The Return of Jeff Skinner? | Oilers Update
i think we can both agree like if that comes available they’re just going 11 and seven tomorrow right i I think so i I think they would and it just it makes sense because obviously the conversation of how wellstes play Clingberg as well you you just give Echol that space um but who needs to step up because whoever you add into the lineup isn’t giving you Zack Zachary Martin level of play but there are some guys who could step into an elevated role you talked about Kasperi Kaan i mean he’s fit in well with Leon Dryidle there is certainly room for Victor Arson to be better and to be a better offensive force like that’s a guy who was signed to be a top six winger yes Evander Kane okay uh that has Stetch that has Sterch as a right winger basically implying the 11 and seven thing um a lot of people saying Tren Frederick too and that’s a guy I’m going to kind of look at greor told me today Frederick is apparently more comfortable playing rightwing i mean Trent Frederick let’s give him a run like you paid for this guy he can do the crash and bang forch check thing that Zack Heyman does i think Frederick might be a pretty natural fit up the lineup here um I I would completely agree so Frederick I I put that there as well today just saying like this is a big opportunity for him to step up and and take a few minutes away and people were questioning his physicality and I don’t know how to do this so I’ll ask you to do it on the spot can you find out what his hits per hour are i think that’s a stat right because right now he has 55 hits in 15 games which is just shy of three a game for a guy that’s playing 911 minutes at the most 911 that’s a pretty solid there goes the clip uh sorry Brett can’t clip that one for a guy that’s playing so little that’s pretty good I would say and obviously he’s got a bit of finish to him this is guy that came close to scoring 20 goals in back-to-back seasons he’s played through skill in Boston i’d give him a run i’m not saying he has to be cemented on the top line or the second line but like when an opportunity comes in the offensive zone why not run him out there see what he can do like Perry’s obviously not going to play 15 20 minutes a night when he’s not playing and he has to sit back a little bit throw Trent Frederick i know Bob also put out there Vander Kane possibly seeing some minutes elevated there’s so many guys who could that like you it’s on Chris Knoblock it’s on the coaching staff you gotta find the lightning in the bottle guy yeah who can give you and we’re at the point in the playoffs where if someone can give you two electric games in the top six great what a win we’re at the point of one yeah give us like one big goal yeah like we just need to take this game byame moment by moment with these guys and I think they know it as well i think we can all assume once Jeff Skinner I think Jeff Skinner is going to play next game i really do it they have to right like it just makes too much sense and this is the only time they’ve been able to throw him in give him a chance see what he can do i think this time off would have been beneficial to him i don’t think he’s that crazy of a liability that he’s been made to be i gain a bit of a liability defensively as well but a lot of goals give Skinner the opportunity to do it see what he can do i’m going to give you five G i got the hits per 60 for the entire playoffs everyone who’s played for the Oilers in these playoffs i’m going to give you five guesses who do you think’s number one on the list hits per 60 uh Pod Coulson no dry Saddle no mcdavid no the forward or defenseman forward boy kaplan no god damn it n no you want to keep going yeah i don’t have many for five guesses yeah hyman no frederick no damn it perry no oh no there’s timer on the screen uh who’s even playing yamark no henrik no how many players are left um Kane no i have gone through every single forward you’ve only gone through 11 so I have the last forward who I can’t remember who i think there’s been 14 forwards who played no brown no holy 15 seconds liam you got to the last one who’s the only other forward it’s got to be Jeff Skinner it is Jeff Skinner hey congratulations to spare so where is Frederick on that list uh Frederick is fourth it goes Skinner 26.78 he had five hits in 11 minutes in his only game uh Pod Coulson’s two Hyman’s three Frederick’s four Captain’s five so Skinner’s numbers are incredibly elevated kane six Henrik seven uh Emerson eight Perry then Nurse then Clingberg Yan Mark Wman Stetcher NG Brown Dry Saddle Arvinson McDavid Kulak Bousard Josh Brown just listed every player who played for the Os in the playoffs so his minutes are just through the roof his numbers are through the roof cuz he’s played one game and he played 15 minutes and probably less 11 yeah five hits there you go would you play him no I wouldn’t what’s up nation citizens if you like that video then you need to be subscribed to the Oilers Nation With Zach Hyman sidelined for the remainder of the playoffs due to an upper-body injury sustained in Game 4 against the Dallas Stars, the Edmonton Oilers are exploring lineup adjustments to maintain their momentum in the Western Conference Final.
Today, Tyler and Liam analyzed potential changes to the Oilers’ lineup in Hyman’s absence, considering options such as promoting players like Adam Henrique or Kasperi Kapanen to fill the void. They also discussed the possibility of the team adopting an 11-forward, 7-defenseman configuration to optimize matchups and manage ice time effectively.
What do you think the Oilers should do with the lineup?

Erhm…not saying it's a bad idea to put Skinner in as an emergency replacement for a game in place of Zach or Connor Brown, but your argument here is super weak. I'm not a "give him a chance and see what he can do" kinda guy. A trip to the Stanley Cup Finals is on the line here. This is not a time for fluffy optimism. It's the time to make hard decisions for the exclusive goal of winning the next hockey game. I'd be much happier with an 11-7 format with Ekholm back in the lineup and some extra minutes for Leon and McDavid.
They put Klingberg in that coming from LTIR without 11-7. Same with Stetcher. Why should they go 11-7 for Ekholm now? Stetcher played 13 minutes last game. If Eki can't take that share, he is not healthy enough. 13 minutes is being eased in. No need for 11-7 at all.
I would expect that Knobloch gives Arvidsson the hitting role Hyman had. Last year, Holloway had that role and not Hyman. So there is room for Jeff Skinner. If he doesn't get in when a top 4 forward in our team gets injured, then he will never get in.
Or they could run Draisaitl – McDavid – Perry and Kane – RNH – Arvidsson as the first two lines. Arvi would take the Hyman role on a line that worked well. Then you could think about putting a penalty killer into the bottom six (Ryan or Philp). 11-7 would be the last option I would think about if I were Knob
11-7 doesn't really make sense. It's just awkward. Up 3-1 in the series, and the defense has been great, why rush Ekholm back? Let him rest longer and be more ready for the finals. He'll slot right in no problem. Bring in J. Skinner for game 5.
Bring in Max Jones for the 4th line. He's big and fast and can hit
You fellas seem to be wrong allot 11 and 7 doesn't work it causes confusion
