You ignored a perfectly simple reason why Vegas might be willing to trade – so that they don't get stuck in a bidding war.
If marner or the leafs are trying to string the knights along, as a vgk fan, go kick rocks. We are trying to help a franchise player win a cup and start a new life. We are also dumping good talent and cap to make that happen. Petty politics between marner and the leafs keeps standing in the way.

Two important points:
1. This is absolutely the cherry-on-top of Marner's consistent bad faith negotiation behaviour. Good riddance to bad rubbish.
2. The tampering has happened and the appropriate analogy for what Toronto is doing is not "blackmail" but instead a pre-trial settlement offer in an ongoing litigation. Vegas/Ferris/Marner have done the offending wrong and now they can either negotiate a satisfactory outcome or be subject to the process that punishes them for their behaviour.
I don't think Toronto would float these accusations unless that had serious proof. I hope the drama continues and honestly if no resolution is negotiated, I hope Mitch gets a million dollar fine and Ferris loses his certification to represent players. Throw the book at them both.

Not a fan of the Leafs but I'm all over Vegas getting any sort of penalty for their crap throughout their short existence. So tired of them being the golden child that's allowed to do whatever they want. Throw the book at them!
Also, it always makes me curious why teams/agents/players don't try to make it a little less obvious by holding their signings until the afternoon of July 1st instead of making it so obvious???

F..k Vegas. They’ve been cheating since they entered the League and have gotten away with it. Wouldn’t be surprised if they got away with this too. If I were Treliving I’d make the trade with Vegas and get their players and then charge them with tampering anyway, effectively screwing Vegas, and the Marner camp and seeing Mitch be expelled and take his pirouettes to some league in Europe
