Instead of taking on Kadri and his 7 million, offer sheet 22 year old Mason Mctavish for 6.5 million.
It's not 2019. Kadri for 7 mil is a stupid move. Trade market = you have to give something to get something. Unless you are blowing up the leafs, they have limited assets and no 1st round picks. Team is what it is. Free agency was where Treliving needed to make a splash and he failed. There is always next year. Just please get a return for Matthews instead of letting him walk for nothing like Marner.
This would be an interesting move. Kadri would fit in well within the Berube system. He has both matured and gained vast experience since last in the big smoke. I woukd be interested in what was going out, but this looks like a good fit for the Leafs.

Dubas and Shanahan were responsible for the horrible decision to trade Kadri when they did. He was exactly what they needed and should have stayed with the team. WHo knows if this is true or not, but at 34 I wouldn't expect him to be the player he was when they traded him, but he is still good and playes with an edge that they still need.

Does Kadri have any trade protection ( preventing a trade elsewhere ) as I think Calgary is so against a Toronto trade unless the deal was too good to pass up , or if Kadri asked for it and they wanted to do " the right thing " by him .
With that offer I would take Kadri for sure, even if you have to upgrade the draft pick I am stil OK with it.
