  1. As an Oilers fan him leaving would be a nightmare, but I can’t blame him at all for sending a message to the organization that he might not sign. He’s a superstar in the prime of his career and has given us 10 years, he deserves to win.

  2. He has a wife that just opened a new restaurant and bar for n Edmonton and driasitl signed a 8 year. He ain’t leaving, move on

  3. Oilers would be better off without him.
Trade him now and package Nurse also.
The haul they would get would be ridiculous.
Top goalie top forward and picks and prospects

  4. call it being empathy-impaired; but it would be hard to feel bad for EDM. how many first overall picks did they get year after year? 4-1sts in 6 years. they won the powerball lottery of NHL talent with the mcjesus. EDM has butchered so many other picks. they’ve made some brutal decisions along the way. for example, the buy-out proof darnell contract. just think, he makes more than guys like crosby and makar. more than josi, quinn hughes, sam reinhart and miro hesikanen.

then there's EDM choosing not to prioritize keeping holloway and broberg. young talent that is so criticial to help keep the p-off window open, so you don't end up in no-man's land like PIT the last 6 years. to add to that, the oilers have little to no worthwhile prospects on the way either. you're also looking at currently the 2nd oldest average aged roster in the entire NHL.

ALL of EDM's 1st round picks under ex-gm ken holland (2019-2023) have left the organization. EDM has enjoyed 10 years of having mcjesus under contract, and STILL (to date) hasn't been able to address the goaltending position. and it's not going to get better anytime soon, either. how tf dustin schwartz is still the goalie coach after all these years…he's clearly got a great backdoor deal running with owner daryl katz.

bottom line: if mcjesus actually decides to eventually leave edmonton, nobody should blame him. and nobody should feel sorry for the oilers organization. at all. they brought it all onto themselves.

  5. The oilers have just over 17million in cap space from offloading one of their top 6 forwards. That means they have 17million to overhaul almost their entire forward core AND get a proven goaltender. Couple this with the fact that several of their power pieces are getting old (Hyman-34yrs, Ekholm, 36yrs) and you have a formula for a team that has VERY little wiggle room to improve.

Mcdavid was just being 'nice' or politically correct when he said "if I think there's a chance to win over and over again, I'll sign." He knows there's very little the FO can do to improve the team. The writing is on the wall, the Mcdavid era oilers peaked in '24. He is as good as gone as soon as Bowman finds a suitable trade destination for him.

  6. If his contract doesn’t say that he needs to get steroids and learn to play the body defensively and offensively. Then idc what Mcdavid does. He’s boring

  7. McDavid is as overrated as he is underwhelming in LITERALLY every Cup contending game he's ever played. Some guys have an extra gear to win. And some guys are overrated talented scorers who will only ever win personal accolades. 15milliom dollar CAP on TWO PLAYERS who were both outscored by most of The Panthers teams in the finals.
Oilers will never win a cup paying two overrated talents 1/3 of their CAP while icing an OVERPAID/OVERRATED AHL level blue line and goaltending.

  8. I get that Oilers fans want McDavid to stay—and as a fan of the game, part of me does too. But there’s a real difference between playing for the love of a city and building a legacy that lasts for generations.

McDavid is entering the final year of his deal. He’s brought the Oilers to two straight Finals, but they haven’t been able to finish the job—and next year’s roster looks weaker. If he re-signs out of loyalty or pressure from the fan base, he risks sacrificing his place among the all-time greats.

But if he walks after this year, he could join a true powerhouse—like Dallas or Carolina—without costing that team any of their core players. That move alone could cement his legacy as one of the greatest to ever play. It might be a huge loss for Edmonton, but for McDavid, it could be the clearest path to dynasty and immortality.

  9. McDavid had 1 goal in the finals,Marchand had 6,Sam Bennett had 6,so who's the best player.McDavid doesn't produce in the important games, just like Matthews. That's why neither have a cup.

  10. I would like a 3year/?$…..with a statement that he wants a SC…..nuff said!! He deserves a SC and I wish one for him…And OILER fans should really want it top and if not smile wish him well and Thank him for 10 years great memories!!! And I am not a OILERS fan…… haven't been for 2 years, I left the fold after been there since 1981….. Got that after watching them Bow to The PRIDE LGBTQ++ alphabet crowd and the Indigenous Terrorist rhetoric imposed on all those that pay the money to watch them play LIVE and not those that attend on the TAXPAYER dime !!!

  11. If you REALLY LISTENED CAREFULLY you would have heard him say that he has to do what's best for him & his family. His wife Lauren posted on her Instagram account that being a hockey players wife has been a very trying experience for her because of the emotional strain when Connor is on the road. So let's do the emotional math here gentlemen. They're recently married and both are originally from Ontario, she is from Sudbury. So of course they are away from family and friends aka their tight knit community of emotional support. That's probably a factor as well.

  12. Crosby took less so the team could win. If McDavid goes for the max, it will insure that the Oilers do not win. It's a team game.

  13. McDavid needs a team built to break the Florida Panthers ! I am for that! This means get better players around you. It also means way more commitment to learning a system all together all year long.

  14. They need an upgrade in goal, it’s not rocket science. If they a serious and get a proven NHL CONSISTENT dependable goalie, sign Bouchard long term and acquire a top 6 forward then he’ll sign but anything other than that they’re gambling with their ability to sign him short term let alone long term.

Stu Skinner being run back with some average journeyman goalie won’t get the job done, Stu has to go or accept the bench in his contract year.

  15. Conor will take a small pay cut to help Edmonton if he feels management has put together a roster and plan for the future. He will still make really good money but it's not all about the money for him. The most any team can offer him would be $19M but honestly if you're making $16 or $17M, you really think an extra million or so is gonna matter? lol after taxes it barely makes a difference to a multi-millionaire like Conor. I would be happy even if he signs a 4 year deal, we get him for next season plus the new contract = 5 more years of McDavid, his prime years in Edmonton…after that, if he wants to leave and play his last few years somewhere else, I wouldn't really care at that point. He won't be the same McDavid at 34, 35, etc

  16. He should take 10 million per year if he wants to win-& bonuses if he wins a cup. There is NO WAY he could win as a Leaf , because they DO NOT have a good enough defence. And the Leafs Are NOT cohesive enough– they fold like cheap LAWN chairs each year. William Nylander yelling at Marner /Mathews & his teammates in the playoffs "" This IS NOT JUNIOR HOCKEY GUYS wake up"" —- says it all about the LEAFS. The Leafs need a Jonathon Toews—– someone who brings the WILL to WIN

  17. The problem of a McDavid trade would be that any team interested in trading for him, would have to give up so much that it probably wouldn't be a contender anymore. Let's not forget, how it went for Gretzky winning somewhere else. I think he'll stay, but only for 3 or 4 years with a full ntc. If the Oilers won't win in this span, he'll go as a UFA to a loaded contender.

  18. They somehow convinced him he got hurt in his first season he got hurt because of his own actions. He’s an idiot and already stayed once, he’ll do it again. Not to mention his agent is the management now. He’s a business retard and will stay.
