Knies contract = fair on both sides. Tavares deserves flowers for his signing too. Legends row if he wins one. It's about time they wanna win

Vegas just traded hauge to Nash for sissons and Lauzon. I’m assuming the trade will go through for Roy since they just got Sissons (a centre) back.
While Treliving should be applauded for not getting hosed by Tavares,, what’s a little lost is the Leafs future is not good. They are taking a step back this season with very little viable trade pieces. If they are holding out for the 2026 free agent class, and they seem to have no choice, then by the 2026/27 the defence will be aging and decidedly worse as will Tavares. tanev already looks to be braking d9wn and did not look good in the playoffs because he worn out. And that’s assuming that Matthews is not broken down with his wonky back. The future is not bright.
So knies gets 8 as a 50 point player and gets praised but marner gets ridiculed for getting 11 at the same age when he's literally 20 times the player.

A little revisionist history with Marner. They offered him 14 million a year during the season and Marner said no thanks. The Leafs were more than willing to keep him and bring it back but Marner forced their hand
Leafs still have to do something with Morgan Rielly. He is weak defensively and isn't scoring enough. He is really a third pairing defence man now. He is a weak link in their defence. If they can't move him, they should buy him out. Expensive, but Leafs can afford it. Then they can go after Aaron Ekblad or Provorov.
Marner is a 25 goal scorer. You don’t pay Draisaitl money for assists, many of them secondary, and a ghost in the playoffs. He’s a 10M a year player. Bye, bye Princess
Obviously Vegas and Marner were talking, half of the Leafs players knew he was going out west. Some players on the Leafs are on record for saying this a month ago.
Vegas was negotiating illegally. Should have acquired his rights from Toronto.
Leafs need a whole second line. If Nylander plays with Matthews, and Tavares centres the third line, they basically need a second line.
