  1. You can’t compare cap numbers straight across like that. Hellybucks deal was signed in a flat cap world, where this deal is signed with an exploding cap. Look at the deals as a cap percentage.

  2. Garland is one of the most hardworking Canucks and I’m super happy with this deal. Maybe a very slight overpay but it’s reasonable. The Demko deal is insane. Idk why we aren’t just trading him

  3. The Vancouver net tandem SHOULD be Lankinnen and Silovs, they should NEVER have given Demko that extension… and I'm a Canucks fan since absolute day 1 in 1970… and trade Aquilini for a bag of pucks and 6 rolls of tape… but I'm glad they extended Garland … next SHOULD be Suter.

  4. They must have favorable info on the injury, from an outsider this seems like a very shaky decision.

  5. Why should they theoretically go looking for someone else later and it could cost them a lot? After all they have Silovs, who currently won in the AHL. Giving Demko like that makes absolutely no sense and I'm just looking forward to the video about the Canuks from THG

  6. as a canucks fan I LOVE it. Gotta pray for his health, but Demko's one of the best on the league. Consistent and the team plays more confidently in front of him. In my opinion he's on the level of Sorokin, Shesterkin, Vasy, etc.

  7. People are really down on demko hard, but he’s gonna be amazing. You can check back on my comment when demko shows how elite he can be in the playoffs. Meanwhile, hellebuyck will choke like he does every year post season.

  8. I presume the Canucks have insider info re: the medical situation. They are betting he will be healthy, they know more than we do

  9. Why the hurry on Demko. The trade deadline was the time that decision had to be made. See how he does this season. I feel like they didnt save any money with this deal.

  10. Canucks sign two terrible contracts in Garland and Demko. The Canucks have no hope! Let me get this straight, Garland is making Ekblad money and Demko is getting Hellybuck money? 💰 Insane!!!!

  11. Makes no sense whatsoever. Let's throw money at a goalie that gets injured. Compared to an goalie that won the Calder trophy with 6 shutouts. Giving Demko 8.5 million so he can get injured and watch TV at home. Another great deal by the Canucks.

  12. The gamble on Demko is reasonable. With lank as a tandem they can manage minutes and get the best out of both. We also need team leaders that want to be in Vancouver. 100 percent behind this deal.

  13. That may seem like a lot now, and it is, but in 2 or 3 years he won't be the 4th highest paid goalie in the league, you can absolutely bet on that. Hellebuyck signed his contract 2 years ago, and it was a 7 year deal, that's why Winnipeg got him at a lower number. In my opinion, when Demko is healthy, he is as good as any goalie in the NHL. 100%.

  14. If you would have told me 2 or 3 years ago that we would re sign Demko and Garland today and I would be happy about 1 and sad about the other I would have believed you but thought Demko would be the one that made me happy!

  15. Wtf, Demco. 8.5 to be injured every season. Damn sorry Arty, I am gonna miss him. Unless van playing that if he is healthy we good and if he is injured LTIR. Why not, Golden Knight has been doing that forever.

Lmao, the FLA and van 🤣😂💀😭 comparison was nuts. Van management is too optimistic.

  16. Canucks were 6 points off a playoff spot – in a season where Demko was managing an injury the whole time (and barely played), Petey was having a full down year, there was locker room chaos (with JT Miller getting traded and new guys coming in), young guys getting first tastes of NHL etc.

If you fix just ONE of those, Canucks become wild card. Fix TWO of them, and Canucks take a regular playoff spot. Fix all THREE and they should be back atop the division (or close to).

  17. As a Canucks fan i would understand locking demo down if we were short on goaltending. But we literally had a season where lankinen proved to be a very reliable starter in addition to a CALDER CUP MVP as a backup why use the cap space and take the risk?

  18. Brother, it's a circus in Vancouver. There is no good reason to trust that our team isn't going to continue being that way forever.

  19. They’re paying for the idea of what he can be. His health is a big concern though. But only 3 years is the saving grace
