jon Jones called us last night and retired jon Jones is officially retired tom Aspenol is the heavyweight champion of the UFC
since I’ve been a young boy since I first started training me and my dad have had this dream that I’m going to be the undisputed UFC heavyweight champion in the world
he was really sporty and there was going to be some martial art that I was going to be good at and I packed me job in to teach him more jiu-jitsu cuz I wanted to teach jiu-jitsu with me even as a young lad he just used to beat people very easily got to believe in what you do don’t you um I always told him to he could do it so he’s always had that encouragement from me to to go after something you know if you really want it somebody’s got to be a world champion at doing it why not why not Tom england’s got a rising contender in the heavyweight division the new wave the next generation is Tom Aspenol he just seems like he’s born and bred to be in there
so slick people say that he moves like a middleweight he’s got tremendous jiu-jitsu and he’s got knockout power in both of his hands a lot of people think we might be looking at a future UFC heavyweight champion

oh he’s he’s on notice now yeah he’s on notice those leg kicks will pay dividends that will do it no ufc interim heavyweight champion of the world tom [Applause] what’s up everybody ufc 304 from the co-op live in Manchester England the co-main event will be interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspenol he will be facing Curtis Blades this is a rematch from two years ago aspenol has 14 wins all by finish and all but one is in the very first round to go like 2 minutes ago we’re in New York traveling there close your eyes for a minute now as we get ready for our next It’s weird cuz my mind doesn’t feel nervous but my body feels nervous it’s hard to explain it’s like it knows what’s coming one more just absolutely love fighting when I do start getting a bit stressy and emotional about it cuz you do get emotional fight day fight week I just try and keep telling myself listen this is what you love doing one day I’ll miss these days presenting the interim UFC heavyweight champion of the world Tom has been gone we can’t be reckless with Curtis oh can’t say the big reaction combination [Applause] right nearly down and out early to retain the throne unbelievable the power is different the finishing instincts are just different and with respect to the undisputed champion Jon Jones this is the active competing heavyweight and he looks like a real problem for all of the other big men listen I’m a normal person from a normal family from a normal home in a normal area just like you guys just like you guys watching at home sometimes listen sometimes normal people can do extraordinary things and I’m just proof of it let’s just work hard and go for it man stop holding back go for it right everyone the news has broken i’m sure everybody’s seen it ufc undisputed heavyweight champion of the world moving forward very very important to me just that I acknowledge everybody quickly who has supported me in this uh I’m not going to say it was a tough time but a bit of a challenging time over like the last kind of 10 11 months that I have been inactive due to no fault of my own but luckily that is all behind us now massively appreciate the support from everybody massively appreciate the support going forward I am going to keep this thing as active as possible I want to be the best heavyweight ever to walk the face of the earth I’m going to defend this thing as many times as I possibly can i’m going to keep you guys entertained now I’m going to really give back to everybody who has shown me support over the last year over the last 5 years over the last 10 years really appreciate the support and love from everybody and we’re going to see an active defending UFC heavyweight undisputed champion going forward thank you guys and I’ll speak to you soon
