Blue Jackets GM Don Waddell On the CBJ 1st Round Selections – Jackson Smith and Pyotr Andreyanov

The NHL is so much classier than the NFL. The young guys are all about being humble and helping the club in the NHL whereas, in the NFL it's all about me me me ..look at me, I am the greatest. Even listening to the News conferences both Don and Dean always answer the questions professionally and always thank everyone for coming. In the NFL they treat the press conferences as if they are painful experiences that are a waste of time. The coaches are combative and aggressive. Then you look at how classy the CBJ were to ask Merideth to announce the pics and the fans from all over the league gave her a standing ovation. This is the most hope I have had for this country in a long time. When you have an administration running this country that promotes hatred, fighting and divisiveness it is so refreshing to see civility, kindness and professionalism again. Unfortunately, it is a rare thing in today's America.
The cap is going up and we have plenty of assets but we didn’t make a big trade because “it’s too much”. No instead we overpay on a couple bottom 6 guys. Absolutely wild
Waddell does like his big defenseman, just look at Carolina d core. The trade earlier, while sucks giving up a 2nd and 3rd, helps solidifies the bottom 6. Coyle and wood I’d argue is better than kuraly, jvr for our bottom six. Brindley just wasn’t developing in Cleveland like we hoped. These guys also have playoff experience and know what it takes. Still gotta get to the cap floor and still 40mil to spend, FA should be fun
…but giving up 2nd rounder and the best wing prospect you have isnt too much for washed up/bottom guys(one of them has garbage contract too)lmao…just awful assests managment in last 10 hours…Andreyanov pick is basically result of Waddell being addicted about wasting trade capital on those type of guys instead gettin additional pick to get Adreyanov later…peak Jarmo stuff here…probably will waste cap space on energy guys too…
Although people may question some moves, the way I see it is at least we’re making moves and taking chances on trades. If we didn’t, we’d literally be like the god awful guardians. All the guards talk about is prospects prospects prospects yet, they never move them up and then they just continue to put out a trash product. I didn’t ideally want to move away from brindly, but we did. And we got some guys with some experience soooo. Can’t stay the youngest team in the nhl for forever. I’m hopeful we will start to form a more balanced team with youth and guys with playoff experience. Herb Brooks did say, I’m not looking for the best players, I’m looking for the right ones 💪🏻
