  1. You talk to your audience like you think they are stupid.

Try talking to your audience like you think they are smart.

  2. Fold up the tent Toronto, no first rounders coming for the next two drafts so what's to look forward to when the team misses the playoffs and other teams get better with the help of your picks

  3. Plot twist: the NHL determines that the Golden Knights are guilty of tampering and they cancel the trade between them and the Leafs, leaving Marner under contract with the Leafs for The next 8 years.

  4. Sucks to think that 14/15 season tank was for a player so skilled and from Toronto to be gone. The compensation for his rights is great but we all suffered to draft a player that good and now he’s gone.

  5. The Maple Laffs never cease to make me laugh. The GKs do not have the cap space to make this happen. They have $2.1 million dollars in cap space and even with Roy gone that only brings it up to $5.1 million. That's less than half of what the Knights need to absorb that amount of cap. Unless they plan on jetissoning Eichel ot giving away some key players they don't have the cap for this to happen.

Also makes me wonder why the GKs would go and get a playoff choker. As an Oilers fan now I have 2 laughingstock franchises to watch go over a cliff – the Maple Laffs and the GKs.

  6. Roy might be one of those players that just need a change in scenery? has that been done before?

  7. At least you still got matthews hopefully he will actually show up next years playoffs he seems to always disappear

  8. Ok this could definitely be a coincidence but I was on the same flight as the Vegas GM from Toronto to Vegas last summer and if the rumours about Vegas engaging with marner last summer are true, I wonder who he was visiting…

  9. The best we can do is make the depth better and i feel like they're making good on that so far. Still work to do for sure though.

  10. Roy is 6'4" and 207 lbs… he may not have Marner's skillset but he's a different kind of player, plays physical, forechecks and will go to the net

  11. Next year, when the Leafs finish out of the playoffs come April and find some other player to blame while their fans are numbed with reality, and Vegas moves to the Finals to play Florida for the Cup…..we'll see what Marner can do with real trigger men on their way to a cup

  12. What will be interesting through all of this, is can the "new look" Leafs beat the Panthers, based on the signings they've been able to accomplish over the last 10 days. That's an incredible core, and now they keep 'King Rat' there as well! East will be a tough road to navigate out from

  13. Mitchy was my guy, loved him since junior. But him moving on was best for all parties. I wish him and his new family all the best, and hey, maybe we'll see you again at trade deadline day 2033…

P.S. anybody know a good deal on blank Centennial Classic jerseys?

  14. I wish Marner the best, as much as I think most Leaf fans have problems with him, I think he for the most part really tried and it’s sad it didn’t work out. Here’s the brass tax though to a lot of comments I see. Is Marner solely to blame? No. Is Marner the sole player to blame? No. Is he the most guilty player? Not really. He was on paper the most consistent player of the Core 4 in the playoffs stat wise, but not so much for Games 5-7. So it’s not like it was Marner’s fault, but here’s the thing, right now Matthews and Nylander are here, Marner is the one going, that’s it at the end of the day. It sucks but at least some change is coming. And the elephant in the room, Marner is simply less likeable than Matthews and that’s why he gets more blame. I bet there are people who think otherwise but to most people it’s true. Marner clearly cannot handle criticism and social media very well, thus he loses his cool, and that just encourages more hate to be thrown at him.
