  1. The problem is Goalies are all nuts. Anyone good enough to get to the NHL, can get hot for six weeks and look like the best in the world. But if the neighbours dog looks at him funny, he won't be able to stop a beach ball for two months.

  2. Finally someone admits it, Skinner is a backup roleplaying as a starter. If the oilers want to keep these half-ass defensemen around they need an elite goalie, but in reality better defensemen and an average starter would be a better start.

  3. McDavid needs to find a two way game when the playoffs hit. Relying entirely on your offense isn't going to cut it if your defense and goaltending need help from the relentless forecheck of the Panthers

  4. One of the main problems is the Oil have had the same goalie coach for 10 years. Has he done a frigging thing to improve the goalies? I don’t know how he still has a job.

  5. I love Stu and Picks so much, they're two of my favorite Oilers. I think Stu will be great one day, but I don't think the team can sit around and wait for a goaltender to develop while they're in a contention window. Bob is in his prime and he's 12 years older than Skinner. I also think the two of them are close with each other and that's shown when Picks goes and hugs Stu after the loss. I'll be sad to see one or both of them go but it has to happen.

  6. It would be such an Oiler move to sign Carter Hart, you already have Perry, Kane, RNH , what's one more scumbag? In addition they are headed by Stan Bowman, king scumbag.
This team is so easy to hate and watching them ruin themselves is awesome.

  7. The first two goals in Game 6 started with brutal, rookie-level turnovers from Evan Bouchard — and zero presence in the D-zone. On the second goal, he literally stood next to Lundell as he set the screen on Skinner. Didn’t lift a stick, didn’t clear the lane — just watched. That’s not defense. With plays like that, Bouchard might as well have been Florida’s seventh skater all night. The Oilers were basically killing a 5-on-7 for most of Game 6.

  8. Many Oilers fans did not "know it" when you are talking about Skinner. There is huge support for him. People that know hockey know that he isn't a starter, is streaky, and usually lets one goal in on the first 3 shots. He never made timely saves. After his 3 shutouts in the playoffs, I was like "Oh god! Now they'll keep him another year." After that brief brilliance in net one of the panel guys said, "Can we now stop questioning if Skinner is a starter in this league." (something like that) All season, when the team had a bad game, he had a bad game. He never bailed them out. He is not even average. I'm often criticized for being to harsh on Skinner. People say I hate him. I don't hate him personally. He just needs to find a new line of work. Or go play for the Flames. If you're paid to do a job and you can't do it, bu-bye.

  9. Remember, Stu Skinner was signed and is an Oiler based on him being a backup. He only became a starter because Ken Holland screwed the hootch on signing Jack Campbell. Problem is, having to eat and bury Campbells contract meant they didn't have the cast to get a real starter.

  10. Yes and defense! Get rid of Darnell Nurse, Evan Bouchard, Evander Kane, and Stu Skinner. Put those millions of dollars towards better defense and an excellent goalie.

  11. If I was an Oilers fan I would be asking why they didn't make an effort to trade for Logan Thompson last off season.

  12. Well, the Oilers spend a combined total of 3.6M on two goalies. To be honest, to reach two Stanley Cup finals twice with goalie payroll smaller than Max Domi's contract is already an over-achievement.

  13. go back and look at the 3rd goal and look at where the defense is, all 5 of them on 1 half of the ice while Barkov can do whatever he wants on the other side. It’s not all Skinner someone needs to defend the front of the net

  14. They got a defense problem. Its nore systemic than just the goalie situation. Get better defense

  15. I agree they need to upgrade goaltending but look at those goals. most was them skating around the d man to score, like its an elimination game. No excuses to let anyone get past you as the d man. They needed to play tight hockey and they didn’t build that type of team. I understand it was tight against Vegas but that was Vegas style not the oilers. look at the hurricanes and Leafs. both were able to play the tight hockey game to force another game while facing elimination. They got worse overall and the gm failed to do his job this season and it’s inexcusable with back to back loses in the finals and got worse. Well hes got one year to fix it or Mcdavid could be gone.

  16. It was obvious, if people were being honest with themselves, that this Oilers team of the past few years has always been nothing more than a conference champ. Far too many holes, and then filled with b-list cast. I've never heard the quote, "too much dependence on a few guys wins championships". IMO they've exceeded what I would have expected from them, so that's a win.

  17. Dude YES look at the names they COULD HAVE. Look at all the names that moved after their finals run last year! Kuemper moved, Ullmark moved, Markstrom moved, Stolarz moved, Blackwood moved, in my opinion all these guys are better than both of the goalies in Edmonton right now. I think its pretty much undebatable for all but Blackwood but just on the eye test I think Blackwood has so much upside & I dont think we have seen his best (DEFINITELY not while he was in San Jose lmao).

  18. Stupid narrative to blame goalies when you get blown out in a game in every measurable statistic. All goalies let in a soft goal every series in todays game. People expect him to be a total brick wall when you've only invest 2.5 mil in that position?

  19. If was Stan Bowman, I would make a move to trade for Charlie Lindgren since it appears the Oilers are not gonna trade for a John Gibson/Demko type of #1 goalie.

  20. Skinner plays with any team with a defense in front of him and he becomes elite. The guy must be absolutely sick and tired of being left out to hang by himself and then get blamed for everything. That has to take a toll psychologically.
