Nothing for Marner, you had over a full year to do something….what a big disappointment….terrible management. Roy – 3 million for a 4th line center….a salary dump…lollllll, comical. Marcellli l do like, a top 6 Forward. Overall, so far, not good at all….we need a another top 6 F. We are not a better team.
Solid work by Tree so far. He'll have 6M in cap space left assuming Reaves is assigned to the Marlies come fall. My guess is he's going to bide his time as there are a number of teams with roster holes, but almost no cap space & who will have to jettison a player or 2 to become cap compliant. Hopefully he can acquire a valuable guy for taking on a contract somewhat like Dallas having to lose Marchment, or the Oilers having to ditch Arvidsson to Boston & unable to resign Perry or Brown, all to fit in Bouchard. Patience may be the optimal play.
I knew The Leafs were fucked many years ago when they took Reilly off the PP in the playoffs, for a guy who barely was able to string together a small handful of games in his career. You throw that in with ebug-gate & the two playoff losses to CBJ and MTL – that pretty much epitomizes the modern era of Leafs hockey as we know it. It's incomprehensible how the team has won 2 playoff rounds in this era of hockey. Throw 67 out of the window – you don't need to go that far back. This organization is beyond pathetic. It's rotten to its core. He only ADDED to it, but Brian Burke was right when he said that this organization has a disease.
As a hockey fan, all I want to see is good hockey with brilliant plays and extraordinary talent. Winning the Stanley Cup is always a long shot for any NHL team because of the parity that has developed over the last decade. Being a contender is all that's necessary to keep interest in your fan base. The whole Mitch Marner situation was totally mismanaged after last year playoff loss to Bruins. BT lost Matthew Tkachuk to the Panthers and now Marner to VGK. The DNA of the Leafs will certainly be different next year. Same team without Mitch Marner, SAD. I wonder what all the Marner haters are thinking now. Getting into the playoffs is a prerequisite for winning the Stanley Cup. Just ask the Calgary Flames. It just got harder for the TML. We'll see how far this spirals downwards.

Almost the end of day 1 of free agency and NO star players signed. All the other teams in the NHL have made big moves but the Toronto Maple Leafs. Why wasn't Treliving fired with Shanahan. No playoffs in 2026
The Marner situation was completely mishandled by Shanahan and Dubas. Honestly, it feels like Shanahan deserves more of the blame. This is what happens when you put inexperienced people in charge of running your organization. Shanahan was a first-time president, and Dubas was a first-time GM. At the end of the day, it was Shanahan who chose to hire Dubas, and it just goes to show that if you're building something from the ground up, you need to make sure the foundation is solid right from the start.
The leafs don’t need “a player” to replace Mitch…. We need a line to play properly and we won’t need Mitch.
Treliving is doing a great job. It's too bad this market in Toronto sucks. This town needs to get the NHL office out of here! The media circus is terrible.

funny how he makes it sound like it was Marner who wanted to leave.. uh the Leafs tried to trade Marner at the deadline and asked him to waive his no trade. So why would Marner want to stay?

I hear so many Leafs fans saying he should have taken a home team discount. But the reality is that he has no grit and not built for physical sandpaper playoff hockey, so ultimately you would have someone who gave you 80+ points in the regular season and just faded in the playoffs. The outcome would be the same year after year.
Mitch Marner is a TRAITOR. Period
This team should have hired Hunter when they had the choice and chance between him and Dubas! London Knights have been the top dog in the OHL for years under Hunter as the decision-maker in that organization.

The leafs can’t win a cup a Mitch wants one , he needs to play for a tough team . The leafs are not tough but we have young players coming up and cap space is a problem.
If Toronto ever gets owners that care about the fans maybe we can do better , corporate greed is everywhere.

Brad dosent seem optimistic with finding a top 6 forward to replace Mitch anytime soon. The free agent class right now does seem thin. He needs to make some trades…first trade for some picks and then trade those picks for a roster player, a top 6 preferred
