Honestly after sitting on the trade, I like it for CBJ. We solidify our bottom 6. We don’t need more gambles on picks, our cup window is opening, we don’t more guys who are 3-4 years away. I’d rather take coyle and wood over kuraly and JVR. This past year outside of top 2 lines there wasn’t much. Plus we still need to hit cap floor after the trade and 40mil on top of that
Dumb. So dumb. And giving up the third this year forces them to use the 20th pick on a lottery ticket goalie that won’t show up this decade.
I guess you think Brindley is the best player in the deal, kind of weird.
Toews to Colorado?
Coyle doesn’t miss the playoffs..
Aren't teams supposed to need to GIVE draftpicks to do cap dumps? If this had been a match review, THG would have had both no mercy and extermination magnet on the board.
2nd's and a 3rd for a cap dump? How
Chaos
I think a lot of people are going to have to reevaluate the Evander Kane trade. Holy crap, Colorado got a lot for two overpriced contracts.
This trade makes Columbus better, not by much, but still.
The return however is where Columbus still somehow loses the deal
I like the move by Colorado. WIsh Coyle and Wood the best of luck with the Blue Jackets. They are good players for sure, but not they are not currently the superstar style of player that would affect the Avalanche play on the ice negatively for not playing. So we will see what the Avs do next. Thanks for the update!
CBJ has Danfoth and Olivier doing essentially the same stuff these two can bring, but twice cheaper. But in case if in the midseason all the centers are injured again, Coyle might come in handy
Oh no the AVs are cutting down their forest.
As a jackets fan, while I think having a 2nd round pick in this deal is a bit high and maybe should of been one of the 3 4th rounders they have next year, I still don't mind the trade. Coyle is a good third line center and add much needed depth to the position. His deal is only 1 year so if he doesnt perform than thats fine. It also helps us get closer to the cap floor and once the team resigns provorov fabbro and voronkov then they are in good standing with cap space left. And Wood when healthy is a very useful bottom six guy as shown I NJ. Brindley wasn't going to work himself into the lineup in the next few seasons.
Brindley is undersized and not overly fast.. he struggled in AHL , so not remotely worried about losing him . Columbus would have made playoffs last year if Coyle was on our team . His production is similar to Boone Jenner , he’s a right handed center, and last season when Monahan went down , and Jenner was out most of year , Fantilli had to play #1 C which he thrived, but we had Sillinger and Luca Del Bel both under 23 yrs old as our other centers , and we hit a skid and ultimately missed playoffs by one game . To get Coyle in a contact year make Columbus deep now , with Monahan , Fantilli , Coyle down the middle, and Jenner can play wing . Anyone who watched Florida repeat , they totally outclassed Edmonton with their depth .. So , while this isn’t a sexy move, it makes Columbus much better next year , and they still have 34 million in cap …
And the Avs boost their Defense depth with the 77th
Absolutely love this as a CBJ fan. Getting bigger center depth, while only giving up an oft injured and undersized prospect along with some picks….
Not sure what the Jackets are doing with this questionable trade.
I keep trying to make sense of this trade and still feel mixed to bad about it.
It's moving a young prospect for the sake of giving the other team cap relief that is the real kicker. Who cares about creeping into the playoffs in the short-term?
These guys are here to guide young dudes
I like this trade for Columbus, but also hate it. They shouldn't have given up a prospect too.
