  1. Another thought may be these top guys are all waiting one another out to see who makes the first move and at what price.
    After a start to FA where the defending champs are taking pay cuts. Maybe these guys don't want to be the first to take the new league record.
    Like McDavid could and absolutely deserves the full 20% That puts him around 20+m AAV.
    I'll be shocked if any of these guys take over 15 but I really think Kaprizov takes the 16 knowing the massive salary cap increases.
    12% basically hamstrings any franchise from acquiring the necessary depth to really compete. But its looking like there wont be enough players available for that to matter. With additional expansion and cap raising – as Russo noted, there is no reason teams don't resign guys right now unless they really don't want a player. Or contracts are going to exponentially explode with guys like Buium asking for 9-10+ right out of the gate if he lives up to his expectations.
    Just some food for thought on the delay in these top guys like McDavid, Eichel and Kaprizov signing.
