We wash [Applause] gallons streaming where the rockets were bursting in air. [Applause] proof through the night that our flag was still there. Oh save us and our spangled [Music] way for the land of the free [Music] and Oh, [Applause] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Hawks and the Oilers tonight from the UC. It’s a high definition telecast brought to you by Sennsylvania. We’ll give you a look at tonight’s degree top protection starting goalenders. Marty Turo has gone five and one in his last six appearances with just 13 goals against in those games. And until last night, Nikolai Happy Bullan had played every minute of every game for the Eminent Owners. He got the night off in Columbus last night. Corsa played here for four seasons for Chicago. The officials tonight led by the referees, Stefan A, and there’s Bill McCra, the ninesman, Steve Barton, and Tim Noak. [Music] Well, the Blackhawks will open up with a Jonathan Taves line. The Oilers begin the game of the a Gany line. Here come the Hawk off the door. Quick shot is stopped. Rebound winds up in the corner and the Oers start back. Gier two on two to the line. Crisscrossing Sam Gier trying to backhand it to the goal mouth that was knocked away from Paryvey. Now Sebrook lost it to Pay Arvey. Another one of their fine youngsters. Here’s a shot attempt. Stopped by Turko. It goes back to Whitney up the boards. Here’s a shot by Hensky. Follow up Turko. Rebound. Oh, shot wide. Gier had an open side of the net and missed it on the rebound chance. And finally, the puck cleared back to center. First period of Hawks hockey brought to you by All State Chicago zone. Good hands. And now here’s
Keith waiting for a player change to be completed. Put it on the stick of Sebrook. Long pass missed. Brower winds up deep in the Oilers zone. Kane missed it as well. And John will have to chase back. The lineup for the Blackhawk tonight is brought to you by Lemon Heads. It’s at the top of your screen as this game continues. Back in behind is Hall. He’s checked by Palmore. If laid loose, Gmerson retrieves and now able to bang it up the boards. Brower braced for some contact. Got help from Topesky. Playing center again tonight. Going to look across the cane and the pass jump as it got to him. The pass comes all the way across. Held in by Jmerson. Pensky had a jump loose. Everly comes out. Jordan Everly is 20 years old. The two guys we told you about. Oh, and a long shot by Hall goes in. Taylor Hall, who scored his first NHL goal last night, scores his second, 18 years old. And the Oilers have the lead. That one a 45 ft wrist shot that somehow eluded Turko. Well, after two oddman situations for the Hawks. The Oilers come right down at Taylor Hall after Jordan Everly just kind of leaves that puck. I don’t know if this puck changes direction or not, but the quick wristster by the first overall pick in this last draft gives the Oilers a one- nothing lead after Pat two quality chances for the Hawks. The second one, they didn’t get a shot on goal. Thomas Copesky trying to get the puck to Patrick Kane, but right off the bat, the first shift of the game, the Taves line was almost a threeonone and Jav Bolan had to make a good stop. Now a center attempt just missed. Pastani hacked at by Henry. It goes back. Here’s Bolan for the long one. Bobby Bulan made the save and gave no rebound. So yeah, Eddie, I mean the Hawks have had a good chance or two here in the early going, but don’t forget G in the first shift missed an open net on a rebound. One more look at the goal by Taylor Hall. And that look, it doesn’t look like it touches Jason Cully at all. And it just looks like Marty misses it. There’s head coach Tom Renie. And we told you it’s a very young group. They are want to make sure the proper habits get developed with all these kids. They’re starting to say that puck went in the net. We told you about two of their young guns here in Edmonton. And the oldest one of those two guys is 20. Everly’s 20 and the guy who just scored Hall is 18. Now Gier bounced it into the zone. Heky pulls up center for Gier. He left it. Oh, and a diving pokejack and Turko saved himself a problem with that maneuver. Back comes Tav. Jonathan Tave is going to drop it to Duncan Keith. He put it in a sharp turns. Look shooting. Good save by Javan. A terrific blocker move. Now Duncan Keith hammers it off the boards out of the zone.
Jason Strudwick who once played here in Chicago cleared it forward. Starti was checked and it’s corraled by Jordan Henry. One hands it out to center. Skilly had his pass broken up. Now the Oilers get in. Here’s Colin Fraser. His shot handled by Turko. Rebound taken by Skiilly. Head it around to Boon. Now Brian Vickle has some space. Cleared it in. Skilly. A drive. A save by Javan. Down to Sme. He put it up the board to Jones who cleared it out. Boy pounds it back in the Oiler end. Donis love Sme hammers it back the other way. Will it go far enough for icing? It will. And oh no whistle. They decide to wash it out. So John Wson must play. This pass told stolen by Everly stepping in. Everly spins. Got rid of a check. Goes across. Here’s Foster who’s got a good shot. But that one a fine block by Pani. Mis Foster put it across the ice. Peekom will send it in. We’ve seen more room in this game, Pat, than we saw the whole other last game against the LA Kings.
No pressure. Five guys back. Everly hit the side of the net. Gets it back through it in front. It hit a leg and laid there for Turko to retrieve. Now some real good opportunities for the Hawks. But Jack Stewie had a chance to shoot the puck right here, but he waited. He made a little extra move and then Hobby Bullen with a good left pad save. A chance for Sharpie. This was a real good stop as you mentioned Pat off the blocker. And then watch a quick stick of Marty Turko comes out and beats Magnus Karvy. Going to give him an opportunity. Chances at both ends. [Music] Now they get ready. Copetsky who as we said is playing center again tonight for the second straight game is tossed out of the draw. The Oers get the puck and Kaggliano wheeled it in deep. Brule grabbed by Calammore. Henner in there as well. Now Brule dug it out clip in front Gilbert and the puck rolled as he was ready to shoot. tried to bank it in offers and it didn’t work and the puck cleared but held in. Brule had to deflect to the corner. No, it’s cleared to the line. It’s held in though by Penny. The Hawks get it out. [Music] And Whitney gives some ground here for the Oilers. Tom Gilbert who could have had a good chance a moment ago, but this could get the puck under control. Sends it in. Sebrook up the boards for Sharp. It goes out. Sharpie did a good job there lifting up the stick of Sam Gier who was in on the forche. Going right around those boards with the play by Seabbrook. Sharpie with a real good play defensively. Long stretch pass attempt read and picked off by Hemsky. Looks back to Schmeed. He lets it go and a save by Turko who will hang on. We mentioned Tom Gilbert and again Pat another opportunity where I thought a player had a chance to shoot the puck right away. This puck is coming right over and yeah see what ended up happening was is Tom Gilbert had to kind of bring his hands into his body. He wasn’t able to shoot that puck and then the puck just exploded. Look how aggressive Marty is even maybe with that arm as well. Just making sure that Gilbert wasn’t going to get to that puck real clean. a breakdown defensively and that’s something Joe Quinnville’s talked a lot about the last couple days is Hawks got to do a much better job of in their own zone and on that play Gilbert too wide open for the liking of the Hawks in their own zone. This one held in by Taves. The captain takes a look, fights off a check, turns deep. Donovan TA spins it back to Brent Sebrook. Here it comes but didn’t get through. Now Keith of the long one. Oh, a redirect from Taves went up off the glass. Taves chased it down. He tried to squeeze through a couple of checks, but it didn’t work out. And the Oilers start back. May Harvey had to just throw it deep cuz his teammate would have been offside. So, the Oilers complete a change and Jake D gave it right to Curtis Foster. Al Henry back. Gordon Henry played 14 minutes against LA the other night. That’s his highest ice time total of the season. Chicago rush broken up. And Hall fights his way into the hog zone. Looks to center. Here’s a chance. Everly put it in front. Harkov. Big save by Turko. Shawn Harkov had a one-on-one with Marty Turko who denies. It remains a one- nothing Edmonton. Blackhawks will open up with a Jonathan Taves line. Welcome back to all of our Blackhawk fans in Chicago and to those of you tuning in to tonight’s game on the Comcast Network in the Mid-Atlantic region and CSN California. Well, time now for a early Ford. Great save. Sensational stop by Marty Turo. There’s Shawn Harkov not able to elevate that puck. For all you young hockey players out there, when you get that pass coming from one side and the goalender’s got to go from one side of the net to the other, the shooter, you got to think about one thing. You got to think about elevating that puck because the goalender is going to slide over and take away the bottom. Marty, great stop on Horov. All right, now the [ __ ] held in by Gilbert whose shot goes off traffic. Chased down by Smith and Ben Smith in his first NHL game. Able to work this back to center. Gilbert there, former BC Eagle, NCAA champion. In behind the goal it goes. Beverly hacked it to the corner. Bolan racing for contact there. Then he gave it away. It goes out to the line. Whitney along shot into the glove of Turo. Well, time now for our Kia drives to the net. We talked about our opponent and couple guys that we talked about in our open. Here’s Jordan’s first National Hockey League goal against the arch rival Calgary Flames. And then last night, Taylor Hall with his first against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Head coach Scott O’Neal and his assistant coach Bob Buggner was his head coach with the Windsor Spitfires of the Ontario Hockey League. So, little bit of a homecoming for the young the young 18-year-old playing in front of his old junior coach. And he said after the game that uh he thought he might score his first NHL goal last night and and almost apologized for it. He said, “I’m I’m happy. I’m happy to have scored. I’m unhappy it came against Boogie, but hey, that that fourth then he held the puck up to the camera.” There it is. There’s my first puck.
Get a good look at it, coach. Three on three come the Hawks. A pass for Taves. Going to drive the net. Looking to center. Balberg stick was lifted. Came back to the doorstep and nobody could find the handle. Taves and did got it to Sharp. Patrick Sharp looks for Victor Stalberg, but it didn’t get to him. And then Gier bounce it back the other way. Duncan Keith. Popped it back to Patrick Kane. Kane weaving into the Edmonton zone. Stripped of it. Carried on alongside by Bolton. Blocked away by Jav Bullet. Hacked at by Henry. It goes down low to Kane. Now Jordan Henry might bank it to the front of the net. That didn’t work out. And we have a Hawks player shaken up. Patrick Kane was hit hard along the boards. It hasn’t gotten off yet. Now the play back the other way. Gilbert and Gilbert could not get it to the front of the net. Then Kagliano did but it bounced up into the air and Skiilly able to retrieve. Yeah, Kainer came uh in contact with Theo Peekom Pat. I think maybe a stick might have caught him. Good rush here and down goes Skiilly. He’s going to draw a penalty and Jack Skiilly utilizing his terrific speed giving the Oilers some trouble. A couple of opportunities for Jack Skiilly. You see the cut on the nose of Patrick Kane, but Jack Skiilly straight ahead speed, splits the defense. Theo Pekkham, the guy that caught Patrick Kane gets the stick between the legs. A little bit of a hook as well, but we talked about Patrick Kane. Watch Theo Peekom comes in, drives him, and there you see the stick catch Kainir right on the nose. Getting some attention from Mike Gsky, the head medical man for the Hawks. All right, with the first special team situation of the game because of that man’s holding or hooking a call, Hawks have scored a power play goal in eight games out of the 11 they’ve played. Edmonton has given up 11 power play goals in their first seven games, but they killed seven straight last night in Columbus. Their best penalty killing performance of the year. Sharp is working a point here along with Keith. Popensky and Tavs are in front now. Here’s a chance for TA cutting in shoot. He scores. Dominic Taves fired it right through the five hole from a tough angle. And on the power play, the Hawks tie the game. [Music] [Music] Well, the entry such an important part, but a perfect pass there by Patrick Sharp. Somehow that puck eludes Sean Horov, but the Edmonton Oilers. Look how easy it was for Patrick Sharp to skate that puck all the way up. Nobody standing up. Sharpie able to make a play and from outside the dots. Not a good goal given up by Nikolai Javan. A power play goal but the entry and the first good pass by Sharpie to Taves to tie it up at one. [Music] All right now. Here’s it up the board.
Block held in by the Strwick. Speed pinching. Put it into the corner. Aarvey braced for contact. Now got help from Hemsky. He lost it. And Vickle cleared it out to center. Here comes Sharp.
Extra move to the line. Force Taves offside. We’ve gotten to the halfway point of the first period and we’re tied in Chicago. [Music] And from our Sylvania Teleustrator now, stop it right here. Look where the defense for the Edmonton Oilers are. Here comes the puck area, Patrick Sharp, and eventual goal scorer on the right part of your screen. Look how much time and space he has in the middle of the ice. And a good play there by Jonathan Taves to put the puck in the back of the net. Hey, and there’s Denny Savard. There’s a pair of Sears there. Of course, the great Hall of Famer and Blackhawk ambassador Denny Seavar. That man right there to our left, Savvy’s right, is Mark Zavard. I think Savvy was doing it. Mark Seavard is a hypnotist and he has a show at the Planet Hollywood at the V Theater in Las Vegas. So maybe Savvi’s getting a little, you know, maybe Savvy’s going to become a uh
like Savvy would show up in the Yeah, right. You get a chance to get out to the Planet Hollywood and check out Mark, your good friend of of Savvy. So a pair of arts, not the marks of art, of course in Boston, but his marks of arts from Alberta originally. Well, I you can never have enough Zard had that attitude for a long time. Sappy’s brother’s a great guy. And all right, here’s a chance for the Hawk. The puck roll loose. It’s hacked and it comes to Hobby Bullet and he’s able to cover it up. Well, tonight’s Illinois Lottery Power Ball jackpot is $87 million. with 87 million.
You and 10 million friends. I I don’t if I have 10. You could dress up as Coach Quinnville for Halloween by purchasing topoftheline fake mustaches or mustache. Tell us what you do with the jackpot at csnic Chicago.com. [Music] I mean, I’m not sure. I don’t go to many casts. Are many fake mustaches gray? I just ask. Hey, a little dabble do you. Yeah. All right, here’s Gilbert for the Oilers. Ryan Whitney. This pass to him by Thrower. Good save by Javan. Now the Oers finally do get it out. And an offside play as the late man Whitney got the pass, but there were two guys offside with Brule’s really ill-advised pass that time. Both goalenders giving up a soft goal pad with a couple of great saves at either end. It’s just been one of those games where the chances have been high in quality. Blackhawks with eight shots, Edmonton with six. Both goenders after giving up those softies have been really, really sharp at different times of this first period. [Music] Now the draw taken by Storini. Moving into the corner on Henry. Good squirting boost to Jake Da. Da who scored his first goal of the year the other night. Bounced it deep. There goes Skilly. He’s got it and unable to make a play as he was hit hard by Sme on the end board. Others looked to move back but that pass missed Jones and Nick Boon bounced it forward. finally cleared to center. Howen Frasier got to it there. Frasier, who played most of the last two season, regular seasons as a member of the Blackhawks, now his first game here as an Eler. He checks Boon here and Henry takes over. Good to see Tra today. Yeah, just had just wife celebrated the birth of their first couple of days ago. Another puck there into center will be played by Keith. Now Taz gets in. Stalberg of that page. Shoot it and a save. Rebound just jumped away from Sharp who was driving the goal. Stalberg has it back for Sharp for T. Hobby Bolan. Rebound to Sharp in behind. Patrick Sharp left it for TA and away from a kick. Get in centered. Little save by Javan on Stalberg. Great shift here from the Taves line. Now Sharp has it. Wants Tave. Knee tapped it to Stalberg. And again the captain’s got it. Go. Patrick Sharp looks for Stalberg just off the tip of his stick. And finally the Oilers come away. He fe more Pay Arvey. He steps in with Gany. Magnus pay shot it in behind. Ge grab there and Sebrook takes it over. Smith couldn’t get it. Oh, we did get it past Gilbert. And now we’re going to have a one-on-one. The MS wait for some help. It comes from Keith who shoots. Good save. Hobby Bullet rebound. Mack loose to the corner. Wow. Jmerson able to get it across and Vani checked at the Edmonton blue line. Six minutes remain in the first. 1-1 the score as David Bolan scooped it ahead to Pani. Kicked it in behind. Sme tries the boards. Everly good pass and here comes Taylor Hall. The kid rolled it into the zone. Bouncing puck. They tried to get it back to Hall, but
the Blackhawk skate color on the way. This puck shot puck shot to the other end. Going to be icing here against Chicago. Well, the line of Taves, Sharp, and Stalberg with some high quality chances. Look at that move. Should have been a penalty right there on Foster with the stick between the legs. And here, Jonathan Taves, Jav Bulling going down, but the shoulder save. And look at the vision. looking to see what options he has. He knows that somebody’s being covered and Patrick Sharp going harder than that. That was a great look by our crew here at the United Center. You see where his eyes are? He still is able to hold on to that puck. What are my options? He’s not just has the blinkers on and just looking in one direction. Man was covering. Decided to take a good shot towards Jav Bolan. Whitney’s long pass bounced all the way to Turo who will play it loose and now Keith lifted it ahead. Popetsky couldn’t get it out. Here’s a long glass by Foster and Turo sticks it away. And now Keith. He’ll circle away from Kaggliano. Duncan Keith the ice time leader in the NHL averaging 29 and a half minutes a game. able to send this in. In six of the 11 games Hawks have played, Keith has been over 30 minutes of ice time. Boon looking for somewhere to go. Rings it around. Foster for the Oilers. Got a funny hop out of the corner and Joan dumped it in. Skilly. His pass picked off. Jones trying to get through a check. I’m not sure why he didn’t try to pull the figure, but that rush went arai and back comes Brian Bickl. Oh, he coughed it up at center and the Oilers strike back. Frasier put it to the middle of the backhand to the glove of Turo. He’ll hang on. Four minutes remaining in a wide open first period. There been 18 total shots already. One has gone in for each team. Hey Pat, last night uh we were the honored guests for the hund club of Kanka Key County and the purpose of the club is to provide for widows and dependents of public law enforcement officers and firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty. And we had a great time last night. Thank you to the president Brian Thomas and Scotty O’Brien. They just a great time. We got a chance to meet a lot of great people in Kaki and we appreciate their hospitality and uh tell a few stories, few jokes, few laughs, good food, couple of ice cream scoops I had. So, thanks a lot to everybody out there at the Hunter Club in
Yeah, it was a a really a wonderful night. We had a great time and uh we thought the jokes were funny. We hope they did. We appreciate uh having us out there.
Yeah, it was really terrific. Now a bouncy far toward the goal and Jav Bullan able to grab the bouncing disc. That’s a 100 club that you mentioned is really what it’s all about for fallen the service people the police and firemen in that area and uh we love being able to help out any organization like that. Lots of Blackhawk fans there last night had some jerseys and golf shirts and everybody wanted to talk about what happened last year of course. So, we really appreciate the opportunity of uh of being out there in uh and can key. Gier cleared it to center. Now, Hemsky turns to the forehand. Dropped it back to Whitney. Gilbert’s down low. The Dman kicked aside by Turko. The rebound right to Hemsky. And he pounds it home. And Alish Hemsky with three minutes to go has put the orders back in front. Well, the man who scores starts the play. Watch the patience here of Alish Hemsky. He gets this puck, he holds, he waits, he doesn’t get rid of it. He looks, and he eventually gets this puck back to Ryan Whitney. This was a difficult stop that Marty Turko made. The puck changed direction about 10 ft out, so he had to kick that right pad out. And then Hemsky after making the pass, where did he go? He got to the area where there possibly is going to be a rebound, but too much time there for Hemsky after he pulled up and Whitney got to the middle of the ice and got the shot on and the Oilers with a two-1 lead. Baylor Hall pulled the trigger and that’s blocker away by Turo. Now Kane Bart the Hawk back. Patrick Kane has not scored a goal in six games. Sends this one in. Now Hall bounc it out of there. Here come Corkov. He’s got Everly with it. There’s the pass heavily to the net. He scored. Nice play Jordan Everly. And the Edmond and Oilers have scored two goals in 35 seconds and have a 3-1 lead. Well, Taylor Hall makes this play. He wins the battle on the boards and then Horov to Eberly forehand backhand. Marty goes for the poke check and not able to get it. That puck actually bounced over the stick of Thomas Gopetsky. And here’s the board battle. Just a little bit of a chip. He gets his by Nick Bon. It never even went to the boards. It actually ended up coming to the middle of the ice. Support by Horov. Good reception there by Everly. The Oilers with a three-goal first period. [Music] are up by two. [Music] Almsky able to bounce it out to center. Here’s Gilbert for the Oilers. Orion Whitney. Sebrook takes it back. ball at 7230.
That’s Sebrook. What a pass to the feet of Stalberg. Keith has to retrieve off and up. Here’s PR. Put it in front of shot. They score. The Oers with three goals in just over two minutes. And now it’s 4-1. Well, the Hawks are trying to clear it clear this puck and it ends up going off the referee, Stefan Oay right there. He’s skating into the middle of the ice. They have no idea why he’s skating into the middle of the ice. The referees usually go up and down the boards. And there’s the turnover and a wide open net. And you can see, watch the reaction of uh Jonathan Taves goes palms up. What are you doing there? He’s thinking the same thing you pointed out. [Music] So there’s Stefon A and I I I’d love to hear his explanation of why he was there. There’s I can’t imagine a reason why he would be.
I think the only thing that hopefully we’ll get a whistle before the end of this period to be able to take a look at it. I I think he almost anticipated Duncan Keith to throw that puck up the court, right? You know, but in that situation either got a bail out.
Look out. Broadwick goes across. Here’s Sme. He shot it wide and Turko never saw that. [Music] [Applause] Now here’s BL who’s checked working against Foster down low. It escapes him and Jill Bear Brule rolled it to center ice. Palmore around for Jmerson. [Music] Now Gilbert back to the oil as we go to the final minute of the first period. Here’s a hawk steel. A shot by Pasani is handled by Javan and Whitney moved it to Halls. He bounced it out to center. Horov has some speed. Gets into the zone. Everly back to Horov. His stick tied up by Seabbrooks. Or put it in front. Oh, Hall just or Beverly rather failed to hang on to the feed. Back comes Dave Bolan. He lost it to Hall. Now a sharp takeaway. Then he’s hit hard along the boards and he got it back. In behind is Bowlolan. Then Kane. Patrick Kane loads it back to Sebrook. He finds an open Keith. teens it up for the blast. It’ll take by Humina and a hack by Sharpino. They score. Patrick Kane who didn’t have a goal in his last six games. A key tally here to draw the Hawks back to 42. [Music] So Patrick Kane starts this play and he finishes it. But I want everybody to understand and watch the front of the net. Look at the Blackhawks getting to the front. There’s a screen out high. Sharp is there. Stalberg is there. Excuse me. That’s Dave Bowling in front. And then here comes Patrick Kane. Little curl and drag to take it out of the traffic area and puts it in behind the fallen Nikolai Jav Bolan. But Sharp was there. Bolan was there. Great passing from Sebrook to Keith and Kainer started it and he finished it. Four goals are scored in the last 305 of the period. And then a little confrontation as the period comes to an end. Kanye and Kane. I don’t know if that’s not an angry confrontation. They’re great friends. They might be asking where to go out to dinner at Edmonton when we get there in a in a couple weeks. But the first period finds the Oers with 12 shots and four went in. And the Blackhawks had 15 shots and two went in. So an incredible finish to a wide open first period. 20 minutes complete, six goals on the board. The Oilers have four of them. Blackhawks postgame live for final results or visit csnic chicago.com. We get ready for period two and we get ready for a new man to man the net for the Chicago Blackhawks. There’s Cory Crawford who last played six days ago in Columbus. He has made three full game appearances so far this season, giving up three goals against in each of the three times he has played. So, we’ll look at the next 40 minutes trying to keep the Oilers from getting any further ahead. Marty Turko will be giving the rest of this night off.
Number 50, Cory Cooker. And I have to say, Pat, in this situation, the first goal, Hardy’s got to stop. The one by Taylor Hall, but the other three he gave up, not a lot of chance for him to make that to make those stops on those three goals. All right, second period is underway and brought to you by Presstone. When you own it, Press it. And the Oilers send it back into the Chicago zone. Seabbrook able to get rid of a Gany check. Marco held in by the Oil and squirts to Keith. That pass off the skate of Thalberg will result in an icing pal against Chicago. Well, we didn’t get a chance to show that one play that went off the referee skate. But Duncan Keith, this puck is going to end up going behind the referee left part of your screen. Now he’s anticipating Duncan Keith to throw that puck up the board and Stefan Oier gets in the middle of the ice which very rarely ever see the referees get in that situation as the puck is moving back. You see Jonathan Tace talking to the other referee Bill Mccra in that situation just in the wrong spot at the wrong time for the Blackhawks and give the Oilers credit. They were able to capitalize and a big time goal there at the end of the period by Patrick Kane. hands for Keith looking to center. Boy, he was ready to tee it up but tried to feed a man who was covered. Taves back come the Oilers. Everly who’s already got a goal and assist tonight. That pass deflected and picked up by Strudwick. Now the Oilers Everly steps into the Blackhawk zone. Jordan Everly backhander ticked away by Crawford to Bolan. Davy Bolan bounc it to Ben Smith. He gains the line. Basani to the net. Smith could not get the puck there though. It goes in deep and all sends it forward. Everly fakes as far as center Kaggliano rather. He fights his way up the board. It’s Andrew Kaggliano. Not helping the corner. It’s taken by Pacham. He sends it across then got it back. Theo Pekkham with a long shot and a save by Crawford. [Music] Roule gets it back. Dagliano from the boards. It’s Pekkham goes rink wide. A long one from Foster. Bounced toward the nets. Ticked away by Crawford. And then Pekkham could not hold that one in. Kaggliano gains the line. Sensky looks in front. Center tip. They score. What a play by Kagglan who with a nearly headlong dive able to redirect one past Crawford. Early in the second, it’s 52 Oilers. What a pass by Jill Bear Brulee. Patience with the puck. Look at Kaggliano going hard to the net, fighting. And look, he gets inside position on Jason Gmore. There was going to be a penalty called. You see the referee’s arm go up and then he points to the net. Oh, what an effort by Kaggliano. But the patience by Brule not to get rid of that puck too quick and Kaggleano just worked. He he he outworked and got in behind Jason Killmore. And no chance for Cory Crawford moving left to right. When you see that stat that Dave Ross just uh put up for us and we’ve got 37 and a half minutes left to play in the game.
This 1984 again or what?
This reminds me of the I was thinking of that at the end of the first period. the old Oilers who of course that had dynamic team of Gretzky and Messier and Curry and Py and Anderson and all those great stars.
I know, I know, I know. But I mean,
you know, a team that now leads the league in scoring won’t score 300 goals. Those guys used to score 400 during the course of the season. And look at the light behind Crawford. It’s on. Maybe they’re anticipating something. They’re making they’re assuming what they’ve seen so far might continue. That’s [Music] his pug goes out of play. Yeah, we’re going to go back to that play where Duncan Keith gets his drop pass from Dun uh from Mike Victor Stalberg. Stop it right here. Look at Duncan Keith. Now, for all you young hockey players, think about it in a game. How often you get this wide open 35 ft out and what what does Duncan Kee try to do in this situation? You know what he’s trying to do is get this puck to Jonathan Taes. Taves was going hard to the net. And from our Sylvania Teleustrator, it’s a perfect example of just trying to do a little bit too much. I mean, Duncan Keith can let it go. He can really let the puck go. Now, the Blackhawks down by three are going to have to kill a penalty. Jake Dow in the box. They’re in that situation there. Nice sticking call against Da. So and ugly start here to period two which carries on an ugly finish to period one. Now Horov dropped it back. Whitney spins it up the board. Everly and spins it loose. Taylor Hall shields it nicely with his body. Aaylor Hall hangs on. Looks to center. Claim right back to him. Hall bounce this one out to Whitney. He sends it off the boards. Now Everly. Whitney has to scurry. Could not keep that one in. No time, no space.
Good job there by Thomas Copetsky. Able to clear this one. The length of the ice. Curtis Foster as we get down to the final minute of power play time for Edmonton. Gilbert. Not help from Hemsky. [Music] Foster starts away. Put it on the stick of Hemsky. Gains the line. Dropped it to the late man. Held in by Gilbert. Again, Hemsky throws that one away with a blind back pass and Patrick Sharp triggers it ahead to Fernando Casani. His long one never got through Gilbert. Now Tom Gilbert ahead for Dustin Penner. [Applause] Marks give it away but on a second chance for Keith. They nearly lost it again but able to feed ahead to Brower. [Music] And the Hawks will take the rest of penalty time off the clock. They’re back at full strength. See if they can use this as a momentum builder. That good penalty kill. The Oilers really had nothing. See if the Hawks can use that to their advantage and get back in this game. [Music] It’s cleared to center. That’s a hand pass as TAS gloved it ahead and the whistles sound. We’ll trickor treat. Blackhawks in the hall Halloween spirit are giving away treats for the holiday. Text treat to be hawks that’s 242957 to join Blackhawks mobile and enter a chance to win an autograph Jonathan Tace poster. That’s shri t r re r e a t2242957. Now Peekom for Edmonton and they get it deep. Jmerson going to feed it up the middle. That pass jump loose and again Jalmerson. Sends it back into the order zone. Peekom roll it to Kaggliano and they’ll dump it in. Good hit by Hendry. Yeah, on Brule who retaliated. He’s going to get the call. Well, the Hawks will get a power play as Crawford tries to get off to the bench. Kane’s got it now. Six attackers for Chicago, but that pass didn’t work out and the whistle sounds. All right, a an important power play here early in the second. The Hawks are down three. [Music] Well, there’s the shield bear brulee. High sticking call made mention of the good check by Jordan Hendry. And time now for Harris Bank check replay. That was a good hit. And then the retalatory penalty by Jill Bear Brulee. There’s a good hard hit. Nothing wrong with that. You’re up by three goals. You can’t do that. You can’t get your stick up around the head of any player at any time, but let alone after missing an opportunity on a power play. Up by three. And then you take that type of penalty. Able to work it loose now. Crank it deep. And that’s going to be an offside play. Matt, tonight I’d like to welcome the St. Viders High School JV and varsity hockey teams are all here in attendance tonight. Big supporters of the Blackhawks and wish them the the best of luck and especially Frankie Aino plays on the JV team. So hopefully they’re having a a good time here tonight and hopefully the Hawks can cash in on his power play and get back in this game. Britney is checked in the corner by Sharp who poked it loose but Everly with time to take a look. Neath a long backhand feed to Copetsky who leaves for Kane who steps into the zone. Patrick Kayes turns into the corner. It centered one and it had the shot from Copesky. Blocked. Taves picked it up. Shoots one. Didn’t miss the net by much but it was off the mark. Sharp to Keith. Now Kane not help from Tave. Patrick Kane with it once more. Duncan Keith the looks across to Sharp. That was nearly stolen by Horcock who pushed him down. The owners are going to be two men short. The Hawks will have that power play. A five on three for 42 seconds. Maybe a timeout here by Joel Quinnville. Give his big horses an opportunity to maybe get a quick little rest. [Music] And there’s the good stick by Shawn Horov. And then there a push. Wasn’t much but enough. [Applause] Going to go back to a short-handed opportunity. I want everybody to watch a play by Duncan Keith. Stop it right here. Look at He knows that the Edmonton Oilers are looking for an opportunity this way. to watch Duncan Keith who was standing right here understanding of making sure he’s going to get back to the middle of the ice, but Patrick Kane denies Jordan Everly that opportunity to be able to shoot that puck up as might have had something going on while short-handed. Well, just as the former NHL coach speculated the coach of the Blackhawks utilizes his 30se second timeout here in this five on three opportunity. Patience here, Pat, is probably the one thing that you need when you’re having a five on three. You’re not in a hurry. You got lots of time. You got 42 seconds on the five on three. You run your rotations. You know exactly what you’re trying to get accomplished. But you have to see how the Evon Warriors are checking. Do they have two guys up and one guy back or vice versa? The shot is there. Make sure you get net presence and you’re going to win every battle for those loose pucks. The crowd feeling it. A big round of applause trying to spur the Hawks with this very important five on three. Down by three.
Taves has got it or Kane does. Patrick Kane floats it across to Keith. Sharp. No lane. Keith no lane. He goes down low. Got it back to one timer. Good block by Frasier. That stung him, but he stays on. Keith again goes down low. Touch pass for Sharp. Got it to the side of the net. Kane is back door. The pass deflected out of the zone and the first Oiler penalty is going to expire. Duncan Keefe will step back into the Blackhawk in [Applause] Kane two. Save. Hobby go rebound. He made a second save on Pave. Now the puck came loose to Brule. The Oilers are one man short.
Gilgar Brule will dump it in. Keith is back up the ice. Kane gains the zone. Spins it to Brower. Patrick Kane. Throws out to Sharp. Across for Keith. He’s pressured but able to keep it in. Tave down low. Now’s Kane 40 for the power play. Payne hanging on. His pass deflected. Good stickme. Payne again goes across to Keith. He waits. This shot is blocked. Sharp packed and a bouncer. Didn’t connect and back comes Kagglano trying to utilize his feet getting in. Kagano a shot put off by Crawford. Rebound to Keith. He figured it ahead and back comes Brower. Brower left it. Copsky had a save by Jav Bulock. Rebound to Copensky. Now a pass in front. Big save by the shaft of the stick. It looked like a Jav Bullet. Puck comes loose. Held in by Boon trying to center. Beckham broke it up. The Oilers are back at full strength. They have gotten through a twoman disadvantage yielding no goal. Oh, they’re still up 52. Back comes Skilly trying to get to the net but not against Frederick who played him beautifully. Nickel is checked in the corner and a big hit by Skilly on the end boards on Strudwick but Hall the other end. Lost it taken now by Skiilly. Zack Skilly has had 20 hits credited to him in his last nine games. He’ll get another one for that blast a moment ago. He fired one here that Hobby Bullet had handled. Rebound back to the line. It’s held in by Cullymore. The foul. Lost it to Shme. Then Cullymore is in deep. He’s got it back. Put it in front. A shot. Save by Honey. Nick able to find the loose puck and pound it in. And the Blackhawks now down 53. You talk about fortunate bounces, Pat. Great things happen when you’re around a net. Jason Strudwick actually steps on this puck and doesn’t know where the puck is. There’s Calamore. He gets it to Stalberg. Quick little shot. Now watch this. Strudwig’s looking for it. He steps on the puck and here comes Jake D. Picks it up wide open net and the Hawks put the puck in the back of the net. Nice play there by Cully being aggressive, jumping in. There’s a great look from our crew. And then Jake Dah rewarded with getting to the front of the net. A big goal. A big time goal, Pat, for a lot of reasons to get it within two, but then also coming off that missed opportunity on the five against three for 42 seconds and then the power play after that. And you know what that man thinks, Eddie? We’ve talked about it several times over the last few years. Dol Glennville often says when there’s an extended five on three during a game that the team that comes through that the best is going to win the game. If you kill it, you’re usually going to win. If you convert on it, you’re usually going to win. The Hawks do not convert, but as you just said, a big finish for Dal right after that five on three didn’t work out.
So, the Hawks still have uh some hope with still half the regular time remaining in this game. 45. Here’s Pensky for the Oilers
in behind. Pay Arby was checked
and Smith moved it out to center. Keith dumped it. Then Smith working the corner board. Then Casani came away. Dolan is in behind. Trying to center. knocking away from Smith and Hensky chased it down. Aar checked as he got to the line. Long feed for Bolan. Has some space waiting for a little help. Bolan hangs on. Spins it to the late man. Keepy fire. Walker saved by Javan.
Rebound to Smith. Leave in the corner. Pani and the Oilers able to get it back. Now a pass for Kaggliano. Takeaway by Duncan Keith and the puck cleared out into the Oiler zone. Ryan Whitney lost it. Here they go. Shot down low. Hobby Bulman. Rebound taken by Bo. His shot hit a leg. Bounced in behind and Stalbert couldn’t find the handle. now does. Victor Stalberg goes back. Here’s a long one. Deflecting wide off the stick of Henry. Now they battle away on the board. Stalberg still with it. Left it for Taves. Donovan Taves. Got help from Stalberg. [Applause] Slberg hanging on and Whitney able to jam it out to center. They’re going to have a threeon two. Penner gets it into the zone. from Brule waits tried a shot that was deflected and the Hawks Henry at head out of the reach of Stalber going to be icing here against Chicago. We’ll celebrate the Blackhawks all year round with a new Chicago Blackhawks permanent Illinois license plate. Showcase your team spirit with a personalized or random number plates. Real strong shift right after that goal by Jake D to see the Hawks continue to get their defenseman aggressive pad in the offensive zone. Made a long shot. Oh, that deflected just off the mark. Jones dug it out but his pass came back to the boards. Forini Priyan loose now. Strugg brings it around for Ryan Jones looking to center. That pass deflected over to the boards and Schmeed gets back. Nick Floyd unable to get that out. It bounced to Jones and a shot never got through and Kane couldn’t get it past Frasier. Well, the Hawks get it back. This one cleared ahead for Kane. And that’s going to be an offside play. Well, right after the Blackhawks fail to cash in with a twoman advantage. Jake Da, a big conversion from a goalmouth situation. He’s got goals at back-to-back games. Welcome back to the Hyundai upcoming schedule. We’ll be in Minnesota tomorrow night. Then in New York on Monday evening, so three games in four days coming up for the Hawks Wednesday. The struggling New Jersey Devils will be here in town. We go to Atlanta, I mean Chicago South on next Saturday. And then a week from Sunday, these same Oilers will be here in the UC. That’s a one of those great 6:00 starts. Not like that 8:00 start against the Canucks a couple.
No, they’re not. They’re not so great. [Music] Everly in the corner. It’s just loose to go, but then Everly took it away. Got it to Hall. His shot off traffic. It jammed back to the line. Or let it roll free. Held in by Everly who couldn’t get it through. Kane comes out. Patrick Payne steps into the zone. Now moves in the shot and it’s saved by Javan off the blocker. Rebound taken by Hall. Able to dribble it to center. Big right there by Jack Skilly to dive for that puck. Oilers might have something going. It’s an offside play as Sharp was looking at the other blue line, but the whistle goes. Chicago penalty box match during pregame warm-ups show brought all the way back into Blackhawk territory. They’re call they’re calling that intentional offside. [Music] Well, that’s I I don’t
That’s where that’s where I think that’s where the pass came from, Pat. And then there offside. I think that’s what it was. Yeah, it was in the zone. All right, here comes the draw. And the Hawks able to dump this one in. Ryan Whitney up the board to GA. He cleared it out. He could only get as far as center. Now Sharp back in looking to center. T the middle. Put it to Keith. He shoots and a save by Jav Bulan. 5 minutes remaining in period two. It’s 53 curlers. [Music] A little earlier tonight, we showed you our US cellular text message poll question a little bit earlier. Well, here are the results at this point. You still have time to vote. Final results will be on the Jose Quervo Blackhawks postgame show. Dave Bolan to this point who so far this season in 11 games has 15 shots on goal entering play tonight. One goal, two assists. I think the coaches would agree with the fans on that low total. Now Whitney coughed it up on the boards. Brower said, “Oh, a little too hot to handle for Skilly.” Now all rich goes wide and box able to keep it in. Skiilly from the corner centered. Bounced away from Brower. Brule comes out. Lost it. Back in Skilly stops and now looks for somewhere to go. Roy Brower. That is shot deflected out of play. Now, we made mention a little bit earlier about the Blackhawk defenseman getting a little bit more aggressive in the offensive zone. Look who keeps this play alive. Nicholas Jmerson does the right thing, getting the puck to the net. But watch what ends up happening right here. Stop it right here. Look who this is. This is Brent Sebrook. Look at the hustle. He wins this race on Dustin Penner. Keeps the play alive. And who ends up getting a puck but Jack Skiilly. So, Blackhawk defenseman reading and recognized. You play like that, you might give up an odd man situation, but you’re down by two. You got a team on the run a little bit. You want to continue to be aggressive when the play presents itself. It’s okay to be on your toes 200 feet away from your goalender. A shot by Vasani handled by Javan Bolan the carum and then he lost it and Everly it comes out on a pass it to himself around Jmerson who did well to stay in his way.
Fernando Pasani around the boards of Jonerson. able to clear it to center.
Ball there for the Oilers. Still Smith in his first NHL game the night. Rolled it loose. Kay gained the zone, but lots of oil traffic there. Then Kane got it back. Shoot it. It didn’t get to the net. Taken by Hall. He looks for Frasier. No. Colin Frasier into the zone with a backhander. Handled by Coffford. Rebound’s going to be held in by the Oilers. Foster’s long wristster deflects wide. Now Jones tries and Crawford with a right pad. Now Boon sends it across the ice to Jordan Henry. Jack Skilly settles it down. Left it for Kane. Back to Skilly. Shoot it. What a save by Javan. Pay the carum. Then Boon got it across the ice. Foster looked to trigger ahead. A lead. Finds Jones. Jones going to get to the net. He shoot. He scored. Ryan Jones with explosive speed. A fine reception of a pass. He got to the net. It is 63 Oilers. [Music] Well, Curtis Foster with the pass and Ryan Jones gets in behind Nick Bon and Jordan Hendry right at the last second. Jordan Hendry did a nice job of not allowing him to really finish his shot in a bucket goes right between the legs [Music] of Cory Crawford. Stberg checked here and Gilbert bounced it out to center.
Hey, Arby. Beat. And now it’s cleared back to the Oiler zone. Down to two minutes remaining in the second period. What have eight shots so far in this frame and looking to add another butt of it before he could let it go.
Eight shots. Two have gone in in this period. The Oilers scored four goals on 12 shots in the first. Brule moves in with a shot well wide and bounced all the way out. Well, they had a threeon two there. Brule just takes a quick little look, makes a pass to make it a little bit more difficult, but from a real nasty angle. If you’re going to shoot from there and you got three guys going, you better hit the net. [Music] Lis made
to Jason Studwick. [Music] Dustin Penner is behind the net. His pass deflecting Fernando Pasani up the ice. Pani trying to go rink wide. That’s broken up. And Kaggliano triggered it ahead. Elmerson able to break up the feed resulting in offside. We talked about the defenseman pitching in from our Sylvania toaster. Here’s Nick Bon and then the eventual goal scorer is right there in Ryan Jones. Nick Bon jumps in looking to try to make a quick pass. Hawks were in the middle of a change. Like to see Nick just maybe fire that puck towards the net. And then there you see Jones getting in behind Bon and Jordan Hendry.
And when you’re playing like that, you’re going to need a stop. And Cory Crawford cannot let that puck go or let that puck in behind him on that breakaway. Icing against the home tide with 43 seconds left and a little race for it. Brower slowing it up for a minute. It looked like he might have been shaken up, but that’s not the case. He remains in the action. Looking still looking for his first goal of the year. Joy Brower, he’s had 18 shots on target coming into the game tonight, but he does lead the Blackhawks in contact. He’s had 29 hits, more than any other Hawks player so far this season. Skiilly to the corner with Gilbert looking to center but too well covered. Half a minute left and the Oilers send it deep. Keith and then it’s held in by Whitney across the Gilbert shooting and that never got through Keith who made a fine block. [Music] gets it off the glass. Skilly was in ahead of the play and that’s another whistle. [Music] Well, the Edmond Oilers so far this season have played four road games, have only two points with the two OTLs. And if you take it back longer than that, this is the first years as the head coach for Tom Renie who you just saw there. Steve Smith, the ex Blackhawk, the assistant coach for the Oilers. But the last 28 road games they played, they have two wins, Edmonton, 22 22 and four. But they are feeding the Blackhawks here tonight. Six goals in the first two periods of play. Little conversation goes on between the two of the larger combatants in this game. But if you’re the Oilers, you don’t need to engage in that kind of stuff. That could only spark the Chicago side. It’s all Edmonson so far tonight. They’ve got a threegoal lead after two. [Applause] Blackhawks hockey on Comcast Sports Net is brought to you in part by BMW, the ultimate driving machine. All State, dollar fordoll, nobody protects you like All State, Chicago’s own good hands. And by Chevy Drive with Jonathan Taves and Patrick Kane drive. Visit your local Chevy dealer. Well, catch all the action while the Hawks are on the road. Stop by the next City road watch at Joe’s on Wii tomorrow, October 30th, when the Hawks take on the Minnesota Wild at 7:00. Meet the Golden Jet, Bobby Hall, as he signs copies of his new book, of course, the Golden Jet. Visit chicago Blackhawks.com for more information. Welcome back to the UC Edmonton 6, Chicago 3 after 40 minutes of play. And assistant coach Mike Havlin is good enough to put a headset on and join us for a moment. Happy, I’m curious about how you’ve seen the first 40 minutes when you give up six in two periods. There are plenty of uh finger directions the fingers can be pointed. You guys have tried to tighten things up in your own ends. Has that been more suspect or is just the fact that a couple of questionable pucks have gone in the net? What have you seen so far? Well, I I I think you got a little bit of both there, but I think uh you know, we’re more concerned of how we’ve played uh with and without the puck. I mean, we’ve given it to them. We’ve turned it over. We’ve played soft on it. Um you know, just not hard enough and the little detailed areas, you know, with and without the puck and uh just right now easy to play against and it’s showing against a skilled team.
Is it is it making smarter decisions with that puck, Mikey? Uh when you talk about the uh the decision- making with the puck.
Yeah, it is. and and in supporting each other, you know, we’re too spread out. We got guys, you know, trying to, you know, you cheat a little when the score gets uh this at this uh stage, but uh certainly uh you know, we got to support each other, make simple plays and, you know, 10-ft passes, but uh you know, we just got to do a better job with it for sure. Quickly, I mean, you look, is this a fullourt press period?
Oh, yeah. We got to go after it for sure. I mean, and we got enough skill to come back and uh the guys got to believe it and uh you know, that’s what we talked about. Just, you know, chip away here.
Okay, good luck in the third. Thanks guys.
Thanks Mike. Underway here in the third. The Oilers 63 lead and Duncan Keith looked for Tay as he couldn’t hang on to the feed. Taken now by Sebrook to Keith. This third of Blackhawks hockey is brought to you by Toyota. Moving forward, Whitney sends it back into Chicago territory. Keith will have to chase it down. Slowberg had it escaping. Strudwick bounced it out. Delmerson put it in there. Everly able to pick up the pass. Now Jalmerson a hoistister would be chased back by Schmeed able to get away from Kopetsky and there to the other end. Another pinch there we saw Brent Sebrook try to keep a play alive and Jason Komar now pinching it on the wingers of the Edmonton Oilers. You asked Jav that that question just to go look Mike Havlin fullcourt press and I think you get the idea that the Hawks were trying that at the end of the second and here pretty evident at the start of the third period. defense and being aggressive trying to keep more pucks alive 200 feet away from Cory Crawford and which means that without question you’re going to give up some really good scoring chances for Crawford’s going to have to be really good here in the third period to come
try to keep his team close you got to score three goals in the next 18 minutes to have any kind of chance here’s Tom Gilbert back for the Oilers Brulee tapped it out of the zone. Kaggliano helped by Bruleon takes over for Chicago and Dow. Now Henry Launch look to complete a change here. Gilbert for Edmonton. Jones cleared it ahead. Colin Frasier’s pass results in an offside whistle. Hey Pat, I’d like to wish my niece, Ava Ol. It’s probably in between presents and birthday cake. A very happy sixth birthday. All right. I’m sure sister Olivia took good care of her tonight. So, hugs and kisses to uh all of the old checks, but in particular tonight, Ava, who will be celebrating her sixth birthday tomorrow. You know, if there’s any cake left, Ava, Uncle Eddie is always available. Aunt Diana brought some of those chocolate chip cookies. You know, puck held in by Colmore. Brower bats it forward. Big old check. Leadwick a ring around. Cortini unable to advance it. And it pickersonson let it roll. Loose and out. Sickle throws it behind the goal. The Hawks will change and the Oilers Gier back to the other end around nearly around Keith but not all the way. Duncan Keith able to take it away and then Gani working hard down in behind. It rolled away to his old buddy Patrick Kane. Now Keith bounce one in there. off the board. Stalberg. Good shot around Hensky for Edmonton. Clearing attempt will be held in by Keith. He’ll tee it up. Fake. Look in front. Oh, good stick by Parmari. He saved what would have been an empty net. Now Kaggliano racing back the other way or Hemsky rather. Alice Hemsky written off by Brent Sebrook. Long pass ahead. Jumped away from Copetsky. [Applause] The Hawks trying to keep it in. Brower spins in the corner where Skilly did with a wrist shot. Eat it out of the glove of Jav Bulan. Everly for the Oilers to Gilbert. Brinkwide is nearly picked off, but Everly got it out of there. Hogs will send it right back in. Five minutes gone by here in the third and the Oilers have up until now not really given up a great scoring chance yet to the Blackhawks. So they’re doing exactly what they want to as the visitors with a three-goal lead. Everly pass picked off here by Henry and Sharp sends Cassani ahead. Then Smith turns trying to buy a little time. Left it for his teammate on the board. The puck taken away by Everly. Cleared it out of there. Al picked up by Jmerson. He dumpts it in. Looks for Dao. Lake Dao on back hand. Help by Jmerson. It is hot pass. Goes all the way across. Calamore there. Jalmerson into the corner. Dustin Penner lead challenge by Calmore, but Penner held on to it and Strudwick tries for a stretch pass that’s broken up by Smith at center. That was good defensive play there by Ben Smith. You saw the one exchange down low in the offensive zone where Nichols Donaldson was coming in. Good hit there by Storini on Smiths had something going. I thought was that puck right away but held on to it a second longer and then Homer ended up pinching in on the other side. Jonathan Taves into the zone trying to get away from Pekkham. Spins to his forehand. Dropped it to Keith. Here it comes. And it’s blocked beautifully by Storini. Patrick Payne dips it forward. Well, here’s without a Q. Nice play from the bench. He got the hand off and batted it ahead. Now Foster didn’t realize this had lost his stick and he did a good job of receiving it off his skate and was handed a twig from the bench. Good play by Steve Sebrook to keep it. There’s Kane walking in. Waits, got a man down, hangs on, sends it back to Keith. His shot deflected up over top of the net and eventually out of play with 7 minutes gone by in the third. It remains 6-3 Edmonton. [Music] Well, and our Subway star tracker at the top of the screen. You can see the numbers for Blackhawk defenseman Duncan Keith. Back-to-back games with two assists for Dunci games. this season. To see him get a couple more here, partner. And watch your knuckles, young man. Speaking of happy humans, there’s the guy who doesn’t care about the scores. That popcorn bucket is bottomless. Fullberg. A whack. It went wide. Zebras in deep. Now Taves helped by Kane. Back to the captain, Patrick Payne from the board. Across for Duncan Keith. His long rister is blocked in front of the net. And then Keith has to chase back. [Music] And a puck is coralled by Sebrook here. Keys runs it across. The cane was going off so and puck cleared back into the Blackhawk zone. Boon pass deflected and Everly now trying to tuck it home. Down low was Crawford. Taylor Hall picked it up. Scored a goal for the second straight game. The 18-year-old Hall. This clearing attempt held in. Hall tried to run that one through his leg. didn’t get it to Horhoff. Another taken by Boon. Patrick Sharp dumps it in Kagglaniano. Hold it to Brule [Applause] pointing back. And Henry was grabbed in the corner. He’s going to draw a penalty. Wow. An offensive zone infraction against Brule. That’ll be his second really bad penalty for the Oilers tonight. Kind of thing you just cannot do and you want to keep your coaches happy when you’re up by three goals. You see Tom Renie who was the associate coach last year along with Pat Quinn now the head boss for number 67 for hooking
the Oilers and again it’s Jordan Hendry again Pat remember he was the one that collided with Hry and they got the stick up here [Music] the former first round pick of the Columbus Blue Jackets gives the Hawks an opportunity here almost the midway point of third period down by three a must for the Hawks I’d like to see Duncan Keith get this puck to the middle Patrick Kane walk down the boards, get the puck to Kate and let him just take the puck to the net for a little bit of a jam play off to the left of Bobby Goolan. He’s got it now. He walks in down low for Kane. Patrick Kane spins it loose to Taves. Copesky front of the net. The back door play to Sharp. He centered it back in front. Taves hit the goal post. Held in by Sharp. Now Keith off the other post. Oh, the puck has a lot of paint on it. Now Keith starts back. Has some speed to the line. Fake taken by Taves. To Keith to Sharp now Kane. Taves. Back to Kane. Sharp is back door. Taves couldn’t get the puck under full control. Now has it Kane could not receive it. Good pressure by Jason Strudwig and Latislav Schneeed. A couple of just great looks and it all started with Kane to Taves and then Taves looking for Patrick Sharp. He’s got his stick ready to go but the puck was too far in front of him but Sharp stays with it. Taves gets to the area off the right post. That one went short side. This one goes far side off the post in behind Nikolai Jav Bullan. So some great looks. See the numbers for Sharpie to this point. That’s the difference though, partner. That pass right and just off about a foot.
Sharpie’s got the stick ready to go and it’s in escape and it stops and allows the penalty killers to get back in. Made a heads up play to get it to Johnny back for that opportunity, but that’s all it takes is that that missed pass and then it closes off right away. Now Brian Bickl to the line. Bickl, Brower, and Smith finishing off the last minute of the power play. Boon put it ahead for Brian Bickl. His shot in and out of the glove. Smith missed it. Then another drive that’s blocked in front of the net. Brower retrieves. Roy Brower let his pass come right back to him. Knocked it to Jmerson. BL in behind to Smith to Boon. His shot is blocked and the racers on and Everly could not retrieve it. Here’s Brule just out of the box. The Oiler penalty over. Brule’s backhand shot is deflected and then captured by Cory Crawford. We’re midway through the third period with the Hawks and the Oilers on the NHL Network. time now for our KFC fan camp. Boom. Some good costumes tonight, partner. Yeah, he dressed up as Hawkins Tony. I mean, I that guy dressed up as Vince Vaughn there. That guy.
Yeah, he’s dressed up as Bloomingdale. I
was going to say like a coach. I was like a coach. was a captain it looked like. Nice pickup. All right, May. Patrick Kane moves in. Looks to slip it in front. It didn’t connect. Henry fights off a check to keep it in. Dao. Hold it loose. Henry across to Boon. His wrist are blocked. Now Pani out the point and it jumped out. Here’s Jordan Henry who’s not in the Hogs lineup four of the last six games. Win there tonight. A shot by save handed by Javon. Rebound deflected into the corner. MS able to dig it out. Bane dropped it to Keith. Heky made the block and he cleared it out. Jake G it up to Sam Gier Gilbert for Gier. He had his pass deflect. Zberg could not get it out. Really impressed with the way that Jordan Everly plays away from the puck pad. Just has that ability to be able to put himself in position either offensively or defensively. Too many men on the ice for the Oilers. Might have got caught in a bad chains there and the Hawks will get another power play chance. And if the last one must convert, this one is a double must. [Music] Well, changing a little bit too early. Stop it right there. One, two, three, four, five. One too many. The Hawks, as you said, partner, a must, must. Down by three. Smith trying to win this draw. Got help from Brower to do that. Now it’s held in to
Sebrook. Ben Smith works the corner. Pickle in as well. Smith came up with it. His shot clock reached just wide by Boon. He was in tight. Boon has it back. They reorganize. Nick Boon finds Brent Sebrook. Now Ben Smith into the corner for Brian Bickl. He was checked and Studwick aggressively got to him. The puck cleared out. Bickl gained the line. Flipped it across to Kane in behind Topetsky. out to Duncan Keith. Oh, and he’s trying to feed a guy who’s going for a change. Bickle lost it. Here’s a chance for the Oilers. Kaggliano. A good recovery by Duncan Keith with terrific speed who able to catch up with a guy who’s got terrific speed himself. Kagglaniano bouncing puck. Popky couldn’t settle it down. And it’s jammed back and held in by Keith. There’s a glass by Sharp. He scored. Sharp with a bullet. And with six minutes remaining, the Hawk trail by two. [Music] The little things, Pat, as Sharpie gets number 10. You talk about the great defensive play by Duncan to Keith at the other end. Look at his hustle here to keep this play alive. Keeps the puck in. Settles the rolling puck down. Perfect hacks over to Patrick Sharp. Look at the screen by Thomas Copky. Head up. Good low, excuse me, medium range shot by Patrick Sharp with the screen in front. And the Hawks got some life on that must power play. Only down by two now. Second power play gal of the game for Chicago. And the Oilers will dump it in. Keith is back looking to speed out of his own. forgot the puck behind but now it’s cleared back to Taves Struggage in his way it over to the boards as Kel Kane who shot is picked aside by the right pad of Jav Bulan and now Studwick [Music] let that one go it’s going to slide the length per icing against the order if you’re Tom ready you might want to think about a timeout here Pat you got might be on the run a little bit. You got some tired players out on the ice even though you’re up by two goals. Looks like he’s going to let his team stay out there. So, a big face off to the left of Jav Bullan with Horov for the Oilers and Jake D for the Hawks. Oilers as a team, the second worst faceoff team in the league. They got possession this time. Got it out quickly. Edmonson as a as a group 43% of the faceoff and
only one club is worse than that but they got that important win. D keeps it in. It’s rolled out. Wow. He was nobody was sure who was going to play it. Here’s Rwick. Almost nobody did. Charmerson bouncing loose. It comes back to Cullmore shooting that deflected up high and out of play. Just under five minutes remaining now in the third. Hawks down a pair. Well, a bouncing puck in front of Nikolai Jav Bullan. Jason Shrudwick’s going to take it. No, Nikolai Hobby Bullan has to kick his leg out and keep that play alive. The Ice Time leader for the Eminent Oilers is Ryan Whitney. And you see, look at the difference. He’s third in the league in ice time and he’s three minutes behind that guy. I mean, that’s a remarkable discrepancy. And we pointed out earlier that Duncan Keith has been 30 minutes or more for six of the first 11 games with action. Pretty good chance he might get to that number tonight. This behind situation. Long blast here. Goes just wide. And Sharp retrieves. [Music] Whitney for the he came into the game as their leading scorer. That many defense would lead their team in scoring. But Whitney
led the Oilers coming into tonight with eight assists. No goals. Back to the goal. It cleared around. Palmore Sharp who rolled it loose. Penner takes it away. Mmerson’s back. Wonder if Joel’s gonna be thinking about that. If it gets down to the two minute mark and they’re down by two. Whenever he gets aggressive against Cory Crawford off the ice maybe in that two two and a half range. Well the speed but gets it. Ain’t shooting. Homie tried to go five hole that time but Abby Bullet shut the door. Held in by Keith the Sebrook. Wait for traffic. He got it to Kane.
Patrick Payne hangs out. His drive is blocked. Zbrook has to chase back. Three and a half left in regulation. 64 Edmonton. Shot here deflected up off the glass. Now held in by Da in behind a stalberg whose wraparound is handled by the Moolin wall and he hangs on to it. game.
Well, Jonathan Taz back in the first period had a very similar situation coming down those left wing boards on a power play as you called it Pat. He tried to go between the legs and a little bit too much on the short side in the same exact shot that he had on that power play goal with Javon denied. Held in here. Boon shot blocked away by Javen. bounced loop in front of H. Hobby Bullet. A pipeline save on Don down a ref round and that’s stopped by Jav Bullet. Frasier chased it down. Cleared it. He’ll take an icing call here after some real good Blackhawk pressure, but Javan biting the hand that once fed him and fed him nicely for four years. Thought there was going to be a high stick here, Pat, when this puck comes up right there. I thought it was a high stick by Jake Dow. The Blackhawks are the next possession to touch that puck, but I think the Oilers had kind of anticipated that as well. And Hobby Bowl a real good stop. [Music] We see his workload tonight. Jav Bulan who came into the game against in his career against the Hawks with a record of 127 and one and a great save percentage of 93 and he’s imp provided some really important stops for the visitors here tonight particularly in the late going. Tom Renie now has utilized his time out. He’s not liking what he’s seeing the last few shifts here from the Oilers. And it’s a very young team. This is a a good teaching moment for a team trying to protect a lead on the road and and learning in in this environment. It’s just reminders. It’s about never a bad play to go ahead and pound that puck around the board. And Pat, you made mention about a little bit earlier about the the struggles of this team. since right before Christmas time and they were decimated by injuries real early in the season in particular Nikolai Javan [Music] Cory Crawford still in the net here Patad big face up maybe the Hawks get possession Crawford make a beline for the bench [Music] taves and Frasier with Taves And a long shot by Keith but save Hobby Bul rebound back at 15 and Jame seemed to get a piece of that. Now Kane settles a bouncer down then was checked and the Oers Oh, they had it. They failed to clear it. Ryan Jones with his head down. Could not get that out. Held in by Kane. Frasier checked by Kane. Now Tay trying to try it loose. Colin Frasier put it around the boards to Ryan Whitney. He cleared it out of there. It’s going to be on target. So Crawford has to play it and therefore no icing for the Oilers. Now we are down to two minutes left in the third. Edmonton up two and Gilbert bats it to center. Crawford heading toward the bench. stays on for the moment as Hawks have to chase it back now. There he goes. And here come the Blackhawks. Ben Smith to the corner. Gopetsky. Bends it in deep. Smith checked by Schmeed. Dpped it back. A long one from Boing. Went wide. And good work by Enty to get it out. Kanye with an empty net. Edmonton will win the game. Sam Gier scores the seventh of the night for the Edmonton Oilers who will pick up their first road win of the season. [Music] Second of the night, but the play was made on the boards, Pat. Here’s Alexky. Watch the play on the boards here to win this battle. This puck goes around the boards. It’s hard. It’s a body on body. He wins the battle on Nicholas Jmerson. Here comes the support by Gier. I don’t think Hemsky’s going to get an assist. But it’s a little thing that allowed that puck to get outside the zone and Gier doesn’t miss. And you see the tap on the shoulder. There’s Tom Renie coming across. And there’s a veteran player, an older guy who’s been around for a few years. HKY never been known as a guy to win many board battles.
So good recognition by his coach to say that’s the kind of thing we need from you on a regular basis.
And that goes a long way. And we’ve seen it with the Blackhawks over the last handful of years of veteran guys doing those little things and it’s infectious partner, right? Players see it, young players see it. That’s the way that you do it. And may you may not get on a score sheet, but that goal doesn’t happen if you don’t get in. You don’t engage physically and win that battle. Bullying handles this 40 foot wrist and Hensky does picking up up an assist on the empty net. Well, after the game, stick around for Jose Quervo Blackhawks postgame live highlights, postgame reaction, analysis with Chris Bowden and Stevie Conroy. Don’t miss Jose Quervo Blackhawks postgame live right after the game on Comcast Sports Net. Well, the Hawks will head to Minnesota for a contest tomorrow night and then to New York on Monday night. So, another sequence of three games in four days here for Chicago. busier than anybody else in the league. Entry got ridden hard by Brule picked it up.
We’re down to half a minute left. Take on a team tomorrow night, Pat, that couple of weeks ago were reeling. Coach wasn’t happy. Had a real tough practice since that point. They’ve only lost one game. I think they’re four- one since Todd Richards decided to skate his team. and playing very well defensively and getting contributions from a lot of different players. Going to be a tough battle tomorrow night. Henry’s long one floats wide and this game comes to an end and the Edmonton Oilers who had won two games on the road out of their last 28 walk into the United Center. They score four in the first, two in the second, one more in the third and pace the Blackhawks here tonight seven to four. Then the Hawks now at home are four and four and overall 65 and one. The Alexis pursuing perfection player of the game tonight is Duncan Keith. Another huge amount of ice time tonight. You see 28 minutes. He assisted on three of the four Blackhawks goals and he was among the leaders for the home side tonight. Lots of mistakes, particularly early when the Edmonders scored three goals in the last three minutes of the first period. A game that uh had been fun to watch with lots of chances at either end turned into a come from behind scenario for the Blackhawks and they never did catch the Oilers who now pick up their third win of the year. They’re 34 and two overall. [Music] Coming up next, the Joseé Quervo postgame show. Chris Bolton and Steve Conroy have that for you. No, that’s not them.
For our entire Comcast Sports Net crew and Freddy, Pat Foley, hoping you enjoyed the broadcast in spite of the outcome. Edmonton 7, Chicago 4. See you again tomorrow night. So long, everyone. [Music] [Music]
