Bro how far do the Avs have to fall off for yall to quit glazing😭
First, I’m happy that the trade happened and it’s done.
If we wanted to create sadness in Dallas, think on this… Mikko probably would have signed in Dallas in the offseason and costed Dallas 0 assets
With that said, disregard the extension with this trade, and now you have rantenan as a rental for 2 1sts, 2 3rds, and stankoven.
As a Carolina fan I think I can speak for all of us when I say this trade could have been worse! Last year we really didn’t get anything for our Guentzel rental. It really didn’t seem as if Rantanen was the perfect fit for us. Also, as it’s been said before, this was supposed to be a retooling year so 2nd in the metro at this point in the season definitely exceeded expectations going into the season. I’m happy with the picks and we will see how Stankoven performs! 🔴⚪️⚫️🌀🌀🌀
Canes fan here…. the team is super young. the picks ensure that they will be contenders for the years to come. The next couple years they will be around the 10th best team…but 5 years from now they could be incredible.
It seems to me that, in light of what Colorado and Carolina did, the best thing Dallas could do is trade Rantanen as soon as they can.
Dallas Stars doing the exact opposite of the Mavericks
I’m sorry I think Carolina absolutely won this trade big time. Rantanen was averaging 1.3 points per game this season on the Avs (playing with Nathan McKinnon and Makar). On Carolina he was averaging 0.4 a game. That is a big decline I understand it’s a small sample pool, but I think a lot of his success is attributed to playing with two generational talents.
If he doesn’t pan out or put up the production he did on the Avs, then Dallas traded away a part of their future for a guy with a lengthy HUGE contract.
Stanky, 2 1st round picks and 2 3rd round picks
I never thought I would hear Brad Marchand and Florida Panthers in the same sentence…
Jack Roslivic is the real winner here. He gets #96 back after giving it up lmao
As a Stars fan im happy but scared that I might be too optimistic
Don’t sleep on the Vegas LTIR’s
Great video man. I can tell you are very knowledgeable
Dallas team is insane! Goaltending will decide
It's gonna be insane!
Winnipeg will beat Dallas
Saunaan ja torille 🇫🇮
A one dimensional grossly over paid player AND giving up too many draft picks ..yeah seems like a good trade…/not.Dallas NEEDS a top quality D man becuase Harley disappears in the playoffs and Heiskanen always looks burnt out he needs to play LESS minutes. Then there is this Lyabushkin I can't stand him he is an awful D man becuase he is like to spectate the puck instead of looking around.
IMO Carolina made off like bandits becuase they managed to get a LOT of value unloading a huge problem that would have been a terrible contract that is NOW Dallas's problem.
The Wyatt Johnston contract was a good contract. When I first heard Rantanen turned down a 12 mil contract I was like WHOA wtf is Dallas doing offering the stupid money then hours later I hear the trade is done my head dropped.
Dallas had better spend the next 3 drafts picking nothing but defensemen.I disagree Boston was not expected to be first many people have been slowly waiting for Boston to drop out of the playoffs and struggle for several years after.
Buffalo continues to make stupid bad trades they have unloaded so much talent they would be winning Stanley Cups.Having recently watched a Bufflao game I feel like Power is over rated I was not impressed. The Sabres need another wow wee Housley.
Carolina is a very, very good team.
Of course, so is Dallas.
Maybe it was because he was playing sick…
Or… maybe it was because he was playing without McKinnon and Makar.
We'll see.
As a Canes fan, now I understand how the Jets fan feels when player says they don’t want to be there even though they are cup contenders.
In the end Canes lost the trade with Avs but with Dallas it was win-win knowing that Mikko didn’t want to be there.
I think when talking about this trade people mention that we lost Necas but forget Drury was part of this deal too whom we miss at the 2/4C.
The traitor was traded.
Good trade for Big D however, they’d be crazy to meddle with the red hot Robo/Hintz/Johnston #1 line.
The west is crazy this year. And unfortunately the best teams wont necessarily make it to the final. Likely one of the top 3 (jets/stars/avs) goes home in the first round since 2 of the 3 will play each other. It's a dumb system.
great vid as always bro, love to hear your thoughts
All the Hurricanes had to do was play Necas on the 1st line with Aho….
Lots of people said Necas didn't want to stay, that's not true. That comes from rumors spread because his dad said he wanted his son on the top line and top powerplay.
Dallas is almost certainly making it out of the West. Edmonton and Colorado have sketchy goaltending. Vegas vs. Dallas could be interesting, but Vegas might lack the physicality and depth to vanquish Dallas. Hellebuyck will shrink once he is up against a high-powered offense. LA has the goaltending but probably gets exposed by Edmonton… again. Minnesota is too reliant on goaltending, defense, and Kirill Kaprizov.
The East is very simple. Whichever Atlantic team wins the division makes the Stanley Cup Finals. Then again playoff Vasilevskiy might just carry Tampa out of the East.
avs will win the cup this year
The risk with Rantanen is that he's highly dependent on his line mates – far more so than most other 'elite' players. In Colorado, he needed to be with MacK – every time they moved him away from MacK he struggled. Similar in Carolina – he never found a fit, and he simply isn't a player that stands alone and drives play by himself. Dallas probably has enough solid flexible talent through their lineup to find a decent fit without disrupting things, but Rantanen by himself doesn't automatically lead to success
I’m sorry but the Stars ain’t getting out the first round now – the Avalanche have a new big reason to break to them.
One word to describe ny feelings about this all: Bittersweet.
I've been an Avs fan for years and with devotion. In January, when Avs didn't waited for Mikko's acceptance of their offer and traded him to Canes, I was shocked, Mikko is ny favorite player. I am still VERY embittered to Avs because of that thing. To be honest, the shine in my eyes for Avs haven't been the same after trading Rantanen, it takes time, and I just don't know how long. I support Rantanen for live now and hope all the best for him, I saw that he was not very glad in Carolina, the trade to Dallas was important for him.
I don't understand my feelings about NHL supporting at the moment, I would've never believed that I would stop being an Avs fan, but after The trade, my faith for that team haven't been the same which drives me crazy… When Avs & Stars faces, I don't know which one to support… At the moment it would be Dallas, I never believed to me say that 🤣. After Duchene dropped Colorado from playoffs in last May, I was fckd up, sad and angry for days and weeks, I hated Dallas… I love Avalanche, I've loved Avalanche, I love Rantanen… Hopefully time will tell me what my feelings really are. I supoort Dallas, Florida, Avalanche.
From Finland with Love
Love seeing at least one Dallas team with a competent GM!
I'm not mad at this trade. Stankoven is a 22-year-old great player who fits our system a lot better than Rantanen does. He's in his first full season of playing in the NHL and he's already doing incredibly well. Lots of Stars players are saying how much they're going to miss him.
We also got two first-round picks AND two third-round picks, which IMO is a steal considering Rantanen is a UFA after this season. Given how well our GM drafts players, especially in later rounds, we're going to be a very good team for a very long time.
You can label the trades anyway you want in Carolina. Current players are pissed at these trades. This season went down the drain.
Dallas is super deep its a shame that the west is going to eat itself so early this year. My money is still on the Avalanche. Especially going down the stretch, they have a nice schedule.
canes ultimately lost the trade but so did the stars, mikko was a byproduct of mckinnon and makar, guarantee hell be a 60-70 point guy with the stars and maybe get a 85 point season one more time but thats it.
why don't you respond to dm's anymore? They say "seen" but never any replies and for a goos couple week stretch you and I were having nice chats in insta dm's. What is going on?
The Wyatt Johnston deal on the tail end of this was basically just sticking the landing with a perfect 10
I think Rantanen (or agent) are poor negotiators
I always thought that Brad Marchand would always be a Boston player, but he will be a good addition to, already strong, Florida team.
Rat sux
Let's go Canes! Two first rounders, two third rounders, and Logan Stankoven is a huge pickup too. Aho, Jarvis, Slàvin, Svechnikov, and Nikitskin is a great core to build around. Rantanen will be 36 and a huge contract might not age well. Stankoven may turn into a 25 goal scorer. Not a bad return for a guy who didn't want to be there and played half assed.
Canes will have a ton of cap space this off season too.
Dallas fan here. We freaking loved Stanky that guy could be the next Marchand that’s how good I believe he is. Guy is 5’7/5’8 but plays 6’6 and has a HIGH motor. Dude is absolutely tenacious.
However adding a guy like Rantanen into the Stars system is INCREDIBLE and changes almost everything for them. He has a chance to really prove himself in their system. I believe it will bring out his natural play style and for him to go at it against the team that shipped him away for the next 8 years… Im absolutely here for it!
I really feel for Cane fans however. At least you got some picks and a proven prospect. You gotta remember and accept it wasn’t Rantanen’s decision to go to Carolina. How would you feel if you got shipped away after everything you did for Colorado’s franchise? Me personally would like to stick it to the team that shipped me away.
Guess Mikko didn't help the Stars much against the Avs.
Hah hah
