Boston Bruins Trade for Viktor Arvidsson from the Edmonton Oilers

[Music] welcome back to B&G Hockey where it’s always black and gold the NHL’s free agency frenzy hasn’t even begun and the Boston Bruins are already making moves let’s talk about it the Bruins make a trade with the Edmonton Oilers sending a 2027 fifthround pick for forward Victor Arvinson he waved his no trade clause to be here so right off the bat you’re happy cuz it’s a guy who wanted to come here and he did have a horrendous season for the Oilers but I think this is a player who could absolutely bounce back arvinson has one year remaining on his deal with a cap hit of 4 million per season and the Bruins are taking on that full cap hit victor Arvinson is a 32-year-old 5- foot10 right winger originally selected in the fourth round of the 2014 draft 112th overall by the Nashville Predators last season in 67 games with the Oilers he had 15 goals 12 assists for a total of 27 points in his entire NHL career he’s played in 613 games scoring 194 goals 195 assists for a total of 389 points and is a career plus 43 wasn’t really fitting on the Oilers roster and found himself a scratch at times he played in 15 playoff games for the Oilers where he had two goals five assists for a total of seven points and was a plus three this is a really highintensity player a tenacious four checker and a good scoring winger this guy shoots the puck a lot and as we know Bruins fans we pretty much have David Pastnack and now Morgan Geeky and other than that no one on this team wants to shoot the puck no one on this team wants to score goals so just having that ability somewhere in this Bruins lineup is a nice addition sure his cap hits a little high but it’s only one season and I do think he’ll be able to bounce back especially based on his past career in the NHL arvinson’s best seasons were definitely when he was a Nashville Predator he was a really nice trio with Forsber and Johansson and he had back-to-back 61point seasons he did have a 59 point season just three years ago with the LA Kings he’s a two-time 30 goal scorer and a fivetime 20 goal scorer so this is a guy who’s been able to put the puck in the back of the net he did still have 15 goals in a down year last season so if he can get back to 20 25 goals that would be a fantastic addition for the Bruins and when it comes to this year’s free agency as we know there are not a lot of names out there and sounds like guys are going to get overpaid so I’d much rather take a chance on Arvinson on a one-year deal at 4 million than sign another guy to a three or fouryear deal at the same cap hit and be stuck with that player for much longer and who knows if this player is a nice fit like I said he did wave his no trade clause to come here so maybe he wants to sign an extension long-term if it works out between the two sides so let me know your thoughts what do you think of this trade and what do you think’s next for Don Sweeney and the Boston Bruins if you enjoyed this video make sure to give it a big like and if you haven’t already subscribe [Music]

The Boston Bruins first move of the day during NHL free agent frenzy is a trade with the Edmonton Oilers. The bruins acquire Viktor Arvidsson from the Oilers. In this video I look at Arvidsson as a player and his NHL career so far. I also give my thoughts on this deal for the Bruins and how this player will fit into the lineup. Lastly I talk about how todays UFA class isn’t strong and how that impacts Don Sweeney and the Bruins.

  1. Nice pickup, basically no cost and we arent committed for a long time anyway. If he plays up in the lineup we can pad his stats and flip him for a great reward at the deadline. Or maybe he is the goat and we extend him lol

  2. It's fine. But I'd rather see them getting a longer term, younger players.
