james congratulations uh I assume you’ve dreamt of this moment your entire hockey life now it’s finally here and it’s come and gone and you hear your name called what was going through your mind
it’s just excitement um being able to you know hug your family just soak in the whole moment especially with Adam Sandler uh calling the pick that was probably one of the coolest moments I’ I’ve ever had in my life so
did you expect Happy Gilmore to announce your pick
i didn’t um yeah when he came on the screen and it it really caught me off guard but he’s I love Happy Gilmore so it was it was awesome
you grew up on Long Island but I think you’re kind of a Boston kid now you freshman year at Boston College and now right down the road from Kav over to TD Garden with the Bruins uh what’s it like kind of maybe staying in the backyard close to home I guess
no I love Boston so much um I wanted to be in in school in Boston that’s why I went to BC and to be able to go to the Bruins it’s a it’s a dream come true i I’m so excited
i assume just in your freshman year you kind of understand the passion that comes with being a Boston Bruin and being an athlete in that city what What does that mean to you being drafted by a team and a fan base that has so much passion like that
yeah I mean it’s so much pride within myself i want to be able to impact the team i want to be able to help hopefully win a Stanley Cup one day bring it bring it to back to Boston um you know there’s so many passionate fans so many passionate people there and you know I’m really excited to get it going congratulations welcome to the NHL the Bees sweater looks good on you thank you
