Steve Dangle, Adam Wylde and Jesse Blake discuss the decision made by Dallas Stars to pull starting goaltender Jake Oettinger in the 1st period after he allowed 2 goals. Was this the right call? Does he deserve to be fired for this decision?

doth protest too much, methinks, pulling the goaltender is a nothing burger. The forwards were and remained in a coma.
Jesse’s voice is something
-Offence isn't producing
-Team takes bad penalty
-Defense leaves goaltender helpless
-Goal is scored
-Defense leaves goaltender helpless again
-Goaltender lets a goal in that he maybe should've/could've saved
-Goaltender (starter) gets pulled
-Backup goaltender lets a goal in one minute later
-Coach claims it was to spark a team up (on the verge of elimination in the third round)
-Blames goaltender for what goaltender could not control
-Coach routinely cannot advance out of round 3
This has been a wild series of events for a third round.
not enough comments about the 'my cup size' chick, behind deboer, in the thumbnail.
Reason number 674 why everyone hates toronto fans..lets remind everyone how much better of a team Dallas has .
Go with what got you there. Now you just put more doubt in his mind.
Oettinger, signed an eight-year, $66 million contract extension on October 17, 2024. This contract, officially begins in the 2025-26 season
Might as well just trade him
Oilers have got the Number of DeBoers. Sorry guys, but he needs to go. This system does not get you to the cup. Next year they wont get pass Colorado.
Edmonton has otter’s number he is a great goalie don’t care what anyone says
Bring otter to Toronto
Before the goalie change/pull what format did DeBoer have the Stars playing? It was 1-2-2 with no forcheck whatsoever which enabled the Oilers to move out of their own end on a whim and enter the Dallad end with designed offensive strategy.
The opinion of this Devils fan is that Pete DeBoer is a good coach… until the moment he really isn't 🤷♂
Otter is literally the only reason they got that far, him being an amazing goalie is what got them to that point with just enough offence to scrape by barely vs the avis and jets
Dallas played Vegas harder than anybody? Did you watch games 3 and 6?
3 nerds who never played hockey talking
Guess he could have stayed in the locker room like Hellechoke haha
Of course it was. 2 shots on 2 goals. He must make those saves. Especially thst last one. Big time moments call for big time plays. Can't make a big save then shouldn't be playing that game. That's the pinnacle for goaltending. Sure those 1st 2 shots are grade A chances, but even 1 big save can make the whole diffrence in the game. Kinda a shame the media is blowing this out of proportion.
Why not pull him…
Deboer lost his temper and panicked
Dallas definitely owns my Avs,& Deboer is our daddy. Beat us with SJ in 7 in 2019,Vegas in 6 in 2021,& Dallas in 6 in 2024,& 7 in 2025-by far the worst cuz we choked away 3rd period leads in 3 losses,& they were missing 2 All stars. But thank you Edmonton-cuz Deboer has no Cups as head coach & Dallas for all their recent success HAS NO CUPS THIS CENTURY! Considering we won in 2022-that does make me feel a bit better-lol. That's what's frustrating-Avs had the better & deeper team-especially with Dallas injuries.
Give Dallas & Mico credit for winning but AVS garbage PP,& fact our stubborn idiot PP coach refused to put Nichuskin on PP1 for who knows what reason -was main reason we lost that series more than they won.(Thank God we finally fired him but too late)I'm not saying we beat Edmonton in WCF-I think it might be their year to win the Cup. But I have no doubt we wouldve smoked WPG-Ive been saying all year their below average 2C Nemesticov just wasn't good enough. And I do think we'd have given Edmonton a better,& tougher 6 or 7 WCF.
That was one of the most classless things I’ve ever seen a coach do. The goalie didn’t have a chance on either goal.
Why do so many people look for someone to blame: it was Oettinger’s fault; it was DeBoer’s, fault; Benn is too old; Rantanen disappeared. Perhaps instead of dreaming up blame you should try to find credit and assign it where it belongs. The Oilers are a better team and are playing great hockey throughout their lineup. Dallas is a good team who ran into a better team: like Colorado, like Winnipeg, like L.A., like Vegas. Only one team gets to hoist the Cup and it won’t be my team, but I will love watching the final because I am a hockey fan, not just a fan of one team.
Everybody asking why pull Oettinger? I say why start Oettinger?
The best way for Dallas to win was to keep the jets off the powerplay. Not a single penalty called in game 6 against the jets for either team until Schiefele at the end of the game. Any of the obvious penalties are called and Jets win game 6.
Stars suck
Yes oettinger should of been pulled AWFUL awful goaltending. He gets paid to stop pucks. Not a great goaltender. Good at times.
Deboer is clueless. He pulled his best goalie to replace him with his second best goalie. Guy has no clue on statistics. A 7 game sample is not a big sample at all. Just minor negative variance Oettinger had in those games
Flames fans confused rn
Always gotta protect your goalie is hockey 101
If the Dallas Stars win the games, you guys will say Peter Deboer pull the goalie out in tje perfect.😂
Hope ottinger (sp ik) ends up in Detroit
Have you ever watched a great team? OILERS IN 5
"wow they start them early on them counting thing huh?" hahahahahahaha great throw away line
Otter is an excellent goalie who was playing poorly. He needs to be better
Y'all should specify what episode these chunks are from.
DeBoer and Benn are both clown.
Look Jake was not good enough but either was the team in front of him.
Oilers give Stuart Skinner a bigger leash and that’s crazy because Otter is way better.
Either Otter or DeBoer is finished in Dallas…
