  1. Eklund is going to be the far better offensive player and they need goals. But let's be real – sometimes listening to the fan base can bite you in the ass as a franchise. It's clear the loudest voices in the fan base hate Swedish players and are stuck in a very 1980s way of thinking and judging from the picks, there was a concerted effort not to pick a Swedish player. I'm not saying Cootes is a terrible pick. But if he maxes out as a 3rd line shutdown centre and Eklund is a top 6 forward who scores 70-80 points, they probably made the wrong pick. You obviously need Cootes' skill set to win, but you also need to be able to score to win.

  2. It's not Eklund being a swede he's a another small winger and we need centers. And we already have multiple small wingers

  3. first at the rink last to leave. work ethic.
captain on Canadian national junior team. character.
kids got the dawg in him. grit.

he will end up 6"0-6"1 190- 200 lbs
    need more like this.

  4. If EP turns it around and Demko stays healthy, and Joshua has a good summer with testicles back to normal, we are talking about a totally different team, aren’t we?

  5. As for the poll question, I neither like or dislike the Canucks using the pick. It's not as if they didn't try to move it, several teams were trying to deal their mid round picks, so that was not totally in their control. Using the pick for Cootes is fine with me. They address a critical need in the organization and get a character player as well, something the room desperately needs more of. Not dancing in the streets but I'm not disappointed either. Good, solid mid round pick.
