This has gotten so ugly…

On Marner and his new stint with the Golden Knights… that and more on today’s NHL hockey video.

  1. Everything is Marners fault and no one else gets held accountable, leafs fans are pathetic and continue to prove why theyre the most insufferable, entitled fan base besides the dallas cowboys. Never change Toronto, heres to another 50 years of misery.

  2. We often judge Leafs fans by the vocal minority, but that doesn’t reflect the fan base. As a Leafs fan, I’m happy for Marner and believe this can benefit both sides. Toronto needs fewer superstars and more players with heart who truly want to win here.

The media blew it out of control stating we can't get past the second round. We lost to a top-tier Panthers team and put up a better fight then the Oilers.

  3. Well, IMO… I think one could argue that Mitchy may have actually been the Most consistent player over the long (6-8 yr) tenure. However,, any hockey player who knows what it's like to be "On the Trading Block".. can attest that it SUCKS! Imagine being Him… where EVERY single day (in the Toughest & Most Critical hockey Market… in the World!) you know that YOU are The #1 PRIME Target to be dealt -Except… it NeverPH-ends! (I also Agree with @chrislaverick6413 below)

  4. Marner is a soft player and thats not changing in Vegas. Can't wait to see him fold against pretty much every team in the Pacific.

  5. Personally, all the hoe hum is over and I as a VGK fan could really care less. If the guy produces (in the playoffs as well) then I have no issues

  6. Yeah Toronto Canada…. Literally the worst culture, Ottawa is just as bad. Everyone in Canada is so negative and always saying how something could do it better and is quick to bandwagon. That’s Canadians for you, it’s all talk nothing gets done, Trudeau did nothing good talking sunshine and rainbows for a decade and straight up ruined Canada. And like look at what actually get done in Canada it’s laughable. Much smaller economy than Texas and 10 million more people.

Also this great for marner, imagine the life style change. LA is so much nicer than Toronto, and funny enough more affordable than Toronto. No luxury taxes. La is cultural hub with real culture and celebrities…. Toronto has ….drake

  7. How come no one is saying how leafs getting shit 💩 for Marner?!? Marner is a 100+ points and we got Roy who barely got 41 points. 🤦🏿‍♂️

  8. I not sure if he had a plan or not but admitting you were talking about moving before the season was over doesn't look good. Should have picked his words more clearly

  9. None of this ever should have gotten to this point. I blame the vast majority of it on Shanahan. None of them should have been given these ungodly amounts of money for having accomplished nothing but minimal regular season success. Mathews at least won a couple Rockets, and a Hart (whether he really deserved it is another matter), so I could see him making a bit more.
But bringing in Tavares, Dubas handing out contracts with NMC's, then Shanahan under cutting the process and insisting they'd all be back when they had a chance to deal Marner before the NMC kicked in…
If they'd dealt Marner then I think fans might have been somewhat shocked, but it would be understandable. After the collapse against Montreal in 2021 there should have been changes, but they kept this group together, and that is where a lot of the fans frustration came from. They kept going out in increasingly ridiculous ways in the playoffs, while looking completely inept while doing so.
The fact Marner was on the ice for the OT winner for Boston last year looked really bad too. Is it fair? Not entirely, but sport is a "what have you done lately" type of business, and 100pts in the regular season is quickly forgotten when team success is non-existent in the playoffs.
As for the people saying Mathews should be getting more heat… Yes, he should be. 2 years in a row he's been "hurt" or "ill" in the playoffs. This year was especially galling since if he'd known he was hurt since training camp, as he claimed, then he should have gone LTIR, freed up some cap space like all the other teams seem to do, and gotten himself healthy to actually do something in the playoffs.
He is paid more than everyone else in the league, but in the playoffs is rarely even the best player on his own team, let alone the best player in the league. McDavid, Draisaitl, McKinnon, Raantanen… they may not always win, but they're rarely invisible for even a game, let alone multiple playoff rounds. Don't even get started on the Panthers…
This Leafs team needed something to change, it did. It'll be up to the remaining players to push this team further.

  10. Marner had every opportunity to sign a contract, and lots of time to think about it, but Marner decided to leave. The leafs lost a great regular season player, who was not good enough in the playoffs.

  11. I personally couldn’t care less if Marner plays in Vegas or anywhere else that wants to pump his ego, he’s loving it right now, wait until the first time he gets criticized, Marner shows his true colours when he’s asked for some accountability, dude really can’t take the slightest criticism, fans are going to criticize when you get paid 11 mil and you disappear in the playoffs,Vegas gloating about getting Marner and treating him like a god is a little premature, I get they want to rub it in but you better treat little Mitchy the same way when he lobs the puck over the glass then cries in the penalty box or makes his spinorama pass to nobody and puck ends up in the back of your net, then stands in front of the press saying he doesn’t feel he did anything wrong, dude has zero self awareness, but ya, blame leafs fans for holding little Mitch accountable for being a playoff dud

  12. I know I'm speaking for a lot of hardcore Leafs fans when I say this… we were ready to move on from Mitchy years ago, it's finally happened and hey we got a big body 3rd line center in return with 2 years left, great… The real fans have known since after the habs series defeat that we needed a culture/DNA change and of the "core 4" it was obviously Mitch. Overpaid winger, never shows up in the big games, becomes a high risk, high flying pizza chef in the biggest moments. Matthews is now squarely in the spotlight, he NEEDS to be better, never should have taken the 'C' off John. Dubus ruined the chances of this team becoming something special when he gave them all insane deals in their FIRST contracts… Shanny did turn the off ice/alumni into something amazing but his on-ice product is absolute garbage. Tree has done a fine job patching up the last year (his first year was a rush into the job type thing) and for me it's one last try for Matthews before I'm ready for him to fucking go away honestly too.

VGK, you got a grade A regular season performer but come playoffs… you'll find out.

  13. Big leafs fan, i hold no grudge against marner, honestly didnt know the fanbase on large did. Nobody ever stepped up when it mattered, mitch included, but why tf is it on him? (although ok with him leaving) Pregnant wife due soon? why would i expect anyone to waice a no trade when that's going on. Last decade with nothing to show for it i'll always be dissapointed, but I'll be on my feet for mitchy when he comes back next season

  14. Tavares is a hometown guy and actually proved he wants to win in Toronto over MONEY. Marner wants his 12 million which is equivalent to making 15 million in Toronto cuz of the no state tax in Nevada. Don’t claim you wanna do anything you can to win in ur hometown then not take less to make the team better.

  15. I think Mark Stone is going to help Mitch become a more composed player. I'm sure Stone and Theodore had some good conversations during the 4 Nations Tournament. First it was Willy as the scapegoat in the end, it was Mitch hung out to dry. I wish him the best of success in Vegas.
