BLOCKBUSTER NEWS: MITCH MARNER TRADE TO VEGAS WITH 8-YEAR EXTENSION, BRAD MARCHAND SIGNS IN FLORIDA

holy crap folks oh my gosh oh my goodness i was going to sit here and make a video about the Edmonton Oilers ressigning Evan Bard and the Red Wings resigning Jonathan Bergen i thought yeah that’s a great video topic we could combine the Wings and the Oilers again because they just happened to have their news come out at the same time but we are putting that on the back burner for now folks that might be later in today’s show because this video is talking about Marner who has been traded to the Vegas Golden Knights it’s official here everybody marner is getting an 8-year extension signed by Toronto flipped over to Vegas 8 years $12 million a season the trade is not done yet but I honestly don’t care about the trade like okay Nick Wah going over to Toronto that’s fantastic but Marner going over to Vegas is the big piece of news here it is the gobsmackingly league shatteringly crazy deal that we were all expecting 12 years 8 No not 12 years $12 million a year 8 years long i will say I’m kind of surprised that this is the dollar amount that Mitch Marner agreed with my initial assessment was okay Marner might get that short-term deal he might get a 4-year deal worth $12 million a piece and when he does that it’ll be fantastic because when he resigns in 20 whenever it is four years from now is he can get even more money cuz the cap is going to be way higher it’s going to be 110 1151 120 million dollar on the cap and Mner’s gonna be like “Yeah baby i’m gonna get $15 million now.” He has been so man I don’t want to like toss bad words to the guy he just signed a really big deal but he has been developing that reputation for being that difficult negotiator and his party it’s always Marner and his camp that everybody talks about oh they want this they want that they want extra money they want all these extra things etc etc and Marner was always the whipping boy because of that reputation but because of that reputation we were saying “Yeah he’s going to get as much money as possible short-term deal 12 million bucks and then in Vegas he plays out the next four years and then resigns again at an even higher clip.” But no he takes the 8-year deal 12 million AAV he doesn’t go above the McDavid contract he doesn’t go above McKinnon he stays roughly underneath the current McDavid salary which I’m honestly kind of surprised about but honestly like as well the more I think about it you talk about state tax you talk about take-home pay you talk about earnings you talk about Marner and his partner going out there checking out Vegas homes it seems like this was always primed for some sort of a long-term fit marner going over to a market where he is not the number one guy he absolutely will not be that in Vegas you have so many other talents in the Golden Knights organization that take the spotlight away from Marner i’m thinking in particular Jack Eel Mark Stone leadership caliber guys that Vegas has that will step up and will take the fall not to say that Toronto didn’t have those people it’s just Marner was always in the forefront in Toronto hometown guy he was a hard ball negotiator he didn’t sign with Toronto up until the last second last time and then he disappointed in the playoffs did not take any accountability nor responsibility for his goofs and he just was not the player that he should have been talentwise and skill levelwise legacywise it’s all different because this guy is a literal 100point player who probably should have had multiple 100point seasons by now but who just totally disappeared at the worst times possible and developed this reputation in the worst way possible so all that I’m not saying that Vegas is not a hockey market but all that is going out the window when he steps over into the Vegas School of the Knights organization that is a team of winners they have guys that know how to win championships they got guys that play a hard game they embrace the hard marner was never really somebody that I think developed that reputation in Toronto so heading over to Vegas where the culture is changing the eyes are not on him as much this will be huge now of course he will be the most paid player on the Vegas Golden Knights right like they don’t have anybody else who is more expensive than Mitch uh holy crap oh my gosh oh my gosh whoa brad Marsh and oh my god oh my god the Florida Panthers what the hell bennett Egglad and now Martian what the hell dude oh my gosh oh my gosh this video is supposed to be about Marner that’s crazy oh my gosh okay we’re going to have to do double duty here baby we’re in the middle of it i’m in the thick of it everybody knows we have to talk about Martian but let me finish my point about Marner and the Golden Knights they’ve got $2 million in projected cap space and is Marner here no he isn’t here just yet we will see some sort of a trade go down with Mitch Mner and the Golden Knights here it may be a formality of the Mar trade is still being worked on between Toronto and Vegas okay that’s not done yet i honestly don’t really care too much about the trade i want to talk about Marian marner and Marian man oh at the end of the day it becomes a little bit predictable here as Brad Marshan signs a six-year $6 million no six uh what’s 32 / 6 uh that is 5.3 no way marshan has been underpaid his whole career and now he’s getting $5.3 million a year now sure it’s a six-year extension right so Marian’s going to be 43 freaking years old let’s take our bets here folks over under when does Brad Marshan retire when he has three years left in the deal or four years left in the deal like this guy is so good still he had a playoff run for the ages willed himself back into the good faith of Florida Panthers cap management gods and now he is signed on till he’s 43 years old oh my gosh man like if Marshian finds a way to somehow still be a relevant and productive NHL player at 42 to 43 years old who knows if the Panthers are still winning Stanley Cups by that time if that goes down and Marshian is still a part of it this guy will cement his legacy as one of the best NHL players ever like I’m not saying talent-wise he’s better than Gordy or Conor McDavid or Lemieux or whatever but just in terms of longevity you know playing until you’re 40 is already seen as a really big feat you’re entering like Iron Man territory there 41 42 43 does this contract get bought out at some point oh man these are all things that I’m just sort of floating out there in regards to Brad Marshian six-year extension man that’s crazy on top of Marner getting traded to Vegas let me know your thoughts in the comments section below about all these crazy updates we still have to talk about Evan Bousard that will be coming later in today’s programming but for now I hope you enjoyed this video and enjoyed my reaction to Brad Marshan getting the contract live i hope you enjoyed everything that we had talked about today let me know in the comments all your opinions i hope you enjoyed this video 9

  1. So Vegas will find out what we in Toronto know already. The only time he sweats is in negotiations. Now he doesn't have to stank up the locker room for 8 years. All the hard work is done. Enjoy your regular season.

  2. No state taxes in Vegas is why Marner took 12 mil a season-that is worth 15 mil a season where a team has state taxes.Marner is a good regular season player, but his body isn’t built for playoff hockey where banging bodies is the norm.Having said that, his Toronto line mates regular season point totals will suffer,he was a great set up man.

  3. Toronto just fkd themselves. They are a far worse team without Marner. Flush the leafs down the toilet …their done

  4. It's the best thing that could have happened to Marner now he can win a cup. Now Matthews will be really exposed he is to soft and not built for playoff hockey. He will never win a cup wherever he plays.

  5. Where is the Canuck Management in doing their job? Why wouldn’t they do a sing and trade with Boeser to help ensure they get an asset back. Asleep at the wheel as usual. Too little too late…just like at the trade deadline. Benning was still the worst GM by far, but Allvin is climbing up the ranks with respect to handling things poorly.

  6. 100% Brad Marchand is going to go to Ekland and ask him where the roids are at? 🤣 that's the only way he can make it in this league at that age

  7. Gm should go in hiding after fumbling a guy like marner and only getting nic Roy in return … Toronto is such a joke from top to bottom holyfuckingairball

  8. VGK now has the 2015 drafts 2nd overall pick, 4th overall pick and 5th overall pick. Only other team in that realm is FLA having 3 of the top 5 2014 draft picks

  9. No one’s surprised marner went to vgk, they always grab the big names but it’s more surprising marner would joining vgk because he’s not a physical player and gets dominated easily by anyone bigger than him
