again. I saw it this morning after after the Arvidson trade. I’m like, that’s a bad deal. I know it’s a year, but four million for this kid. Like, who why would you do that? And then Brock Besser goes back to Vancouver and I say, okay, the Bruins are just they’re just coasting this season, right? They’re probably not a playoff team anyway. Um, they’re going to get Hagens at the end of next year. They’re going to have another decent pick. Probably not Gavin McKenna, but decent pick. Okay. They’re going to have room in free agency if they don’t do anything else here for next year when there’s actually a a really good free agent class unlike today. And instead, they put their eggs in the Tanner Jano basket. and Bruins fans are probably going to like him the first couple of months because he’s gonna get in some fights and he’s gonna, you know, show the spoke be or something. And then next year when you can’t get one of these premium free agents because you wanted to keep Pavel Zaka and Tanner Jano and Casey Middlestat, then how much you going to love him? Then how much you gonna love four more years of Tanner Jano and his hopefully fingers crossed he gets up to 15 points. This is the most smoothrained organization there is. Man, I I just I can’t believe it. How How are we letting Don Sweeney get away with this? How are we letting them get away with this? They’re just making you worse. No talent, no hope, no future. That’s what it should say at the bottom of these goddamn Bruins jerseys. No hope, no talent, no future. That’s what you’ve got when you’ve got this guy at the helm. Oh, they’re tough to play against. Oh, they’re bigger. Great. Awesome. Florida wants to get grittier. They get Sam Bennett and Brad Marshian. The Bruins want to get grittier. They get Victor Arvdson and Tanner Jano. Catch the fever. Boston Bruins hockey 202526. It’s gonna suck again. Five years of Tanner Jano. Give me a break. What is this team doing, man? What is this team doing? Oh, so glad Marco Sturm scored that goal in an outdoor game 15 years ago because it means now as an adult I got to go pay the highest ticket prices in the entire league to go watch Tano. Bruins Nation, we need to talk. On a busy July 1st, the Boston Bruins made a free agency splash that’s leaving many fans and analysts scratching their heads: the signing of forward Tanner Jeannot to a five-year, $17 million contract!
Join host Cam Stuart of “The Cam Show” as he delivers his unfiltered take on why this move feels like a significant misstep for Don Sweeney and the Bruins. While Jeannot brings physicality and grit, his offensive production has cratered since his rookie season, managing only 13 points in 67 games last year. Is a $3.4 million AAV for five years too much to pay for a projected bottom-six forward who struggles to put up points? Cam breaks down Jeannot’s recent performance, the cap implications of this long-term deal, and how this signing clashes with the Bruins’ stated commitment to speed and skill. Is this the type of move that derails Boston’s retooling efforts? Tune in for the full, honest assessment!

What the f is don and cam doing omg went backwards. All losers signings no offense talent all either role player and goons sick of this management scouting lost a bruins fan pasta leave if I were you
Love the rant! Just subscribed.
I don't get it, they were better off not doing anything imo. This organization is a joke, nothing will change until they start losing money
I'm so mad im shaking
Man at this point I wish I hadnโt renewed my season tickets
Bruins did nothing in free agency to improve the team.
Isn't their projected cap space in 2026 like 25M? Even after these signings with the projected cap increase.
Arvidsson is only one year. There is really no risk there. I like Jeannot, but not for that amount or term. We will be selling at the deadline again and tanking for another pick.
Who could they have signed? Every player worth a shit re-signed. Also I think you need meds.
Cannot agree more. Horrible signings except maybe Arviddson (only 1 yr) Otherwise, youre right. Save cap space, give the kids a chance. Best case, the kids grow, show something and point to the future. Worst case, we sink again, possibly (Longshot I know) we get McKenna, and we build around him with next year's possible free agents. Sweeney just took a blowtorch to any goodwill he banked at the draft. Awesome channel, very glad to be a new subscriber
Wtf
This is cams doing but I mean that in no way as a defense for Sweeney Sweeney's got to go probably cam needs to go also they're too old school
Great pick up 7 .5 Mil for Tanner and Vicktor 'between the two they could combine for ten goals each NICE๐๐โโ
Leaf fan here! subscribed, you are awesome. You should have 330k subs atleast, helped out the Oilers WHYYYYYYYYYYYY???????
Tanner was traded for 1 round pick, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and Cal Foote.
Toronto wanted him today and Boston got him
Tanner Jeannot an Affordable Choice for Toronto
Jeannot is coming off a two-year deal, carrying a $2.665 million AAV. Itโs unlikely he gets another deal like that, but something closer to $1.5 to $2 million could make him an interesting option for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The 28-year-old might consider a one-year, โshow meโ deal in hopes of proving heโs worth a multi-year pact, either in Toronto or elsewhere.
Jeannot has the potential to turn out much the way Steven Lorentz did for the Maple Leafs. At this point, the Leafs may be finally heading off the beaten path and thinking more about spreading out their cap space.
We Lost Mitch Marner for nothing today, can it get any worse than that?
Yes, exactly, everything you said and how you said it was me all day long.
Classic rant. Love the passion, not so much the Bruins ๐ฎ
If the front office got viktor to fill in a hole and the ahl high scoring prospects, came out and told us: we called for a lot of major ufa's and couldnt make it happen, keeping spots open for rookies to fill and cap space just in case we can trade, I dont think anyone would be so mad. We have 3 lines worth of 4th liners. I know a lot of em will go to waivers and we'll get some cap back, but then the org comes out and tries to pitch us on the fantasy of a competetive playoff team? Can they be honest with themselves and us? Would buy back good will
Sell Sway to Edmonton
personally i like listening to andrew raycroft on the morning bru. much more calm and rational. the sky is falling bruins takes are a dime a dozen and they are quite boring. when brad marchand and his new buddies start beating the piss and slewfooting your stars you wil be glad the bruins invested in muscle. PLUS…you want a lottery pick for next years draft.
The Bruins plan is to go out there and fight every team and injure their star players because theyโre not making the playoffs for sure
Jeannot was rated to get $1.42 M aav, most thought he would get a 2 year deal, but dumb-ass Sweeney overpays for him, guess he did not learn from Backes, Beleskey etc. Sweeney knows his job may be online and he does not care about anything except trying to squeak into the playoffs to save his job. I hate Sweeney with a passion and Neely was one of my fav players all time., but now he can go away as well. Watch in 2-3 years they will either be buying out Jeannot or having to attach assets to get rid of him.
