    How big is Guentzel? How big is Nick Robertson? How big was Johnny Gudreau? everybody doesnt have to be 6 foot two 210lbs+

    DRAFT: I will reserve judgment on the picks. It is really hard to tell what a player turns into. I shared yesterday the stats of Dubas/Clark on draft history, and they have underperformed vs average in selecting players that become good NHL contributors.

    SID/DOBSON: I work with NHL players, and we talk hockey amongst other things. All the former Penguins I work with, whether they spent a cup of coffee or an extended time in Pittsburgh say when I ask them who was the best franchise they were with EVERY SINGLE ONE says, Pittsburgh. And when I ask why, EVERY SINGLE ONE says "Sid, Sid runs the show there". And what they mean is Sid creates an environment of excellence there. Not the GM, not ownership, not the coach. They proceed to share stories, stuff you never hear about. Sid has made this franchise be at the top of the NHL. And when Sid leaves the franchise will suffer and drop because it is Sid and who he is that has set the player and franchise apart. That is why Dubas approach and not getting Dobson was so disappointing. Dobson was on track to being top 6 D for Team Canada until his down year last year. Even with his down year he was top 5 in high danger scoring chance goals percentage by Defenseman and top 20 offensively on a team that ranked 28th in offence with very few options. He would have contributed to being a Stanley Cup contender while Sid is here…..as the management of the team is going now…the team won't contend for a cup while Sid is here, they may make the playoffs but wont' contend for the cup. Getting a player like this, in a position that Dubas doesn't have great success with, would have improved this team, not just today, not just in 3 years, but 8 years…he's 25….he would have fit current plans of contending and future plans of developing the next gen….I was disappointed they missed out on this player

    Why does NHL draft 18 year olds and not 20+? It makes no sense that these kids can grow into anything and have to assume ALOT for development. Thinking of this from NFL stand point that would be like drafting college players before they take a snap in the NCAA.

    Realistically, one is gonna be good, one is gonna be an okay bottom 6, and one is gonna bust. And thats okay.

    I'm indifferent to the Kindel and Zonnon picks. I would have felt the same way about Eklund and Aitcheson. I think Will Horcoff was their best pick.

    I almost commented on yesterday’s daily shot and asked if you were gonna give us another today. Ha!

    Anyway… Listening to some player analysis, Zonnon is said to be a net front presence and a half… this very much excited me and made sense. Also…
    Dubas seemed to go for Swiss Army knife type players. 2-of-3 picks play BOTH center and wing…

    I’m no scout either, but I do read scouting reports from numerous non-team affiliated scouts who do get paid to scout, and all I know is that the Pens selections last night have all of those guys scratching their heads.

    Now of course it’s possible that everyone else that gets paid to scout 16-18 year old players will be wrong, and Dubas and his team will be right. But I am skeptical this morning.

    Love the coverage DK. I’m not going to pretend even for a second to be a hockey draft expert, but it did seem odd that they traded away from the options they had at 12. Also, would love some defensemen prospects in the next couple rounds.

    Kindel is a big upside swing pick on talent. One of the most productive players in the Dub all year. I like the gamble here for the Penguins. Interested to see the offensive upside of Zonnon going forward, Horcoff is intriguing but needs to improve his skating.
