Toronto Maple Leafs have acquired forward Matias Maccelli from the Utah Mammoth in exchange for a conditional third-round draft pick in 2027. The pick can upgrade to a second-round selection in 2029 if Maccelli scores 51 or more points in the 2025-26 season and the Maple Leafs make the playoffs. Maccelli had 18 points (8 goals, 10 assists) in 55 games for Utah last season and is entering the final year of his contract.

Summarizing in a comment here: Matias Maccelli is a good buy low add for the Leafs. Definitely can score and solid skater but the vision and playmaking is also where there’s signs of good things. Not the BITE people are looking for here but low cap hit and hopefully Jarnkrok and Kampf are moved soon.
Hey JOHN HOW ARE YOU DOING TODAY?
This trade doesnt seem to change the team for me. They need alot of change. Especially at the d line and goaltending
They need way more. Leafs need to survive up to trade deadline.
Maccelli is useless outside the top 6. They gotta find a stop for him in the top 6 for him to be back at being a 40-50 points player. Don't expect him to get back to his production with Arizona being a 60 points guy, he was playing on the 1st powerplay and on the top line of Arizona. Can't see him putting up those numbers playing with Tavares and 2nd unit powerplay time
Leafs loves taking coyotes
Stupid Dufas like signing…looks like a brain clot type move??? What the hell is going on ???
The Leafs get smaller and weaker, and Utah opens up room and cap space for Mitch Marner. Bad move is my opinion, could've signed a cheaper 3rd, 4th liner
Not only Vegas Tampering what about the Rangers with Gavrikov I hear it’s a done deal he get 7.5x 7 that’s Tampering
As a Yotes/Utah fan as well as a leafs fan I hope he finds he game again he's a good player just had a off year last season.
Really did not want him to Leafs… My favorites and I wanted him to a team I actually atleast tolerate
Could be Michael Bunting 2.0. He had his best years in the 6ix.
Poor guys gonna be the whipping boy
Another soft player that does not produce much but mb given the chance blah blah we have heard this song and dance from Harry Potter for years it is played out we know how it will go , I am getting to old for wishful thinking , This is not DNA change it is more of the same
Wow!! Plan the cup parade leaf fans!!!😅
Jimmy when are the leafs going to stop pissing away draft picks on bums? There’s half a dozen UFA’s better and cheaper than this guy.
These are the kind of moves that Toronto should have been doing for years now
It's one of the best hockey podcasts. I love John's knowledge and passion. Cheers, brother, keep up the fabulous work.
Toronto continues to be active in the trade market, after acquiring Maccelli earlier. Some across the League believe the Leafs are more likely to acquire a top-six forward via trade than free agency. We shall see. From David Pagnotta
Leafs trying to aquire top 6 forward via trade possible Richard Rakell or Bryan Rust or other guy from trade rumors
Thing are heat up and from trade rumor that possible Nicholas Robertson sign and trade to sharks
And from trade rumors that leafs also looking for depth LD and possible D Marshall Rifai is available via trade if true or not we will see?
Trade details:
To #LeafsForever:
F Matias Maccelli
To #TusksUp:
Cond. 2027 3rd Round Pick
Condition: That pick can become a 2029 2nd Round Pick if Maccelli scores 51 or more points in 2025-26 AND Toronto qualifies for the playoffs. From Frank Seravalli
And Panthers have Resigned Aaron Ekblad to 8 year at around 6.1m to 6.5m aav range from Elliotte Friedman and The #RedWings have traded Vladimir Tarasenko to the Minnesota Wild in exchange for future considerations.
from rumors that leafs to resign Steve Lorentz and Max Pacioretty to 2 year at 950k aav if true or not we will see?
Nice Hat
Mistake by Toronto. Miccelli is a good player but mot the type Toronto needs. Two kids like Polkozen are needed.
I lost track of how many teams Tarasenko has played for lol
Nic Waugh was traded and signed by Nashville.
5'11" and 185 lbs, another small player (Maccelli)? Leafs need SIZE and TOUGHNESS.
