Under this CBA panthers can still use LTIR. I am pretty sure he is going to get some surgeries this off season and Zito knows. That's 9 million of salary cap back to the panthers if he misses the entire season. he new NHL Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) rules are set to begin with the 2026-27 NHL season, which starts in the fall of 2026. Which means during the playoffs this year, no cap year compliance. Maybe they rotate guys on LTIR with various injuries.
For all those people worrying about offer sheets, RFAs have to sign it. Just because someone low balls Mackie doesn't mean he has to sign it. He could say you want me, pay me big money. Big money, big contract, Panthers get draft picks. Why would you sign a low contract just to sign. 3 million, 5 million, 7 million, but doing 1.5 million would be a slap in the face. If Mackie's agent isnt a total moron, he could put it out there he is interested, but only quality contracts so he doesnt get screwed over. It would be funny if he announces all the rejected trash offers that come his way.
