Are Oilers making a mistake if they don’t address their goaltending?
OverDrive host Bryan Hayes and TSN Hockey analyst Martin Biron discuss the Oilers and whether or not they would be making a mistake by not addressing their goaltending.
I don’t know why they keep saying pickard has to go…. He was amazing for them in the playoffs besides one game basically. Game 5 wasn’t his fault by any means. Get rid of skinner!!! For the love of god
There's no goalie available… Skinner will do what he always do, give false hope to everyone else but me and do 6 shutouts in 10 games right before the trade deadline in March and then they will think omfg Skinner is the best!!!!! they will keep him and then he will choke in the playoffs as usual
Oilers management are playing with fire keeping Stu as undisputed number 1. It’s an absolute joke how terrible oilers management has been addressing the position over the years.
The Oilers problems are much deeper than goaltending. Any other team with McDavid and Draisaitl in the lineup for 10 years would have won multiple championships by now.
They also need better goalie coaching staff, would love to see Grant, Ranford, or Roloson come back as a goalie coach. As for their goal tenders now, they needed to do the change a year ago, problem for the Oilers as mentioned in the video above is the goalie markets isn't the best right now. They need a goalie reliable with the style of any of the three names mentioned earlier. I would get rid of Skinner and develop Pickard as he has lots of potential and growth that can happen. If Bowman can't have the guys to change around the goaltending situation, then he needs to step down and let someone else take over who can make mean full changes that will strengthen the Oilers to win the cup.

What are their options, realistically? No point in making a change if you can't get a clear upgrade. Nobody wants another Campbell episode.

Silovs is the best bet. Or trade Quick for Skinner. He’s a better mentor.kuemper is also slept on too.

That’s the biggest problem with the Oilers. Skinner and Pickard need to be replaced.
