Great podcast boys, I think the move was on the radar, i just dont think Z ever really bought the "other" parts of hockey, and while i would say Z did seem to get "better" defensively, i think the Ducks expected him to be able to take over games. I hope he does well in Philly, but i just not sure he is cut out for the NHL.
If the Ducks sign Tavares and Marner, moving Z makes sense.
This made me sick tbh, I could feel a pit in my stomach the moment I saw the trade. Z is probably hitting career highs with michkov this year
As a Flyers fan, i haven’t heard much negative at all from the Flyers end of it. Basically this trade is all upside. Props to Briere for negotiating and giving up the 3rd best 2nd round pick the flyers have this year.
Had to happen. Dude is not that good. Take emotion out of it. We had the worst pp. he ran it. I’d say he’s brittle and he is undersized open up a spot on the wing for a free agent or Robertson
This trade should get Verbeek fired. He's absolutely clueless, trading away one of the few good players we have just for a fourth liner at best. Yet another dogshit Pat Verbeek special.
If Zegras doesn't fit into Verbeek's idea of what the team should look like for years to come, then fine, at least we can say there is some vision and direction. But even then, it's still very lousy asset management. From one of the biggest talents in this organization, we have a bottom six guy and some insignificant draft picks. Great job Pat…
trade away our only creativity…. PP he made dangerous with his hockey IQ.
and then this return, 2 socks and a cap. for a player you can easy find on free agency, and he is UFA 2026.
we lost not only a good locker room guy, we lost also in marketing and in sport perspective.
he improved defensivly last season but had to play with McT who is totally overrated and never was ready for his crazy plays.
worst move by far from Verbeek. can't remember a worse deal in franchise.
I would laugh if no one wants to sign in Anaheim
Pat ( THE GEEK) Verbeek strikes again
Can’t wait to buy a Poehling jersey
I could have done a better trade in NHL 25
Even if they sign Tavares or Marner this trade doesn’t make sense
He shoulda traded him at when he first got the job
Calling it now, watch the ducks miss the playoffs whilst philly makes the playoffs. This has truelly hurt me
Zegras isn’t a winning player, I’m fairly certain he never will be especially in the playoffs.
Only regret is not getting good value on him after his first two seasons
Feels like it was always destined to go this way and it’s inexcusable not then not move him sooner if he was not in the plans
We have a rivalry? We dislike one player on your team but otherwise we have nothing against you.
Theodore was okay, we were contender and Murray not wanted lose Vats or Manson. the outcome wasnt nice, but the deal was understandable.
this one yesterday was only horrible, weakest move from PV by far.
22:40 That's what McTavish was in junior, Verbeek believes he can be that in the NHL in his prime years. McTavish is younger and still seems to be improving, he just put up career highs in goals/assists/points while Zegras has had back to back underwhelming seasons. If it was a choice between trading one of them, I think they made the right one. Jake said Zegras was the only one benched by Cronin but McTavish was also benched and called a 3rd line guy by him, a new coach like Q and an improved powerplay could help McTavish get to the next level.
I don't hate the idea of trading Zegras I just think Verbeek should have gotten more, he doesn't seem like a great negotiator. He couldn't get one of the Flyers 3 1st round picks or even the 36th pick.
40:28 That "potentially" is doing some heavy lifting, Zegras hasn't been a high end 2nd line center in years, maybe not ever considering how bad he was defensively in those 2 seasons he cracked 60 points. Once Cronin made him stop cheating for offense and learn his defensive responsibilities, the offense dipped. He's also more injured now. He might pick up some PP points playing with Michkov but high end 2nd line center is a stretch.
F$&k, that makes things even worse. I forgot Strome is still here
I was excited to see what he could do under a competent coach for the first time in the NHL
Had my coworkers thinking I was broken up with yesterday. Sick to my stomach about this shit.
You guys have too many crybabies in your chat. Only shit one dude had a different take and you let the chat shit on him, the second he defended himself you guys called him an asshole lol crowbar and Johnny D are soft af humans
I could understand the Z trade if we signed Marner or Ehlers before the trade, however now it’s all a massive gamble like last year to land someone. And even then, why would they sign outside of a massive overpay. Verbeek crucified Z for being a playmaker, why would that interest Marner?
So my guess is Ducks are drafting Roger McQueen and going after Marner
Hes gonna be william karlsson 2.0 over there isn't he
That shootout goal where he walked down LA in LA this year in February before the 4 nations break was my favorite moment from him. So heartbroken dude he's gonna be so fucking good on the flyers god fucking dammit
