Matheson is both 1. A great player for us and 2. Should now be traded.

Edmonton is not trading NH. Edmonton's window for winning the cup is now. Trading for Matheson makes a lot of sense. A decent goaltender makes more sense, but never the less, they aren't giving up a significant part of their team to do. They'll give away future prospects or picks, but definitely not NH

Matheson is a great skater and was playing 20+ minutes per game so, his turnovers as high and it’s understandable when a player is this mobile and offensive! He gave us some great hockey, thanks Mike.

Mike Matheson is a home town boy, he's just 31 and he is a nice person. I want to keep him.
However, it's a chance to play with 2 of the best players ever and be a full powerplay quarterback for the Oilers. Trading him for that reason is not a bad thing. playing with Bouchard would be also great.

The Crosby situation is wild, there is no team who wants to lose a valuable player for absolutely nothing. If Penguins wants a future without having to reset from the entire bottom they have to make trade to get young fresh talent. They can't keep Crosby and Malkin without having anything in return…

Matheson has eaten up a lot of minutes for us. He was playing ~18 minutes a night for pittsburgh compared to 25 for us. He'll probably have fewer turnovers and a better overall game with less ice time. Lets not forget he had 62 points in '23/24 too. Interested to see what his value is and hope we get a good return!
Watch out for Darnell Nurse. Struble and Mat go west, Nurse with retention up to 2 Million come east with a first rounder.
RHP is a regressing center player, he's not worth as much as Matheson. I don't think that trade would be any good for the Habs.
When Montreal traded for Dobson, Matheson became expendable.
I think I’m in the minority here, but unless it’s a no brainer win of a trade, I would keep Matheson.
Matheson as our #4/5 defenseman is contender caliber depth.

If we assume dobson hutson ghule reindbacher are locked in… carrier has a spot imo so u have 2 spots and one of those is a 7th defenseman… matheson carrier strubble xhekaj mailloux engstrom bogdan…. u need to trade 5 of those…
