The Philadelphia Flyers have made a statement at the 2025 NHL Draft, selecting power forward Porter Martone with the 6th overall pick! This is a massive addition that perfectly fits the Flyers’ identity of toughness and skill.
Martone, a 6’3″, 208-pound right winger from the Brampton Steelheads, brings a rare blend of size, a heavy shot, and impressive offensive instincts (98 points in 57 OHL games!). He plays a physical, in-your-face game, excels around the net, and protects the puck exceptionally well. He’s a tireless competitor and a natural leader and will fit in for what Philadelphia fans and new coach Rick Tocchet love.

Joke of a franchise
Always take the best player available. Don’t read the other moronic comments. Never laced them up.
Briere said he would take best player at 6, and Martone was the best player available. It’s that simple.
No question now after that draft, Zegras is playing center and center only! He’s still the best center in our systems AND now we have another top 6 winger ahead of him
People also seem to forget Martone filled in at the end of IIHF Worlds, the only draft eligible player invited to play for Team Canada. Playing on team with Konecny, Sanheim and Foerster … those guys must have had good things to say about him as I’m sure Danny spoke to them.
you know what happened, Danny Briere choked, and sure enough Hagens went to Boston with the very next pick.
Talent without character? That is a losing combo.
Who cares about a center this year? We are still in a rebuild. Get best available.
You know what we need more than center? Skill, pure talent. Martone has a much higher ceiling than Hagens. Schaefer, Misa, Martone, were the best 3 hands down. Great pick.
